- In this Episode 8 of Explaining Evil, we cover the Origins and Story of Slenderman. The Internet sensation that garnered so much attention in the early part of the last decade. Which in this video, we explain his origins, he creation by Eric Knudsen AKA Victor Surge, his folk lore on the internet and his eventual cult follow due to creepy pasta stories and 4chan, his role in the games Slender the eight pages and Slender the Arrival. We also cover some real life tragedies that had a direct connection to the Slender Man Lore.

Oooooh we’re branching out from Resident Evil. In that case I have two particular characters that I would love to see you cover; the first being William Afton, aka Springtrap from five nights at Freddy’s, the other is pyramid head from silent hill whom I feel that many people don’t truly get what he is and what he represents.

I'm from Milwaukee and I remember when the story broke. Waukesha is not known for violence at all and homicides happen maybe a handful of times in a year. Unfortunately one of the girls was let out recently.... Crazy!
That must have been crazy to hear at that time then if Waukesha was not known for Violence. You're right, one of them was released under strict supervision. Hope all is well with the Victim though, that must have been a traumatic experience.
This is making me feel nostalgic lol. Slender(man) was very popular when I was in high school. Everyone was talking about it and playing (or watching others play) the game. Never thought I'd feel that way about this topic LOL

The whole era of Slenderman of vid games and fanfiction...good times.
1 of my friends was a Police Officer in Waukesha County ,Wisconsin back in 2014 (Slenderman Stabbing Incident) he was called by dispatch that they were searching 2 suspect that stabbed the girl in the woods .
Luckily for him he and another officer arrested both of these girls they were heading I-94 at the Steinhafel furniture store my friend quickly noticed both the girls and they also found the bloody knife that they used in the Attack.
That's good that they got caught quickly. It was sick what these two did to their friend.

Most people probably know where that one is from,but I am actually glad you didn't name this decade-old gem,
since I still hold it close to my heart,considering it the only thing still good when it comes to "slenderman".
The thing that did it right before hollywood und the gaming industry grabbed it up and ruined it for good..

I still love slender man to this very day and I always look back to the character. I have heard of Slender man when I was a kid in the early 2000 when he was popular which is funny because I did saw slender man mention on TV about the two kids and I was pretty baffled on the whole event. I felt the controversy towards slender kinda ruin his character and made him a bit of a joke…the movie cements that thought even further. It even encourage the creator Victor Surge to not give away the rights of his character after the whole thing with the movie.
I’m still questioning to this very day on what those two girls were thinking. Did they took Slender man as a real legend or some kind of entity that exists in our plane of existence? I’m also wondering if they know deference between reality and fiction because Slender is fictional character made by one guy.

Yeah the other Planned attack that they had was very disturbing to me.
I remember finding slinderman back in 2009 and spent a day or 2 researching him and finding only 4 of the old pictures (some you did not show) and news paper clips that related to slinder but other then a news clip and a couple photos there was near nothing out there till a handful of years later its exploded
