@@emyounghave you considered doing vids on other ultrakill songs? Castle Vein, The Death of God's Will, Chaos, Order, WAR, as well as my personal favorite, Death Odyssey, are all great picks for a vid
In context, this music accompanies the hardest gauntlet you encounter up to this point, it is intentionally frustrating at all times and really hammers the feeling of unrelenting rage just exuding from the audio. The composition is noisy, but with the game sounds, and with the usual breakcore OST style, you're actually extremely used to the noise, and the grungy guitar really brings that glorious organ sound down as if you are crushing any opposition in front of you. It is absolutely gratifying to the ears, and in a hellish red arenascape, since we are in Dante's Inferno after all, you wouldn't want any other accompanying piece. While this is an OST version, the game versions are different in that the ending segment is awkwardly transitioned back into a loop, the calm piano version is less jarring, but the combat version with the organ doesn't sound too right. That's simply the challenge of game music, it has to be a seamless loop as you never know how long anyone will keep hearing it. There's also Ultrachurch which is, frankly, a prelude to this song, originally used for an ARG to hype up the game update, but now it's just another separate track featuring the distorted guitar you hear here.

I cannot explain the emotion I get when playing Ultrakill to this song. Edit: I just P-ranked P-2 on violent difficulty, I didn't think it was possible to get that high off a video game.
For context, the game takes place in a Dystopian Sci-fi interpretation of Dante's Inferno where you play as a Robot fueled by blood that travels through the layers of hell after all of humanity is wiped from existence. As soon as you start the game you are greeted with 3 text prompts: MANKIND IS DEAD. BLOOD IS FUEL. HELL IS FULL. and from there you go on a rampage through hell, its similar to DOOM in the sense that both games are a fast paced arena shooters where you slay hordes of demons but Ultrakill puts more of a focus on style points(similar to devil may cry with a on screen style meter at all times), trickshotting and finding creative ways to kill hordes
I've known about ultrakill for a while, I'm a big fan of the game, but goddam that has to be the most metal description for a game ever. I've gotten so used to the memes and shitposting that I forgot how badass the game actually is when you take it seriously.
An interesting thing to mention is that every Song in Ultrakill aside from Bosses, and the Cybergrind have a Calm and Combat Variant. This is this particular songs Combat Variant, and as with most Songs the Calm Variant actually feels somewhat different. Of course the Calm Variant plays in parts where no enemies are present, and the Combat variant plays when they are. I’d high recommend not only the other half of the song, but also Ultrakills Soundtrack as a whole as each theme is very well created in my opinion.
If you like the style, you should give Master Boot Record a chance, he’s the artist behind Keygen Church, too, and his style is an awesome mix between metal, classic and chiptune or industrial
It's interesting how you mentioned the music being 'noisy' considering ULTRAKILL is basically a shroom-fueled aneurysm created by a questionable sane Finnish man in a basement. The entire game is just mental and a lot of the music reflects that. It even has wireless buttplug support. (No I'm not joking.) Two other pieces from the ULTRAKILL OST that are worth checking out are "Altars of Apostasy" and "The Death of God's Will", both being towards the very last stages of the game.
Knowing that Finnish men are behind things like Ultrakill and Fear&Hunger, I am really beginning to question the sanity of the average Finnish man and what is in their water (probably Chtulu) because I want some
@@maxentirunos As one of their close neighbours, I can confirm that they're very strange. I think it's the mixture of isolation, the deep woods and about 3 pints of vodka every day that does it.
I was a massive fan of Master Boot Record so when I came across Keygen Church and found it was the same artist I was sold from the getgo. His MBR works can almost all be considered noisy (much like this one) when it comes to the heavy instruments so I kinda knew what to expect but the organ just hits so different. Love it.
There's a version of this on RUclips where it first plays the calm version of this, because there's a calm version and a combat version of this track, and it switches from that just as this heavy section at 3:55 hits, and god do I love it. I believe it's bundled in a video together with Pandemonium and War to be that full P-2 experience.
If you haven’t already, definitely some guilty gear strive soundtracks would be awesome all of the songs are incredibly good “Let me carve your way” is one of the best ones in my opinion because it has a lot of cool things in it, another one like that is “alone infection”
Funny enough, this song was written by a guest composer, being Keygen Church. The large majority of the music is written by the composer Heaven Pierce Her, who happens to also be the game's lead developer. If you want a better idea of the rest of the game's music, I would suggest the song Altars of Apostacy.
What's really interesting is that they are not just classical organ composition techniques, they are also core chiptune composition techniques. We didn't have much polyphony so chords have to be decomposed into arpeggios!
If you enjoy ultra kill music I highly recommend listing to both Chaos and Order (two songs meant for one level) and the second song for the level this accompanies called War.
I love music where organ is combined with instruments which you'd normally not combine with it, like the heavy guitars here, or the servo motors and machinery in Mechanicus, I dunno why, but it doesn't just spark my dopamine, it spears it!
Keygen Church is just nasty. Few tracker-based musicians have ever intrigued me or convinced me they're summoning Cthulhu more. Most tracker music is just repetitive but they took it to a whole other level that felt lost since the mid-90s. Definitely check out 'Asgretalos' by him, for all the love 'TRS' gets it can't even compete.
Just got this video recommended and I got three things to say 1. Nice reaction, no joke, those bits of explanation can be interesting for the folks who start out in music production 2. That nasty sound resembling guitar isn't guitar in reality: Master Boot Record (the guy behind Keygen Church) built his style around soundchips, so he just cranks them up to the point where they are no longer as melodic as they could've been 3. *P R A I S E T H E C O D E*

Let's say if anything that this music slightly undersells the amount of energy, chaos, and emotion that the game exudes. Caffeinated rage gamers should try.
