Hey Brian! First, I love your backyard. The video you did in the summer of it makes me so envious! I would love to know more about how your rainwater harvesting ties in with the pond and how the overflow works in case of too much rain.
My backyard is a little smaller than yours but I am wanting to construct a smaller scale but similar system (rain water harvesting and underground storage) in my yard. You pond is a big piece of the inspiration I am pulling from. I am wanting to use the rainwater storage to keep the pond full and also use it for watering the plants.

Cool! We use aquablox to create the reservoir. The reservoir is the negative edge

Brian, do you ask wife/kids to keep checking the pond & front feature while you are gone, or do you feel confident that it's good-to-go for the week? I'd be so nervous! lol

Great video Brian, thank you. For your air pump, is there no air stones attached to the lines to create those large bubbles?

If I don't have fish in my pond, Should I pull the pump and filter material and let it freeze? Or continue running the pump with a heater all winter? Thanks!

Brian, out of curiosity would you be willing to share an approximation of what your electricity bill is like? Given the number of pumps and features you have, I’m curious what it costs to run per month. As usual, it’s one of the most beautiful water features documented here and I learn more about it every time it’s featured.

It is more than the average cable bill and less than most car payments but about a million times more enjoyable than both of them put together.

Does your Koi fish survive in the pond during this season?

We keep a hole open in the ice to allow for gas to escape. They go into a sort of hibernation called Torphor
