Its wonderful to see how you have successfully introduced an environmentally friendly and sustainable pool to your micro farm. Its so important that people can see this alternative to a chlorine filled swimming pool. Emu's a teenager!!! what a poser!! bless him.

I really love your pond, I love everything you do! I had watercress growing in my stream (they prefer shallow streams). I made myself a salad one day and planted some watercress from my salad that had little roots. It grew prolifically, flowered, set seed ( I don't know how some seedlings ended up upstream) and did that for the duration of the stream. I planted watercress without roots and it still did well. I tried growing it in deeper parts of the pond without much success. It likes moving water and something for its roots to hold onto. Maybe the best place to plant it is where your bog empties into your pond. Hope you get some soon.

Kidding aside you are 100% correct
Climate alarmism is little more than an attempt at grabbing power (authority) by creating an artificial scarcity
There is plenty of food water and energy for every human on earth until bureaucrats and central planners begin interfering in the lives of the populace

It sounds kinda weird but it’s SO good and I’m a super picky eater and it’s one of my favourites:) I love your videos and I hope you see this comment and give the brown sugar carrots a try!:D sending love and positive vibes from Alberta Canada! Have you thought about adding snails? Snailed can eat algae and filter the water. Also, snails have the added benefit of being eatable, as escargot. they would be easy to harvest, as well.

It looks like Luna's bag is evening out a bit? Also, if the train bugs you, have you thought of planting a line of tall ( narrow) screening trees to filter the noise and block the view? There are several windbreak type trees that don't take up a lot of foot space that are good at being a sound block as well as a sight and wind screen also...
i'd love a small pond similar to ya'lls to naturalize.. it is so beautiful.. and soothing..

I think it’s GREAT your experimenting with natural swimming pools/pond! I would think you avoid touching, or stirring up the bottom because once you do all that green algae will turn the water green taking many days possibly weeks to settle back to clear again IF you can ever recover without draining, or using chemicals.
I have a 60 year old, 20x40, concrete swimming pool I hope to turn into a natural swimming pool/pond this year. I’m going to use my many years experimenting with hydroponics, aquaponics, and hydroponic to hopefully achieve what chlorinated pools can.
As you know for the most part this is all very new “natural swimming pools”, so again I admire your devotion to this most important pool venture. I feel you’ve got some major problems as far as algae goes with this particular pool design so I’m wondering if you have the ability to vacuum the bottom in order to eliminate algae organically?

If you turn the water if in the shower/sink when you sent using it, it will save some on the bills. For example, washing dishes, turn the water off while you scrub, same with the shower. Also if you keep lights of when you sent using them or are in the room, it will help cut the costs. Keeping windows covered during the day and in summer will keep some heat out, reducing the need for AC.

"Alright you guys" the question in most viewers minds is not how much does it cost to build a pond but how much did it cost to have yours built, it will help also to know what other costs are involved besides the electricity to run the pump, for starters:
    A) How much did your property taxes go up?
    B) how much did homeowners insurance go up?
    C) isn't a fence required to keep small children from falling in as properties with a pool are?
Here at my house we really enjoy watching the videos and thank you guys for sharing with us.

The biggest thing necessary to keep your pond clean is water circulation. Circulation helps everything, it helps. Your plants helps the beneficial bacteria, etc. It stirs up all the waste and biomatter that settles in the pond so that it can be broken down by the plants and by the bacteria or consumed by fish and other animals. Circulation is the thing that keeps the pond clean. You can add air stones to cheaply do this anywhere you think the pond is being stagnant. Air pumps are very low wattage for their output. And you can run a pretty long hose so you can keep the air pump in the house and run the tiny little hose out to the pond.

My friend used to have a mini pond in Gaspésie, Québec. It is very cold in winter and we can have a lot of snow. She would keep her 4 or 5 big goldfish in it all winter by placing an infrared lamp inside a cone that was floating on the pond. It was the only spot that was not frozen on top and it made the pond not be frozen deep. Really cool thing.

I dug my own 1700 gallon pond back in 2005, and had koi and fancy goldfish. I loved it, but had to close it down when we started wanting to take family vacations. We didn’t swim in our pond, but it was very relaxing. We never did have any frogs come to our pond, either, but I would’ve welcomed them! ❤️

We lived near a deep creek and swam with the fishes all the time and wore tennis shoes to protect our feet from the rocks. Besides fish there were gars, frogs and turtles but you didn't see any while you were in the water. The creek in front of our house was the deepest hole in our area so we were never concerned about animal poop. It was so deep you couldn't hit bottom unless you could take the air with you.

I'm sure they'd get another goat. They want the milk, that's why they have the goats. If they don't have enough goats to milk they will have to get another goat.

Would it pay for u to put Solar Power on your roof to run the pool and house? We save lots as we run a 120,000 liter salt water pool, ( I would love to convert it to a natural pool, but it is very expensive). We also save a lot by having rain water tanks catching the water off the roof, about $250.00 a quarter. We store 15,000 liters and more with other small tanks

Why do you have a salt water pool? Just curious

    • @davidsuperdavelarson6174

Salt water pools are around more than you think and some people use salt to treat their water over using chlorine. But I will tell you this using salt to treat your pool is very harmful to the pool itself. Everyone has heard of Russell Stover Candy. The Stover mansion had a salt water pool that I worked on a lot here in Mission Hills Ks back in the 60's and 70's. Mrs Stover loved swimming in salt water. About every 3 years we had to replace the pumps filters and heaters due to the damage from the salt water. Now days they have better pumps and what not for salt water but those units are very expensive and are seldom installed on residential pools due to costs.

we have a salt chlorinator, it converts chlorine into salt, and it has been operation for years

I have a pond to and I don't mind swimming with fish it's fine they don't bother me but I have a suggestion well if u do get turtles your fish can't have babbys because he'll eat all the babby fish probely even the big ones because we had turtles in our pond they killed all our fish so I don't suggestion it ducks to the will kill the bigger fish to so I don't recemend it but your pond looks very health I give proper to that don't ruin it by getting ducks or turrtels

I agree with DaNelle about the frogs. I have a man-made fish pond in my backyard. it's not right outside of my window and frogs still disturb my sleep sometimes. mine is a lot smaller than yours so I can't imagine the amount of frogs that would come in your pond. but I also live in Louisiana, so. if the pond stays algae filled I would recommend sucker-fish. they with eat the algae, but then again you'll be swimming and may step on them. they're fast, but you never know. they also can't survive in colder water. you'd have to catch them in the winter.
