I wish there a mmorpg transformers game that let you customized your transformers and chose what colonies your from and chose your factions
Honestly I’m surprised it hasn’t. Great Gundam RPG came out a few years ago and if you wanna see great customizable robots, look no further
oh dear lord yes
Like you get to be the next prime and optimus teaches you things, and megatron would occasionally pop in and tell you tips that may or may not turn you into a deception.
That sounds like a cool idea
Maybe in the future
Agreed. Transformers needs an “Old Republic”.
Velocitron, as silly as it is, makes a lot of sense for a species able to transform into vehicles.
In Velocitron's case, however, they turn into FAST vehicles.
@@jimbodeek Isn't Knockout from Velocitron?
@@concept5631 In some universes, yes. The Aligned Continuity never revealed where he's from, but both of IDW's main continuities portray him as Velocitronian.
@@christianwelch4206 Interesting
@@christianwelch4206Him and Breakdown both.
In this episode "cosmically empowered Starscream" is being played by "cosmic rust"
They both has cosmic in their name. Must be a sign
The truth is cosmically powered starscream body was sent back in time, where it decomposed into a metal eating virus, COSMICALLY POWERED STARSCREAM IS COSMIC RUST!
But no rust killed the colonies in cybertron nor did starscream high on the power of god stop it
Unicorn's reappearance however, is him simply reprising his role from issue 75, On the Edge of Extinction, where he slaughtered a similar number of named characters.
So rust is cosmically empowered starscream
Can't stop thinking of Caminus as Planet of the Theatre Kids
Hol up ringingdingsingdingdingding
Basically
It really is!!
More like a renassaince planet where just like in history where they glorify the arts such as music, paintings, science, technology, medicine, and of course theater
Skybite would really love that planet
Nebulos: **exists**
Autobots: prepare for trouble
Decepticons: and make it double
Literally the most noteworthy name _not_ in this video.
@@pious83 I don't think it was a Cybertronian colony
@@Epsilonus It blurs the line. For a time, the Headmasters did live there. Then they didn't. But the world was still kind of acknowledged in G1.
More recently, IDW promptly destroyed it very early on in their run, during Stormbringer. But no one else does more than namedrop it these days.
Nebulos isn’t really a colony world, seems more like an ally in the galactic table
Nebulos wasn't a colony.
I love the idea of the colonies, allowing for different but not too different kinds of Transformers, and if some are miffed or dislike the idea that multiple Cybertronian worlds ruins the scarcity and endangerment of their race, you could always make the argument thay the colonies lost contact with each other eons ago until recently.
@@basedpota Well, personally i don't think that brutal 4 million years long war that destroyed countless world including their own is not going to massively decrease numbers of people in their race.
@@basedpota Ah, we're talking about G1? Okay, then you have point.

Not Mention that the Other Tie-In Smaller Wars didn't Blow Up and we can Thank Society's Ever Shifting Mentality on Sex and Reproduction fur This
The mystery of Antilla/Unicron was one of my favourite running story threads in the original IDW run. Great evocative imagery - the world of rust orbiting a star of infinite darkness! - and a pitch-perfect drip-feed of clues and teases that let you theorise without giving everything away...
We're never getting Transformers media written as well as IDW2005 again, are we?
if only it wasn't defeated with a hug...
@@ShinGallon Hopefully if IDW's new continuity goes on long enough.
@Hot Rod I can tell you how it could have ended more appropriately with a in universe cross-over too. You Hotrodder could have brought the alternate primus mode cybertrons from the lost light finale that was running concurrently in to fight unicorn have double KO or something like that if you want the same ending, would still rather your face be the hero than that Arcee too.
This info is what I really needed for my Transformers RPG campaign. Thank you to either the Patreon supporter who asked for this, and/or Chris himself for this!
I can't wait to hear more about the individual planets in future episodes
Your making a transformers rpg? Can you tell me more?
Glad I could help! I just found the colonies and whatnot to be numerous and confusing and hoped that Chris could cover it, which he did spectacularly!
You should read TFWiki, it's really informative and well organized
Ah no offense but I find TF Wiki really unprofessional, like it has been written by some kid or something, on all the pages! It's why I'm still garbage at Transformers knowledge for who knows how many years (the time Transformers Animated was still airing I got really hooked on the franchise) because I can't bear myself to read anything from there. I only depend on videos like these for TF knowledge and lore. Thanks for the suggestion though!
@@user-sq9sh9ge3l I guess TF Wiki isn't always the most professional sounding stuff. It's not an academic paper for sure, but I actually thing it's actually entertaining on its own.
Velocitron is such cheese concept, but it works so well and probably the most iconic one.
Cybertron/Galaxy Force was one of my favorite TF shows growing up because of the focus on other planets. The idea of Transformers from worlds beyond Cybertron blew my mind.
Ngl i liked cybertron because override was my first crush...
A girl who is into racing. What is not to love?
Same dude, I loved reading about them on the maps that came with the figures
@@cavalierliberty6838 you love car waifus man
And yes earth was getting overrated all the time so why aren't the future films and show focus on them planets
Yes! My childhood show!
Transformers: Cybertron was probably my last TF series I watched as a child and I loved the colony concept it introduced. IDW's expansion on it is great too, both in introducing Caminus and it's unique culture and showing that colonising planets with an existing population can go stupendously wrong for both sides.
I didn't know about that War for Cybertron toyline, I'm mostly an animated series watcher than a toy collector. Makes me wish that the Netflix series had more episodes so things like this and other concepts they introduced could be explored.
On the note of war for cybertron and how they're putting in all these cool lore concepts it me wish the Netflix series wasn't a Netflix series if ya know what I'm saying (*coughs disproportionate pacing and rich lore fumbling*) but it was just a cough
Animated for me.
It's a shame that Titans and Combiners have removed the need for other kinds of giant Transformers, because I really like Gigantion.
Who knows maybe there is a Gigantion, but it is colonized by combiners.
@@jcmahrt5100 Maybe, but it's not the same. I'm talking super-sized individuals, not 5-6 bots sharing a body.
@@BPBludgeon yeah those guys were huge
@@BPBludgeon So in other words something similar to the Omega Sentinels and in a way Astrotrain.
@@jcmahrt5100 Yeah, closer to Astrotrain. Just regular Transformers who either made themselves huge or happen to transform into bigger vehicles.
Here's an idea for a new video: The Basics on Transformers Crossovers. It's definitely a fertile subject, and one that's still relevant now, what with the Transformers/MLP comic books coming out, all the 80s/90s franchise crossover toys coming out recently, and all the shared continuity stuff Hasbro is doing with GI Joe and Mask and the like.
Good call.
I remember mentioning this a while ago, but Chris said it would simply be too vast a topic to cover. The GI Joe crossovers alone would take a lot of time, and simply listing the crossing franchises defeats the point of the video
@@alexrje GI Joe’s involvement with the franchise does deserve a video itself IMO. Could be a perfect one during the basics on the 4th of July week.
And the canceled crossover JLA transformers
Anyone here got a fav TF crossover. Mine’s the Terminator crossover, it’s a pretty good fusion of G1 TF and the 1st Terminator film. Also, I believe it’s the 1st Terminator comic to show the original T-800 Systems Model 101, though I could be wrong.
Colonies are such a great concept and make for great story telling
I’m glad cybertron’s influence spread throughout other series.
Ikr, the fact that tfp ended with a unicron armored Megatron and a buff jetwing Optimus with underslung cannons was just

DESTRAKON Same here!
I’m glad the only part of the unicron trilogy that was bearable hasn’t been forgotten
I would love to visit Gigantion / Gigalonia! I think that colony deserves some love!!!
I agree. A planet filled with builders and engineers that expands by building giant cities in layers. That’s awesome.
A giant planet with titanic engineers now that's a good planet for ultron and skynet
Yeah me two I love there accents
Cybertron was my first series I really got into and man I’m glad it’s a lot more influential than I thought
I'd been waiting _forever_ for this episode! My dreams now fulfilled, I shall head off into the far off sunset and live the rest of my days knowing I shall not want for anything!
Wait a minute? This video came out three hours ago, how did you comment two days ago? (Does this have something to do with patreon?)
@@diamondlockproductions64 I time travel, like PrimeVsPrime does when he reviews action figures before they're actually released.
@@diamondlockproductions64 oh good. I was wondering if the Pattern was some TF reference I didn't get! 🤣
Yes, Patreon supporters get to see the video a little early.
I grew up on The Unicron Trilogy and Cybertron was my favorite of the shows (despite it's dubious canon) but because of it I love the colonies aspect of Transformers. I think it's a good way to justify some of the weirder ideas, like the Headmasters.
I think a cool idea is making Antilla the colony of Nexus Prime. Where Victorion is the sole survivor of Cosmic Rust due to her anti-corrosive metal unique to her as the newest leader descended from Nexus. Holding the Enigma of Combination as she remained alone until Cybertronians arrive and become infected.
Velocitron the colony of Almagamus who created the races that evolved into the modern era. Whom is the predecessor of Override, but only in terms of succession through the fastest.
And with Legacy having the Speedia 500 collection, I’d have Decepticon Scourge be a local evil mafia leader who covets the position. With his own Decepticons and even turncoat Autobots to command. Often uniting forces with Motormaster and the Stunticons.
Aquatron the colony of Quintus Prime. From which we get the Quintessons who overthrew him and sought to conquer his homeworld. Creating lifeless drones. With a few exceptions. Gnaw, who led the Sharkticons. An Allicon with a new name who led the others. And a normal sized Scorpinok (maybe Titan sized idk) who leads them all.
Eukaris the Jungle Planet of Onyx Prime. But mechanical animals not techno-organic like Maximals and Predacons. Though the original Predacons and Terrorcons could originate from here. The current leader is Scourge (possibly renamed to Scorch?) who holds the deactivated Tryptic Mask of Onyx. A symbol of the strongest will rule status.
Gigantion: The resting place of Titans who fulfilled their duties. Whose residents are all giants that continually build their world. Some are even Titans that took on smaller forms. Perhaps Metroplex eventually does the same. Though I would rename their leader and only cast him in the image of the Cybertron cartoon.
Junkion: A Mad Max style world of junk. Debris had collected over millions of years around the dead Titan of Megatronus. The Requiem Blaster lay at the core in an endless labyrinth only one with another relic could traverse. The Matrix, Enigma, even the Mask. Megatronus himself would only discover this disgraced world of his eons later, as he sought his old weapon to destroy the returning Unicron himself. With the goal to conquer Cybertron afterwards.
Botropolos: A space-traveling city originally built by Prima with his Titan. His descendants, the Knights of Cybertron would reactivate it and leave their world to go explore the stars. Combining old or dead Titans along the way.
And Caminus: Built by Solus Prime before her death. Currently led by her successor the Mistress of Flame. Where City Speaking originated. A gift that would be added to their local Well of All Sparks so it could be given to members of other colonies.
A theocratic matriarchy that worships the Primes who had not fallen from grace. It is home to only female transformers. There are cases where a male is born but they are quick to leave for other worlds.
Nebulon/Nebulos: World of the Headmasters. A project undergone by Nexus, Micronus, Amalgamous, and Alchemist. They created an adapted race of transformers that could use the strange energy of the planet. Resulting in Minicons that would combine with larger bodies. Some of those larger bots having minds and sparks of their own.
The Master Transformers were born from this experiment. Headmasters who combine as heads for their larger Transtectors. Partnered Targetmasters of a blaster and larger bot. Battlemasters who took on melee weapons and worked similarly as the Targetmasters.
Finally Micron: Home of Micromasters. Micronus’s colony of only Minicons. These Minicons underwent evolution to become more than mini-transformers. The difference is subtle, but Micromasters can combine with each other or simply be more fuel efficient than a normal Minicon or even Nebulon Headmasters.
Cybertronian colonies? Say it with me, folks.
*ahem*

It is our mission.

Cybertron along with the Unicron Trilogy on 4Kids every Saturday morning was my childhood growing up -- so much nostalgia revisiting it now 😌
Cybertron wasnt 4 kids though, it was a Canadian dub and aired on Cartoon Network
Ah that is true too, but I didnt have cable back then so I settled with 4kids, or it might have been called Kid's WB, forgot when the network was bought out
@@RobDeMann you may have watched online, I remember that CN uploaded the episodes online and that’s how I watched it
Ehh, my childhood memory is pretty clear 🤷♂️ regardless of where it was, it's a great show nonetheless
@@RobDeMann agreed, so underrated in the community
03:14 What's that you said? The four cyber planet keys?! Tell me where they are Chris! We must find them before the decepticons can use them for evil!!

The Go Bots, which was once owned by Tonka, which was bought out by Hasbro, are also colonists as well, being that their Autobots became the Guardians while their Decepticons became the Renegades.
Man i really hope you get over a million subs, you are definitely one to deserve it.
I’ve loved this concept since the days of the Cybertron toy line. So many narrative possibilities.
Me, years after graduating art school: Ah yes, Caminus. My homeland.
Perhaps you can do the basics on the council of worlds, it would be fun to see them in future Transformers TV series.
This was another good topic vid, it was in TF Cybertron that I was introduced to Cybertronian colonies.
As for what Cybertronian colonies I would visit, I would visit Caminus.
looking at the end of Cybertron I wish they made stories continuing that world since it is by far the most open ending any transformers series has ever had with multiple established worlds and civilizations as well as promises of more with potential conflicts on the horizon like Starscream and the mysterious Initial T (heck the japanese version has Vector Prime mention Galaxy Convoy has much he has to do and thus must defeat Master Galvatron) so there is essentially enough material for a whole new series if not multiple after Cybertron's ending
Maybe when we get an inevitable Unicron trilogy revival it should be a sequel, rather than a reboot like Hasbro constantly does with G1.
I agree. We need to know what happened to Signal Lancer.
@@BPBludgeon yeah, I would legit be interested in what he did in his grand adventure
TF Cybertron is one of my favourite TF shows!
My classic, Coffe and Mcfeely Saturday! :D
In the slim chance Transformers ever gets added to SRW, my series pick would be Galaxy Force so we can have a 'planet hop' plot again and replace the planets w/ those from other series that matches the planet's theme (i.e., replace Animatros w/ Planet Zi from Zoids)
that would be interesting though that would exponentially expand the transformers multiverse, imagine if that same SRW had some brave series in it since I wonder how cybertronians would think of artificial robots which could be seen as almost identical to them, cognitive ability, transformation, even what could essentially be a spark... though that also makes me wonder what if something like transformers animated allspark repaired them since repaired machines always seemed to become transformers, would they go through a pinochio "am I a real boy" sort of thing or just be repaired
One of my favorite things to do is explore space and see the different planets and stars and now that you have done a basics on this makes me happy
My favorite was jungle planet and it's leader skourge. Loved that dragon toy as a kid.
The Junkions are actually the first attempt by Lunarcron, son of Unicron, to create Cybertronian-like life. He set them to create their own society through use of picking up transmissions from other worlds, primarily Earth. This is how the Weird Al Yankovic hit, "Dare to be Stupid", became their planetary anthem.
In a way, it's our planetary anthem, here and now.
@@Corbomite_Meatballs I would stand for that.
Lunarcon?
@@johnnygyro2295 Yes. Unicron's wayward son. His alt mode is a moon.
@@MulToyVerse that's complete fanon, right there. Unicron only has Heralds, he has never had a son in any Hasbro/Takara produced media. Maybe in your own headcanon this character exists, but please don't confuse random people online who are trying to learn about the lore with your own ideas.
I admit, I do not know literally all lore about TF, so I also did an extensive google search and found zero results related to a Transformers character. If it ain't on TFWiki, it's probably not part of the lore. I did find some twitter account named that, is that where you got the idea from?
I love that the IDW comics used the colony Eukaris as an excuse to get the Beast Wars characters in on the main action, rather than have them be from the future.
I kid you not! I was literally thinking about your channel this morning and was like "He should do a video about the Cybertronian colonies." I later get to my computer. Lo and behold, what do I see in my recommendations? "Transformers: The Basics on Cybertronian Colonies"!😂
As a child, i grew up with Beast Wars, hence I am definetly partial to Eukaris!
Same here. So what if robot animals aren't a viable earth disguise? When you have a team of bright-green construction equipment show up at the scene of nearly every 'Con attack, humans aren't going to be fooled for long either way
While I love the character episodes, I REALLY love these lore videos because I either learn something obscure from some series/lore, or it clears up any confusion I've had in my headcanon! Thanks, Chris! =)
i never knew cybertron had so many colonies man i learn something new from you chris
Very interesting. This will be very interesting to compare with the stories I'm working on. Keep up the great work.
We need a TF game that plays like No Man’s Sky, where you colonize planets for cybertron
I understood it as the Space Bridge Network that was attempted to be built in the prehistory of the Unicron Trilogy somewhat worked (hence why characters can use very advanced versions of Space Bridges.) but it was either incomplete or something made Cybertron lose contact with the colony worlds.
Also it was explained explicitly that the Cyber Keys actually adapted the Colonists to their world. It’s the first time I heard they planned to completely cyberform the Colony planets, but seemingly did Cyberform some parts of them.
Yeah Animatron and Gigantion show that was the case, the keys seemed to make the transformer colonists adapt to the planet or other hardship
Edit:Vector Prime was the one who mentioned making the colony worlds mirror images of cybertron
Can i suggest The basics on Mirage? Thanks.
Edit: even if it wouldnt be a long video, i would love to watch it, since he is my favorite G1 character!
Hello, Chris. I'm a big fan of your Basics series, which I watch on RUclips. One of my favourites is your video behind the invention of the Transformers. I also enjoy the video you made about the cancelled Muffy show and Mysterians toys.
Anyway, I'm writing this message because I wish to pitch a project I want to do, with your permission of course. I've been thinking of doing a spin-off series of sorts, inspired by yours, about the basics of other Hasbro brands, properties and characters: like Rom, Action Man, My Little Pony, GI Joe, etc.
Cybertron was honestly my favorite series mainly because of the colonies. Main reason is because there were legitimate cultural differences between them and not just cosmetic differences
By the way, I love the way you talk about this stuff. It’s really great!
Seems like the most interesting versions of the colonies were from the Cybertron anime.
I like the worlds that are colonized by Beast-formers more, but I like all of them equally and would like to have a chance to visit all of them.
Deathcharge from the Beast Wars was from a colony as well, I can't remember right off hand without going to Tubi streaming service to find out which colony he was from, because he had a grudge with Rampage for killing off deathcharges friends and also killing off the rest of the planet that inhabited where deathcharge was originally from
Colony Omicron though it's not known if it was a colony world or a space colony orbiting some planet or other sphere that generates gravity
This was the one episode I wanted! Thank you so much!
Thanks for the vid, I love the basics a lot

This is such an interesting concept, I would love to know more about the individual planets
This is an interesting storyline for a movie franchise.. I hope Paramount Pictures try to adapt this in the future..
I find IDW comics version of the jungle planet to be the most interesting.
Cybertron had some fun concepts but the way it tells the story coupled with the badly implemented 3D means I'll probably never revisit it. Glad some of the ideas have been picked up since.

FINALLY i was waiting for this video for a loooong time
this info was very helpful :)
Eukaris, and Velocitron would be the destinations I'd wanna visit.
Velocitron and the jungle planet are my favorites. Could you please do a basics video on transformers crossovers? Like Ghostbusters, GI Joe, Star Trek, etc.?
I wouldn't mind seeing a video on races perspectives of the transformers. Native Antila and their resistance can't be the only race with a negative opinion on our favorite robots.
Would love to hold a race on Velocitron!
I really needed to know this
If I had to pick one it would probably be the jungle planet, being interested in evolution it seems to be the most interesting planet to study how it and the colonists adapted to each other puls I always liked the techno organic aesthetic they had in cybertron/galaxy force
Kinda wonder if there are any plant transformers there because the plants are mobile and dangerous so I would imagine an Animatron native would’ve taken one up as an alt mode
@9:02 I see you there ROM.
I liked this video a lot. I like all your stuff but this one was particularly interesting to me. This explains the “Infernac Universe” too I suppose.
Awesome episode I would go to the speed planet.
The Transformers "Ultimate timeline" I made up for my main toy collection (which I really should write down) includes the colonies. Namely Caminus and Velocitron for characters like Windblade or Override, but I expanded the colonist roster to include things like Battletrap being from Devisun. Meanwhile the headmasters are complicated, as I have three stages of headmaster tech: the Master(switching to Dominus as that sounds better) that use transtector bodies, nebulonian binary bonded headmasters, and humans bonded to transtectors.
I'm also flip flopping on making beast era characters colonists or time travelers.
If Fall Of Cybertron had gotten the sequel its ending left the opening for; i would've liked a moderate reprise of Cybertron's colony plot. The Exiles novel kinda did this.
I replayed the game recently and the bit at the end of Grimlock's second level has something launched from the spacebridge tower hit the portal in orbit which makes it go weird. My theory is the object was Grimlock getting warped somewhere, possibly the beast planet as it feels he'd fit in there. Plus having Grimlock have a boss fight with Scourge would've been cool. Could've been like the Optimus/Megatron fight at FOC's end.
Speaking of the main cast; the spacebridge was originally set for Earth but after going weird it could possibly have shunted the Bots & Cons somewhere else, possibly Velocitron.
Another possibility could've been they land on prehistoric Earth to do a G1 version of Beast Wars.
This was a cool episode. While I love learning about the different iterations of characters. It's concepts like this and Space Bridges that really intrigue me.
Great Stuff!
Great video.
Love your channel ❤❤❤❤❤
To do List
1) enslave Velocitron
2) loot Paradon
3) burn Junkion to the ground,
4) bomb out Micron
5) Make a vacation resort on Biosfera.
6) Recruit Gigantion as constructors
7)Try diplomacy with Aqautron
8)Committ horrific experiments on Nuetronia
9)Make a zoo in Eukaris
10)Think what to do with Caminus
11)Somehow execute this plan
A very busy schedule ahead.
IDW also had the NAILs (Non-Aligned Indigenous Lifeforms) who where bots who fled Cybertron, when the war broke out, instead of picking a side.
Cybertronians who where neither decepticon nor autobot and generally against the whole war.
I have a bunch of different ideas for the colonies. For starters, different transformers continuities have very distinct body types, the traditional, boxy bodies (like in G1 and the Unicron trilogy) and the sleeker humanoid bodies (like in animated or the aligned cartoons). What's say that Cybertronians and a select few planets had the blocky bodies, while other planets like Caminus had the humanoid designs. Also, the colonies could resemble different cultures in our real life world.
Cybertron was America
Caminus was Eastern Asia
Eukaris was Africa
Velocitron was Australia
Etc.
Would there be a planet of bayformer looks
