Owner's Spotlight: Ara's Impreza STI [4K]

- When ever the opportunity to travel around Japan and explore the car culture outside of Tokyo arises, it doesn't take much to for me to say yes (as long as time and funding allows for it that is). A few years back I met Ara at a RevSpeed time attack event at Tsukuba circuit. Out of the line up of WRX's that lined the parking lots, Ara's clearly stood out from the pack. As I was contemplating about snapping a few pictures, Ara happened to walk by and was more than happy to show me around his pride and joy. Think this would be a good car to feature, I asked if he lived near by. "Fukushima" he replied. Needless to say we have kept in touch until finally the stars aligned where I could make the journey up to Fukushima and bring back his story.
So this time on Tokyo Tuner, sit back and relax as we take a trip up north to Fukushima. Enjoy!

Something is missing from his STi. Def was the iconic Subaru boxer rumble from the unequal length headers.
Agree that the wang is too big for a "street" car. Otherwise the car looks clean other than the front mounted intercooler poking out of the front bumper.

Funny enough I actually love that he went for equal length headers, sounds so different and damn good!!
With this being a JDM STI it never had UEL headers to begin with. They're inefficient for higher hp applications anyway
That Jdm model came with a twinscroll and equal length headers...
I have a 04 wrx sti that is bone stock besides a cat-back exhaust. Ever since I learned that the EJ257 engine we got in the United States has a weak block and ring land failures on the Pistons I've been afraid to do any mods that add any more power.
However this coming summer I'm looking to get a closed deck block with all forged internals with ARP head studs and then hopefully I can get more power from it. Having it correctly tuned on a Dyno of course.
JDM engines don't have the issues the USDM engines have I believe. That must be comforting for STI owner abroad. 😂

Thanks for the heads up. I've talked with that channels owner a while back and suggested that he tries to work in his own unique style to tell the story in Malaysia ^^ Hopefully he will give it a shot
