I was accidentally there when visiting this road on my trip to Romania. They closed off the road and no one could leave the top of the mountain. Glad they did because I witnessed one of the coolest things in my life.
Cheers to the camera guys who had to wake up early, travel hours to find a best location for a 2 second shot of a car blazing past, then head home hours back. Perhaps walk for miles since theres no parking to be found anywhere near
There are spots where you can pull off to the side/park actually like you see at 5:02 but it was still a lot of effort I believe,this section is just huge and it has a lot of elevation to it.Also during summers during days it also gets a lot of traffic sadly, sometimes you end up going 2 meters in every 15 minute.Seeing this road and someone driving like this on it is just simply uplifting my soul.
@@brekekee Someone probably dropped them off ahead of time and then picked them up after.
A lot of it I'm sure was shot by drone or guys who were dropped off and picked up after or by a follow car

With the EVO being cancelled, this car holds the torch for both STIs and EVOs legacies. Japanese 4 cylinder turbo AWD rocks. Best WRC car

They said they're planning smth new, like hybrid, regular ICE, or even electric(that won't work obviously) and released only new WRX on their new platform.
The reason of it was done by EPA - intentional, because Subaru is the cleanest combustion cars ever made, but EPA is lead by environmentalist propaganda of the left, and it's been postponed

4:00 to 4:11 is on replay, I play it from time to time and it just makes me happy. The way the car is planted on the ground, the face shredding grip, unique in the car industry. This record won't go down easily. I'll return on this clip after I'll buy a Subaru. Definitely, this company deserves more sales and recognition because it's light years ahead of european cars in some aspects(not all).

Prodrive & Subaru. Imagine if they came back to the WRC. They have unfinished business there. Love seeing the old style number plate on the bumper like it was last in 2001. It's like a modern S7. Good to see Tommo still involved as well!
Unfortunately, Subaru has nothing in the pipeline right now that would be R5-compliant. This Type RA would be R4-compliant, and is not allowed to compete in the WRC. I do like that Subaru (especially Subaru of America) is looking for new roads to tear up (and not just racetracks).
@@WannabeWRX Yeah it's a shame. They're smart in getting bang for their buck with these type of events but you'd miss them from the WRC scene.

Subaru famous for their symmetrical AWD. the current WRC regulation don't allow this layout.
YouQube05117 what got me into Subaru was the 2007 WRC STI. Hope they can invest more in WRC in the years ahead, and maybe take a bolder approach to their car styling
That's going to be a while since you can only have 1.6 liter max. And the R&D for a new engine in really expensive. The smallest engine they have is 2.0 liter.
I had the luck to be part of this project this year and I’m very proud of the final result.

Videos like this from Subaru were part of the reason I bought a 2019 STI before cars like it disappear forever. One year later I am still happy I did.
I’ve always been a proud Subie owner and these videos bring me back to that feeling of my first STI test drive where I instantly fell in love. I’d love to see the full onboard lap especially with Mark narrating like he did on the Isle of Man record run. See the weight transfer and hearing the car as it runs through this road is other worldly!
I still keep my 15 years old Impreza WRX till today and still loving & proud of it even though my "friends have moved up"

The final statements on the video filled me with pride. Been a Subaru fan since 1995 McRae WRC win and an owner since buying a new 2000 2.5 RS and have owned many since. There are better looking sports cars, there are better tarmac cars, there are better family sedans but Subaru STI is the Swiss Army Knife if the sports car world. Try owning a Corvette in Vermont with children and you will see what I mean. THANK YOU to Subaru For staying true to us! Keep being awesome and we will keep buying!

Yeah but sadly its in Romania. Among the crappiest countries I've visited including Bulgaria. Not hating but the conditions of their roads are utter crap, including their driving.

@@el.G. I don't see how is that even relevant but yeah, I can handle driving, been rallying too but that's not the point. My point is that I was in Romania for a year and people there drive like morons. No education, they don't respect anything when it comes to other drivers, lines etc. And don't get me started with the condition of their roads, my car suffered there so much that I ended up removing my coilovers.

Awesome! It's great someone did such a great job to promote Transfagarasan highway this way! I like to climb it every sumer and so far managed to experience this road with my ex Golf Mk5 GTI, Mondeo 2.5t, Alfa 159 3.2 V6 and Focus ST mk2! Every time is unique and hope 2019 will manage to have another run!

I did the Transfagarasan 2 summers ago. It is a trully spectacular road. The only downside is, that it can get preety busy in the summer months (it is closed almost 3 quarters of the year due to bad weather and high risk conditions).
This is one of if not the greatest marketing campaigns ever!!

love the video, you guys should do a run at Beartooth Pass in Montana/Whyoming, it's an amazing road (one of my favorites) and would make a super awesome speed course. about 50 miles, 20+ hairpins, 200+ other turns, over 4,000ft of climbing to almost 11,000ft at the highest point, it's really incredible. just something to maybe think about

This was just as good as the Launch Control episodes at Pikes Peak Hill Climb.
I think Subaru also set the record for Pikes Peak a year or so back. previously it was David Higgins, brother of Mark, who was also driving a Subaru. but it was broken by another Subaru driver I forgot who, it may be Pastrana. the reason why it was Pastrana who broke iy because David crashed around 3/4 the way.

I was a Marshall in sector 7 and had a field of view of about 300 meters (984 ft). Each time he went past it was like a scene from mad max, that engine and blow off valve were sooo loud. A couple of times i couldn't even keep my eyes open because of the wind it made as it went past.
