The information center theme was vaporwave before vaporwave. For me. It hits that deep brain connection to my childhood and just instantly makes me smile and relax in a cloud of nostalgic bliss.
YES this song captivated me as a child. Ever since, about once a month I would think of it. Vaporwave before vaporwave is so accurate because I really feel like anytime I've dove into vaporwave, I'm always moved the most by songs that scratch this same itch.

That police station sax is so smooth. It's like, there's so many genres of music crammed in this game, and yet it never feels like a jack of all trades/master of none situation. They're ALL bangers in their respective genres.

This is the only known highest quality music from LEGO Island (1997). The original master tapes were lost in a house boat accident. Also, what I noticed is that the reason why these sound so good are because: In the original CD-ROM that likes to compress the crap out of the music. The music was 11.025KhZ and 1/4 of Human Hearing. Mono sound too. But these renewed versions are double one half the other.

Fascinating how they added so many guitar riffs into the final compressed version of "The Race" to overcompensate, though this is better without all that, and the Chase Theme, Chasing The Brickster especially, and even the Cave Theme seemed to do a little bit of this in the finished product. Love how some tracks give off Crash Bandicoot and Banjo Kazooie vibes.
Not hearing the guitar riff at 18:47 onward was jarring, truth be told. I've heard the in-game track so many times it just comes automatic to my brain. The song's still fantastic without it - a true genre-defining sound for me, since I associate EVERY racing-related thing with it, regardless of being connected to LEGO - but it just feels incomplete.
It's fascinating hearing musical parts that are super-emphasized here but extremely subtle in the final game, like a different cut, or even the same theme for a different time of day or even a new game in the series.
It has always m-mystified me too, honestly to like back in 2002 or 2003 when I could play Lego Island on the school computer... ;w; i never found out but i guess nobody ever did...

God this is a childhood dream come true, 😢 it's so beautiful, ASMR, goosebumps-inducing and amazing to finally hear these songs without all the annoying compression (technical limits of 1997). Even with some that may be gone forever, it's still so vindicating and wonderful to know so many DID make it back, I never thought this would come, and it would only be limited to me or someone remaking it with modern equipment to the best of our ability. I'm beyond grateful that so many were saved, considering I didn't think we'd ever find these. So thankful Lorin Nelson was around to ask and he had some still left.

Back in 2005, the first LEGO Island game I had was LEGO Island Xtreme Stunts (which came with "Kid's Craze: LEGO" a pack of three LEGO PC games distributed by Encore that came out in 2003 which also included LEGO Loco and LEGO Rock Raiders), then I had LEGO Island 2: The Brickster's Revenge in the same year (which wasn't as good as LIXS, but it came with another Encore PC game pack called "All Aboard! Kindergarten Adventures"), and in late 2012, I purchased the 2002 version of this game at Goodwill. It's a lot of fun to finally listen to it soundtrack in studio quality, so thanks for uploading it!

The beta mix of Chasing The Brickster really caught me off-guard, like “who thought this would be a good idea” and it’s so insane what the guitarist did to “fix” it.
The opening theme reminds me so much of Calypso-era Sesame Street. And the vocal samples of that song, and most of the other music reminds me of the styles of Mark Mothersbaugh, including Rugrats and Crash Bandicoot.

I missed this game when I was a kid, so I don't have that kind of nostalgia towards it. But I totally see why everyone else in my age has fond memories of it. This game is not the most extensive, nor is it the most action packed or whatnot. Yet it is filled to the brim with character. This game manages to remind me of better times even though I didn't catch the game when it was fresh.

Legomania is a real multi-part banger; I love that some of the lower-pitched bass, synth parts really start to sound like Sega Genesis music, not to mention the *even more* Vaporwave-seeming 1 and 3 near the end. Unused Theme 2 really gives off Mario Galaxy vibes...a weird coincidence being 10 years prior, not to mention the Brief Brickster Theme early on which gave me a Banjo Kazooie energy.

I missed this game when I was a kid, so I don't have that kind of nostalgia towards it. But I totally see why everyone else in my age has fond memories of it. This game is not the most extensive, nor is it the most action packed or whatnot. Yet it is filled to the brim with character. This game manages to remind me of better times even though I didn't catch the game when it was fresh.

Legomania is a real multi-part banger; I love that some of the lower-pitched bass, synth parts really start to sound like Sega Genesis music, not to mention the *even more* Vaporwave-seeming 1 and 3 near the end. Unused Theme 2 really gives off Mario Galaxy vibes...a weird coincidence being 10 years prior, not to mention the Brief Brickster Theme early on which gave me a Banjo Kazooie energy.
