- I started looking to buy a ring light and quickly noticed that the nice ones retail for over $200. Well that is a little more than I want to pay. In this video I show you how I made my ring light for just $30. This light works well for video and pictures.

This is one of the best DIY's of the ring light i've seen, thank you so much!! I'm so excited to start getting the parts i need to make this!! Kudos to you for doing this to benefit your setup & others, it's really helpful.
Thank you for watching! I am happy to help.
Damnnnm I'm gonna make these, I really got excited when I opened the description box and saw that u linked to the stuff u purchased. Can't wait tocweekend warrior this project!
Thanks for watching! It is fun and easy to make.
This is the safest diy ring light that I've seen so far! Thank you for being so thorough with your instructions 🙌
I am sure that you could make a light out of other things but the foam seemed to be a nice option. Thank you for watching.
Best DIY ring light tutorial I have seen thus far!
Thank you. I looked for how to make a ring light and did not find a good video and figured I had better make one :-)
This was the best DIY Ring Light!! it actually gives off a good lighting unlike others & I've been so frustrated with trying to find some good DIYs & im sooo glad I came across this !
Great! I am happy that I could help.
This is one of the best ring light projects i've ever watched! I am gonna try this in the future with a few mods, but i am looking forward to try it anyway... Amazing work!
+Alex Mello thanks! Mods are just fine haha happy my video can be a template for your build.
Seth, I just found this channel. I didn't know you had it. It actually seems like this may be more up my alley than your other one.
+Pidasian Hippie oh yah? :) I started this channel a long time ago. It was made for fun videos but now I am making it my tech channel. When we get moved into our house I am going to have have a studio space for green screen!
FleecefoxStudio Cool! I look forward to that.
very nice job, i have looked at several tutorials on ring lights and yours was a little more technical but it looks like it would last longer, and is more sturdier than the others. I would like to try this and then decorate it on the outside. Thanks
Yes a little bit of overkill but it works well. Spicing up the outside would make it look a lot better.
Amazing!!! Love it! Thank you!
You're welcome. I'm happy you like it.
I have seen about 20 vids on ring lights and yours legit was informative and clear.
Thank you. Yes I also watched several videos and there was not a good one. . . SO I made this.
This is one of the best ones I've seen yet, thank you!
I am happy you like it. Thank you.
Best one I've seen. Good job!
Woow, Thank you so much, this is the best DIY I've ever seen 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much for this idea . I need a ring light but can't afford a $250 ring light.. I left a thumbs up 👍
Love it. I will attempt to make this.
Great let me know when you have it done.

Thank you.
Você me ajudo muito. Estava a procura desse Ring Light e não sabia como fazer e não ter um pessimo acabamento. Mas foi de muita serventia. Thank you
I am happy you liked the video.
Thanks for the video
Nice well explained video, not something I will be doing but interesting all the same
+Michael Collinson thank you. Ashley is going to be doing makeup tutorials on her channel and these lights are great for removing shadows.
This is great!
Thanks! Happy it helps.
Perfeita!!!!!
Thank you for watching. :)
So cool thank you!!!
+Betty Valencia you are welcome. It works well!
Great video!! Wanna do it right now for my channel :D
Thanks for the tips, greetings from México!
+Dave Rmz thanks! The light has turned out nice! Ring lights are fun!
it's a good build I have one question about the Led and the foam is there any heat problem or melting ?
SO far the lights are cool to the touch. I dont see that they would ever get to a temp that would cause an issue. The heat gun that I use is 900 degrees and it only forms the foam. Lets hope these lights dont get to over 900!
i made one for half of the price with same lightpower :-)
and 20% of the work u do :-)
but u done it well too
+Juba Bassajew Nice! This was my first prototype. I think that it was a good project but I might make some changes in the future when I make another one.
REALLY GOOD VIDEO!
Thank you.
surely gonna try this, thanks ! how did you get that tiny subscriber logo on the right bottom of your video ? it'll be really nice if you could help me with that too :)
Thank you for watching. That button is in the settings of youtube :) I think it's the watermark setting.
+FleecefoxStudio thanks budd 😀
hey! love your DIY! but I was just wondering if adding a few more rounds of LED light would be any better or are the 3 rounds good enough? what if I did add like 3 more rounds?
Actually the light is very bright with only 3 rounds. Much more than that and it would be uncomfortable to look through.
FleecefoxStudio I think you did an amazing diy! thank you so much for replying! :)
LOVE!
+apple angel Happy to know you liked it!
Awesome!!!!
+sarika sagar thank you :)
That was awesome
Happy to help.
this is a good idea to make what the name of the metal thingy you glued on last that you attached to the umbrella stand and can that metal thingy be hook to any tripod
and is the adapter the same one you have on the description down bellow and can it be any type of led light strips i really want to make this project thanks
+Zuri Robles thank you! The metal thing came from lowes. It is 1/4" threads I am not sure of the exact name. It tightens two ropes or cables. But you can remove the hooks. As long as the threads on the tripod are 1/4" you can use this. The adapter is the one in the description. You can use any led lights. :)
Hi! Really really nice video! Thank you so much! I'm absolutely going to try this!
I have a question : do you think it would be ok if I used aluminium foil instead of silver paint ?
+The Aka Yes, it would work just fine. If you search other tutorials, you'll see that most people use aluminium foil, cause it's cheaper and likely to already have it at home. (However, silver paint will make the job easier and better looking).
+The Aka as long as the foil is not crumpled I think it would work just fine. The led lights need a smooth serface to stick to.
I'm excited to try this project!!! The only problem is the link you have for the led lights doesn't work for me, I tried looking on Amazon but the ones on there do not have the red and black wires at the end
+Queen Christine I have updated the link so with some lights that have the red and black wire. It should do all that you need it to do. Thank you for pointing out the missing link.
This is amazingggggg
Thank you! Takes a little time to make but worth it.
Awesome tutorial, I'm gonna try it, wish me luck. lol
+Liber8tedOne3 yay! Good luck. It turned out well and works like expected.
With that screw device you got from the hardware store, what do you mean it allows you to "sinch the cord together"? I'm just trying to clarify, because is that how you connect the light to the stand use that to screw it on? I don't see later in the video you do anything with that and the cord. :)
I think its called a turnbuckle. It just allows you to connect the light to a 1/4" threaded stand. I should have said its real function is to connect ropes together but we are using it for the threads for the light stand.
And which striped light you use whats smd of light you use
Oh wow, I thought women were the ones who stereotypically made things more complicated. All of that time with the string and the Sharpie.... I would have just traced something round lol.
Yes that would have made things go a lot faster. . . I guess its the engineer in me that makes things more complicated.
Love the ring light... But what I really want to know is where is that glue gun from? What brand and where did you purchased it ?
I actually used two glue guns in the video. The one you like is probably the craftsman. With the red handle. I ran out of glue sticks half way through.
Why you put strip light on inner upper side only ? Why you not put on straight flate surface ?
it looks so real
It works well. No issues so far. Thank you.
FleecefoxStudio how much would you charge me for one?
I like the idea of the how to attach the light to a stand... I may use metal though, and not foam to help support the light... i'd be scared of it tobbling over when the glue gave way from the rubber
SO far there have not been any issues. But metal should work just fine.
Awesome, I wonder if you could use a pool noodle or the gray foam used to insulate pipes. Cut or scoop out the area needed for the lights, then encircle and connect ends. As I watched you make yours I just thought about the other options, I don't know if it would work, what's your thought? I've subscribed to your channel, I've enjoyed your ideas 💡
As long as you got the ridged foam that would supply enough support. I am not sure that pipe insulation would do the trick. I was just wrapping my pipes and it is rather flimsy.
Im a little slow replying back to you, my apology. Your right, the stuff you wrap your pipes with is too thin. I'm talking about those noodles the kids use (and some adults) while swimming. Their much thicker than the pipe insulation stuff. If you don't have one just laying around, lol, you'll probably have to wait until the stores start putting out the summer fun items. Sorry for not explaining myself better, I need to get better when I'm trying to inform people about products. Have a great day.
Dianne ;)
Does it matter what type of spray paint I use? I don't want to use something that'll burst into flames the moment I turn on the LEDS ( I know, ,sounds stupid)
These LEDs are so low heat that you will be just fine. (as my experience has shown)
Great diy :) I'm gonna make it, your link for the power adapter leads to some colored lights it's weird I don't think it's the right one...
Thank you! Strange that the link was to those lights. I have changed it now. Thank you for pointing it out.
which would be better to use a 24WATT LED light or 60Watt? thanks! I'm gonna try this out!
I used the 24w and that was very bright. I have a feeling that 60w would be too much.
i followed this procedure step by step with the same adapter and same LED lights, my lights won't turn on after i plunged it :( i doubled check the wires if they were in the positive and negative output and they were...what could the problem be? please help!
Is your power supply the correct amp value for the lights that you have? That is what I would check first. The lights should be easy to install. Just the two wires to connect.
Hi,, can I ask you if you know or someone of you, if its better to buy LED diod with "cold white" or "daily white" color.... I know that its take like attribute in "K" values (like 4000K or 5000K).
So can someone of you recomand me which version is better? cold white? daily white? or in "K" ? :) thanks
having used the white light I like it alright. I guess it will depend on what type work you are doing. I know a lot of people that use this light ring are in the makeup channel business and many of them like the white light. I cant say if one is better than the other.
i found one for 59.99 on amazon debating on trying to make the own is fun tho i need one asap for makeup videos
Could you add a dimmer to those LEDS? I have some what the same ones also have a dimmer that I would like to add.
Yes you sure can. Amazon has a set of lights with the remote control dimmer.
FleecefoxStudio Thank you !
Can i know, how long is the light that you use?
These light strings come in 16 foot sections.
is that foam melted when you use that ring light?
because the lights lights are LED they do not get hot enough to melt the foam.
Will those lights get hot?
Thumbs up subbed
Do the led lights heat up? Worried it might melt the foam
Some but not too bad. I would not worry about these getting that hot.
Dear you did a big effort thank you, but really it can be made with much easier way and materials. really light weight aluminum frame to create the ring, and continue the rest of fitting the led lights inside.
that is true. You could use any housing you want it. This was my first thought on the design. I guess it's a good place to start.
we can always start somewhere you are right, ideas fly everywhere, good job anyway. regards
I'm having trouble I have the exact same lights and I don't really know how to wire them I wanted to wire them to a regular plug would you be able to tell me how to do that
To wire them you need to have the adapter that will go from two wires to a barrel plug. My light set came with that adapter. Then you need the AC to DC plug.
FleecefoxStudio my husband is an electrician buddies at work so I'm trying to do this on my own is there anyway I can just cut an old wire and wire it into that just a regular plug
Thanks for the info I'm going to Lowe's to get the piece right now
As long as you use the appropriate DC adapter you can wire the lights without the barrel plug.
I love how he never used the paint lol
Haha its true. Also I did not use the switch.if I build again I will buy the lights with remote.
May I know how to make it stand ?
The threads on the bottom attach to the tripod and it holds it up that way.
how did you stick it on to the light stand?
The metal piece that was glued into the bottom has 1/4" threads the same size as typical light stands.
whats the metal piece called and where do i purchase it from? thanks!
so. just letting everyone know that you could probably make the ring with a wreath wire. it'll probably be a bit easier and less time consuming
Sure thing! I made this video to show others that you can build your own light without any wiring skill. The housing can be many things.
I need a guy like you!
would u consider making one to sell?
Thank you for the compliment but I dont have the time at the moment to make you one. My wife and I are getting things ready for our baby and that is taking up all my time. The light is not that hard to make with a little hot glue and the lights from amazon. :)
FleecefoxStudio understood and congrats!!
Thank you.
heyyy broooo
Does it hurt the eyes?
If used for more than 10 min at a time it can get a tad annoying. But that is the same with all ring lights because they are used so close to the face.
What is the name of the cord thread thing?
Do you mean the metal part that connects to the tripod?
+FleecefoxStudio yes lol
It is some type of turnbuckle. I am not sure of the exact name.
does it get hot to touch?
Not from my experience. A little warm but not bad.
yupinaa If you use LED lights it shouldn't get hot simply because LEDs don't put off very much heat as opposed to regular light bulbs that do generate heat and could potentially be a fire hazard
Your so cute
you say around $30 then you list paint and a hot glue gun and a hot torch...those alone are way more then $30 :(
Tools not included in the build :)
If you add the cost of the car you use to go to the store that raises the cost of the ring light even more.
southernexposure123. Right?! Lol
can u make One for me 😁
Haha. It is not a very hard build. You got this!
Can i just buy one off of u?... I can't do this Lol!
So this is what poor people survive on? what an interesting documentary!

I get that a lot. I hear people are always commenting on his channel : Seth Johnson .. haha
FleecefoxStudio cheers8
i like your glue gun
Thanks. It is a craftsman from a long time ago.
Damn dude, you're super imprecise/messy😉
Yes I am not the best at arts and crafts like this.
Or u could just trace a reef lol
Absolutely! There are so many way to make the frame. This video is just a way to get you thinking of ideas!
Ife A. It's called a wreath
Kylie Drew I just died!! 😩😂😂😂
Crap !! I can't believe how hard you made this whole process. And all the supplies you had to have. RIDICULOUS!! You need to watch the ladies' videos. Geeez
I think I was 1000 sub
Nice! That was a long time coming. Most of my uploads are on my Land To House channel.
Hotmelt Glue does NOT dry, it cools down!
