Another good back drop idea is to use table covers from the dollar tree or 99 cents store! I got some really cute pink and blue polka dots table covers from there and I also have my own "homemade greenscreen" which is a green table cover and it works! It was only $1! So affordable! Love the tips tho! I really want to have photoshoots with different colored walls! I might get some back drops now! 😄
Kham & Aiden Playz hey would please subscribe to my channel I sub back:) thank you anyone who reads would like to sub to my channel let me know and I do sub back , like and comment on videos thank you:)
Thanks for sharing Maya! When I began filming I used gift wrapping paper and just through it out of focus by sitting far away like you said. It works amazing for those who are on a budget 👌🏾 thanks again Maya. 🤗
It's been 4 years since we started, but your videos were part of our early inspiration. Now that we have a Facebook group (for independent artists), I am sharing these videos with them. Thanks for providing that creative and practical spark. :)
I love your personality. Just wanna genuinely say that you have a personality, and style like no other RUclipsr. I don't watch all of your vids, but I know that your tech talks are ALWAYS gonna be beneficial.
Girl your videos have helped me so much over the years. About 2 years ago I bought my first set up from your amazon store and started my channel about a year ago! I always bump into you around church. Next time I see you I'll tell you the story! Thanks for always inspiring! xoxo
I can't thank you enough for this video! I have been searching and searching for tutorials on how to set up video. Every tutorial I found either included really expensive equipment or they left out half the information I needed. I was really about to give up until I found your videos. They are so informative and answered every question I had. Finding your videos made my day! Thank you!!!!
Awwww Mya :) Im just trying to catch up on your videos :) , Trying to improve on my set up and lighting and I see a clip of my video lol Thank you this just made my day
Thank you sooo much for putting all these video's together. Decided it's time to really jump in, I've been watching you for years, thank you for being dedicated and consistent to yourself and showing us the ropes as a result!
OMG!! This video and your 'how to film + edit on your smartphone' video just gave me life. I've been wanting to start my channel for a while, but never committed to doing it because i just can't splurge on equipment right now. Watching your videos has really given me that EXTRA push, now that i know how to use what i have to create good looking content on a budget. Thank you so much!! Xo!
This was super helpful and informative! Thank you Maya...One thing I love about you is that you are always offering useful tips and advice to other youtubers who wants to to achieve the same dreams and goals as you..some big youtubers can be "super secretive" about their editing/filming because they think it's their secret recipe to success or something.
Thank you so much! You are a lifesaver! You can always tell apart the RUclipsrs who genuinely want to help people. You are one of them. I want to eventually have a RUclips channel but I'm just now getting started with everything. I've been looking at some of these girl's videos and a lot of them are not very specific about how they made it what they use how they edit their photos etc. It made me realize damn this means they are very competitive and they really don't want other people to succeed or do better than them rather. I appreciate you for putting this together sharing this with us. You are seriously a blessing. I wish you all the success in the world. :)
I've always wanted to know youtubers did their backgrounds! This was so informative. I feel like I've learned a lot of new tricks and hacks on getting the perfect background! Thank you so much!!!!!!
IDK, maybe an IPhone. I've seen many cellphone videos on YT and I've often wished the angle or lighting was better when doing tutorials, or the picture was focused better. You are a pro. I was hoping you could give tips
I don't know if this is weird but your tech videos are definitely my favorite videos to watch. Like these are the questions many people have but no one on RUclips ever really goes in depth about. Like they might mention the camera they use but that's basically it. I can't wait for your updated video on the technology you use. I feel like you just uploaded one not too long ago but that might be because I've watched it so many times lol. Thank you for this video and definitely can;t wait to see more. Is Samy's the best place you know to get drop back rolls of paper? Or do you know of any other stores or websites? Would it be possible if you did a video on your staple jewelry pieces.
i just wanted to come back to your channel and tell you thank you ive been on youtube a year now since i first watched your video you taught me how to build my studio and i just appreciate your channel.
Love this thank you!! I was almost about to buy pvc pipes to make a backdrop but you rolling up the back drops from the ground to the ceiling was a game changer for me!
I know I’m waaay late to the game but thank you for a video like this. I can find loads of videos about lighting, camera etc but far less about setting up actual background studio looks. This will help.
I STUMBLED ON YOU BECAUSE OF MY LOVE OF PRINCE AND LOVED THE STORY YOU SHARED ON YOUR JOURNEY WITH HIM. HAD NOOOOOO IDEA YOU WERE A TECHIE. APPRECIATED THIS VIDEO SOOOOOOO MUCH BECAUSE OF YOUR CONSIDERATION OF "LOW/NO BUDGET BALLERS" IN THIS RUclips VIDEO GAME. GREAT VIDEO!
I'm using a green screen for all bg as I can change it and can use a blurry photo for a bg instead of spending a lot of money on a lens with the right depth of field for that bokeh effect. And I can change bg at any point in the video.
This is so helpful thank you so much. I am a high school junior and I love photography and film. Do you have any tips for beginners with a very low budget ? And I really want a DSLR but I can't afford it obviously lol but do you have any suggestions to spice up my iPhone photos ? I hope you see this
I actually really dig your videos. This is only the second one, but there is something that I just really like about the way you do yours. You're kinda amazing. I especially like that they are short and helpful. Thank you!!
Loved your video, it was short and to point. Gave me many ideas for mobile photography studio. So many other video, the presenter starts off of tangent and just loves to hear themselves talk.
Thank you maya for videos like this because literally my home studio was designed around this and i reference this everytime I feel like somethings missing ❤ love you much
Cotton :/ a good camera all depends on your budget. a high tech one can cost over $500 or more. if you're just starting off i suggest one of the canon powershot cameras or sony a5100 or nikon d3300
Shameless Maya, you are SHAMELESSLY genius. Thank you so much for this video. In less than 7 minutes you explained everything that I've been trying to figure out for days! Subbed in a split second)
Your tip for utilizing backdrop paper was smart! I’ve been struggling to find the right backdrop to film in front of but I also love your lifestyle option. Gemini’s and decisions lol! Awesome video!
Love your vibe and energy. Thank you for the knowledge can't believe I subscribed before finishing your first video. Again thank you for the knowledge . May you attract all you want
How do they get that halo light to be centered right behind them on the backdrop paper? For example if the backdrop paper is pink like yours there would be a lighter pink circle exactly behind the RUclipsr.
It's Tabaitha - use a little table lamp, place it directly behind where you are sitting! i have done this once before and it added so much more light to a video and gave that "halo light" in the background
First video of yours I've seen. Great tips for anyone starting out. Something else your viewers can do (if they don't mind painting and such) is to find maybe a pallet or set of doors - or even old flooring - paint it to their liking and use that as a backdrop. Obviously you need to have the space to store it but it's just another way to change things up! Keep doing your thing; ove your energy!
I’m so excited that I found your channel! Literally so informational especially for someone starting out a channel and no having any idea where to start! Thank you! ❤️
You remind me of the reason why I got my degree in broadcasting. I have a camera and need editing software and brush up on my skills because I haven't edited a video in 2 years. Thanks for the video!

Just out here schoolin 😂 thanks boo

Honestly don't know what I would do without your tech talk videos. Greatly appreciate you!

Nope hi
Ama Twumasi lets support eachother
Nahhhhhhhh
Can you do a tutorial on how to use a cellphone when making a video including the lenses needed to do it?
Which cell though?!?
IDK, maybe an IPhone. I've seen many cellphone videos on YT and I've often wished the angle or lighting was better when doing tutorials, or the picture was focused better.
You are a pro. I was hoping you could give tips
+EH CBunny done!
Shameless Maya Thanks. Be sure to include tablets in your title because many YT uploaders mention they are using tablets as well
+EH CBunny thanks for the heads up!
I don't know if this is weird but your tech videos are definitely my favorite videos to watch. Like these are the questions many people have but no one on RUclips ever really goes in depth about. That little tidbit out depth of field was absolutely brilliant! Thanks!
can you talk about copyright on youtube and how you resolve it
I have! Look for it in my tech talk playlist! Link in info box
oh i haven't seen it. Thanks for answering me!! :)
Shameless Maya hi your so inspiring
Omg how much do I love the idea for backdrop paper!!! SO excited about going out and getting a bunch of colors
If you turn your camera vertical then won't you have vertical bars
You will! But you can always put something fun in those verticals like text, graphics anything! Have multiple images
Shameless Maya what if I'm recording and putting it on RUclips, what do I do about the vertical lines then ?
Shameless Maya what camera do u use?
Love this thank you!! I was almost about to buy pvc pipes to make a backdrop but you rolling up the back drops from the ground to the ceiling was a game changer for me!

Hey, what lens model did you use for that lovely blurry background? :)
I’ve been binge watching these all day I’m so excited to make my channel better with these videos!
Oh my gosh your hair, I love how much you rock short hair!!!
I love these tech talks!!!
yay!!! she's back with them!
I thought u used a green screen to switch between colours!
i know right! Now it shows how much effort Maya puts for her vids!
I was thinking the same thing lol i don't feel bad at least I'm not the only one
I'm using a green screen for all bg as I can change it and can use a blurry photo for a bg instead of spending a lot of money on a lens with the right depth of field for that bokeh effect. And I can change bg at any point in the video.
602 people are jealous of how amazing this woman is! I have to do this when I vlog!
The camera tilting is an awesome idea!! I used it for ingame photomodes but I never thought to extend it to the real world!
Nice video!
This was so helpful! Thank you so much love
This is so helpful thank you so much. I am a high school junior and I love photography and film. Do you have any tips for beginners with a very low budget ? And I really want a DSLR but I can't afford it obviously lol but do you have any suggestions to spice up my iPhone photos ? I hope you see this
She recommended the app snapseed to enhance her photos and certain vintage lens if remember correctly.
Check out her tech haul +review

Shameless Maya omg thank you
You are very positive and helpful. Thank you, I love your videos!!
I'm watching this in 2017! This is timeless. Thank you!!
Am watching in 2021 anyways am a subscriber and I love your videos
This video was LIFE!!. I am so not creative with the back drops and this saved me!! Thank you BOO!!
You can DIY backdrops with fabric. Arnell Armon (sp?) (Alissa Ashleys twin sister) has a beautiful one with glitter
I love this video, it is really informative. The ones that I've watched talked too much about stuff that doesn't really matter. Good job!
I love this video. I use my creative mindset as well. Creation creates art
As a new RUclipsr, This video has been really helpful... you inspire me, girl
Still (re)watching this in 2021 as I move into my new home office.... thank you, Maya
Um 2020 anyone? Cause they are bored as heck!

I actually really dig your videos. This is only the second one, but there is something that I just really like about the way you do yours. You're kinda amazing. I especially like that they are short and helpful. Thank you!!

Thank you maya for videos like this because literally my home studio was designed around this and i reference this everytime I feel like somethings missing ❤ love you much
I found everything helpful, but one thing I need to know is,What's a good camera?
Cotton :/ a good camera all depends on your budget. a high tech one can cost over $500 or more. if you're just starting off i suggest one of the canon powershot cameras or sony a5100 or nikon d3300
Thx!
Cotton :/ I would suggest to start on maybe an iPhone/iPad. Their quality isn't bad, and after a while you could start upgrading to a camera.
I have an IPhone 5c 😏 though
Cotton Cannon Rebel T6 or T5. I own this camera and it's amazing.
wooww you are amazing seriously.....its really very helpful for me thanks😊
I love this I want to have my own walk in makeup room type thing .
Shameless Maya, you are SHAMELESSLY genius. Thank you so much for this video. In less than 7 minutes you explained everything that I've been trying to figure out for days! Subbed in a split second)
Great ideas. I especially liked the one about using fabric as a backdrop. I didn't think about that.
I started my youtube channel and this helped me a lot. thank you!!
First video I saw was ur bitcoin video I subscribed half way through. I love your personality on camera. Very hard to achieve.
I just started my youtube and this is so helpful! Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
Your tip for utilizing backdrop paper was smart!
Ok i have finally seen it youtube. Happy?
Hey Random people scrolling through the comments x
Jaimee Fox hi
So far I have a backdrop but I need a good light. Lol I’m using this small LED lamp at the moment with natural light but it works l.
this was such a good video! I want to work on my environment setting...I like the home feel sometimes
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!...I AM A NEW YOU-TUBER, AND YOU HELP ME OUT A LOT!!!!...YOU ARE ALSO A VERY POSITIVE HUMBLE PERSON!!
How do they get that halo light to be centered right behind them on the backdrop paper? For example if the backdrop paper is pink like yours there would be a lighter pink circle exactly behind the RUclipsr.
It's Tabaitha that's what I want to know too, like on Nikki Tutorial and Jeffrey Star's but they never tell us! hope Mya see's this question 😣
It's Tabaitha I think it is the positioning of the other two lights, so that they full the back ground. There are videos tgat explain it really well!!
It's Tabaitha - use a little table lamp, place it directly behind where you are sitting! i have done this once before and it added so much more light to a video and gave that "halo light" in the background
It's Tabaitha i
Use filler lights !
great tips ughhh I want to put you in my pocket !
She so cute
OMG!!!!
It was very helpful! New subscriber here. 💕💕💕
Bong Amolong l am hear

First video of yours I've seen. Great tips for anyone starting out. Something else your viewers can do (if they don't mind painting and such) is to find maybe a pallet or set of doors - or even old flooring - paint it to their liking and use that as a backdrop. Obviously you need to have the space to store it but it's just another way to change things up! Keep doing your thing; ove your energy!
