Thank you. My daughter wanted a trouser suit. But the pattern was too small for her. I managed to adjust the trousers without issue. They fitted great until she asked for them to be baggy - ugh. However, the fitted jacket was scaring me. Miraculously, an hour after I said that to her, this came up on YT. So this morning I went through it with my measurements. I am now going to do it for her then lay the pattern pieces on top so I can work out how to add the extra inches. Phew this saved me some stress
The video is very good for a beginner. I was struggling to draft my bodice in class and this really gave me a better idea than the booklet that teacher gave us.
I can't thank you enough for this video!! I've been trying many different "draft a bodice block-tutorials" but none gave me a good result until I found yours. I was about to give up and then I decided to give it one more try! THANK YOU!! Im so happy now! :D
could you possibly drop a video of you taking measurements of yourself so we can have a visual guide of how to take the measurements correctly?? that would be so very helpful
This is a very good tutorial. It's actually simple yet not beginner friendly because there's a lot of little details to keep in mind. So far I am pleased to find your channel. I love how you snatched the waist and also how you create darts. I will be conversing with a friend about your channel and meticulousness. Considering how you create darts, I see that after the manipulation you have what's like a V connecting the darts feet with a center line at the V curve. Isn't it possible to just go ahead and draw the V curve with my ruler without having to manipulate the paper to achieve that?
The seam allowance was added to test for fit. Typically you are not meant to add seam allowance to a block. Seam allowance can only be added when a pattern for a design is completed. At that point you can add seam allowance to all the seams.
@@Thefashionarchitect thank you. I always get confused because most videos does add side seam allowances but not to the neck and arm hole and also sometimes to shoulders. Was wondering why that is.
In front shoukder dart you said smaller bust 2cm and bigger bust 1cm. What is size range for smaller bust and bigger bust ?? Could you please mention ??
@bmbrooklyn. I think most courses like that allow you access to the course until you stop paying the monthly fee. It's like hiring a car, the car belongs to the company.
Hello ,l want to learn how to analyze style when l seen them and to draft it .Can l get that on you pattern courses? If yes, please reach out to me . Thanks
Thank you very much! Please is it correct to have 7cm as the difference between the Front bodice length and the Back bodice length? Is it too much or you can have it higher than that?
I've recently started attending a course about pattern drafting and i cannot tell you how usefull your tutorial was to me ! Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation, looking forward for more pattern drafting tutorials baybe about skirts and trousers. Well done and wishing you the very best of luck with your channel 💖👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎉☘
Thank you for your kind words! It’s great to know that in my own little way, I’ve been able to contribute. There’s definitely more to come. Here’s wishing you all the best on your pattern drafting journey! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks a lot 💖 i'm currently watching your playlist with a cup of tea in hand ☺ ☕ cause i only discovered your channel yesterday & I'm looking forward to see your channel grow 👕👖🧥👗👚✂️📏📍
Hi! It all balances out when the darts are sewn. Unless in some cases where the difference between the center front and side seam is very much, then you’d need to confirm the side seam measurement from the human figure and make the necessary adjustments to the side seams. This should fix it. I hope this answers your question.
Something that always bothers me: why is bust measurement is divided by 4? My back is not the same with as my front. I'm a 32E bra size (i have narrow back. And shoulders). This would make my back too wide, but my front too tight. If we want to be precise, should we measure the back and front portions separately as well?
Hi! So this problem is mostly caused by the nape-waist measurement being too long. With the accurate measurement, you wouldn’t have the bulge problem. There’s also a shaping at the back that is required for fitted garments. I’ll most likely teach that in another video. ❤️
Thank so much for this videos, its really helpful..please ma when sewing this pattern, did u sew the shoulder dart i mean close it with sewing machine or you left it and its just fit like that??
Hello! Thanks for this question. The measuring tape has two sides. One is in inches and the other in centimeters. An easy way to convert the measurements is if you need to find 20inches in cm for example, simply find where 20inches falls on your tape, hold it and flip to the other side of your tape. You will have that measurement in centimeters. The trick is to do this for all your measurements before you start drafting so you have all your measurements in cm. I hope this helps.

Hey guys! Do you want to learn how I draft my Trouser block? I’ve got a new video for you on the channel. Don’t miss it!
I found this very helpful, the downside is that there are sections of the video where the sound disappears.

You can divide the centimeter measurements by 2.54 to get inches.
I will need to watch this a couple of times to grasp all the information you have provided.
Great video. Thank you.
This class is very amazing and useful

In front there's a dart coming from the shoulder. Do we hv to sew it but i cant see that in your sewn blouse

Oh no, there is nothing wrong with that. For some very busty people, it could be as high as 15cm difference.

Thanks for this. Are we not going to have V shapes or corners at the center front and centre back due to the front extension (triangle at the bottom)

I incorporated the difference between front and back length and made it a front side dart. It works well also. Thanks was just sharing.
which body measurement is it? 8,10 or 12?

Hello, Thank you so much for this elaborate breakdown. is this going to eliminate the bulge one usually see at the zipper?

Thanks. Is the pattern drafted the same for girls with a very very small bust?
Yes, it is!
Please ma... Is it also applicable to men's wear
No, it is strictly for women.
I mean tutorial for a basic sleeve pattern to match tutorial of basic bodice. Thank you .

Why is it having a shoulder dart
This method is created with a shoulder dart, but it can be moved to any other position on the bodice using dart manipulation.
