    Thank you. My daughter wanted a trouser suit. But the pattern was too small for her. I managed to adjust the trousers without issue. They fitted great until she asked for them to be baggy - ugh. However, the fitted jacket was scaring me. Miraculously, an hour after I said that to her, this came up on YT. So this morning I went through it with my measurements. I am now going to do it for her then lay the pattern pieces on top so I can work out how to add the extra inches. Phew this saved me some stress

    This is a very good tutorial. It's actually simple yet not beginner friendly because there's a lot of little details to keep in mind. So far I am pleased to find your channel. I love how you snatched the waist and also how you create darts. I will be conversing with a friend about your channel and meticulousness.
    Considering how you create darts, I see that after the manipulation you have what's like a V connecting the darts feet with a center line at the V curve. Isn't it possible to just go ahead and draw the V curve with my ruler without having to manipulate the paper to achieve that?

    • @Thefashionarchitect
      @Thefashionarchitect  10 месяцев назад +2

      The seam allowance was added to test for fit. Typically you are not meant to add seam allowance to a block. Seam allowance can only be added when a pattern for a design is completed. At that point you can add seam allowance to all the seams.

    • @Thefashionarchitect
      @Thefashionarchitect  10 месяцев назад

      Hi! So this problem is mostly caused by the nape-waist measurement being too long. With the accurate measurement, you wouldn’t have the bulge problem. There’s also a shaping at the back that is required for fitted garments. I’ll most likely teach that in another video. ❤️

    Something that always bothers me: why is bust measurement is divided by 4? My back is not the same with as my front. I'm a 32E bra size (i have narrow back. And shoulders). This would make my back too wide, but my front too tight. If we want to be precise, should we measure the back and front portions separately as well?

    • @Thefashionarchitect
      @Thefashionarchitect  Год назад +1

      Hi! It all balances out when the darts are sewn. Unless in some cases where the difference between the center front and side seam is very much, then you’d need to confirm the side seam measurement from the human figure and make the necessary adjustments to the side seams. This should fix it.
      I hope this answers your question.

    • @Thefashionarchitect
      @Thefashionarchitect  Год назад +1

      Hello! Thanks for this question.
      The measuring tape has two sides. One is in inches and the other in centimeters. An easy way to convert the measurements is if you need to find 20inches in cm for example, simply find where 20inches falls on your tape, hold it and flip to the other side of your tape. You will have that measurement in centimeters.
      The trick is to do this for all your measurements before you start drafting so you have all your measurements in cm.
      I hope this helps.
