This is awesome, thank you very much! I just wrote all my measurements down, now I'm going to draw the bodice. 🥰 If your viewers don't want to search, here are the measurements they need: 1. Neck circumference (0:06) 2. Shoulder width (0:31) 3. Armhole circumference (1:03) 4. Bust circumference (1:28) 5. Shoulder to waist (2:20) 6. Waist to hip (2:42) 7. Waist circumference (3:04) 8. Hip circumference (3:17) 9. Bust span (3:37) 10. Bust depth (3:56)
@@manuelapineros-rodriguez278 I'm sorry, I wrote the comment and made the bodice 6 months ago so I don't really remember. I just rewatched the shoulder-to-waist-part and she only measures the front. Maybe it was somehow adjusted later in the video when we draw the bodice? Or maybe not... 😁 The only thing I know is that it worked out fine for me. 😊
I toke an hour but I was able to follow along and create my own!! Thank you 🙏 not everyone can go to school and thanks you people like you who share your knowledge others can achieve there dreams… bless you!
I can't thank you enough for this tutorial! It is the best tutorial on the internet, if I could like this video 1000 times I definitely would cause you deserve it. I tried nearly every possible video on youtube on how to draft a basic bodice pattern and they were all bad. The front piece and the back piece wouldn't match it wouldn't fit nicely on the body either, the same thing with digital patterns I bought online or downloaded for free. I made this bodice sloper in all sizes and they are all flawless thanks to this video. THANK YOU SO MUCH! ♥♥
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for this tutorial❤. I’ve spent evenings/ weekends to make a basic bodice block from other RUclips creators/book but none of them fit, doesnt even come close to fit my body. I followed your tutorial and only had to make minor tweaks. This tutorial was so clear and straight forward.
Could you please make one video just for sleeves. You clearly shows everything,it will be really helpful for beginners if you do one just on sleeves with your magical style. God bless you dear
The best tutorial. No lengthy explanation. Very practical & straight to the point with the formulas & drawing the basic bodice. I forgot what I learnt ages ago from my late grandma. :o)
May I just mention.... I love the back ground music you're using! It sounds like Yiruma, a Korean famous pianist! Im a music lover, that type I hear from this video! I made the patterns that I copied here. just need to try it on fabric. I finally got my serger and Im so happy about it! Now I can start my actual sewing! I think I already made the patterns I need, thank you so much. I have learned a lot from this channel! Im a beginner and learning thru YT and your channel! Even I don't hear any word, your hand and pen speaks louder! Thank you so much! Till the next video!
I have always wanted to learn creating my own basic bodice pattern. From what I seen it always seem to look so intimidating, but your video was so informative and straight forward with easy instructions. I look forward to trying this in the coming weeks. I thank you so much for creating this video. Have a wonderful day. ☕🙏🏼😊👏🏼🤯❤️🔥
Thank you for your detailed demo. It is very easy to follow. The most important thing is you also added the inches in measurement in some area. I really appreciate your sharing for beginner like me.
This is by far the best detailed tutorial on bodice and sleeves 👌👏😍 ill keep watching it over and over again till I master it. Thank you so much for sharing.
This was so, so helpful. Thank you very much for creating such a clear, precise and detailed video of the steps in bodice patterning, especially as you start from the neck and other parts follow logically from that. I have tried making blocks using several well known authors (in the English speaking parts of the world, anyway!) and became frustrated because they did not work for my body. This video enabled me to make a good new bodice block that worked for me. 🎉
Thank you so much for this video 🙏🏻 I was looking to refresh my patern making skills after 45 years...this really brought it all back and gave me confidence. Love all your videos. Blesses to you! Love from Guatemala ♡
So clear that it is easy to follow. I've tried drafting before - so fiddly and complex that I'd given up. Just discovered you and what a wonderful mine of info. Thanks so much! Sandra, thanks Sandra for listing the measurements.

@@Thuysewing Hi, please explain the calculations for the neck for the bodice draft. My humongous neck measures 14 inches in circumference. Is it divided by 2? Thank you from a very new sewing lady. ❤ Also, what is the title to the music? It is beautiful!🎶🎹
Finally! Someone who knows how to draft using proper tools and measurements not freehand curves and gauging by eye. I have a degree in fashion design and am always so annoyed by sewing tutorials that don’t show proper techniques but tips and tricks.
I love the way you demonstrate. However, may I suggest one extra step that would help the beginner like me tremendously, e.g. NECK = 35cm/5 = 7cm. A small detail (by adding the number to the measured body part) would be very helpful. Many thanks. 🌵

Amazing video! Very easy to follow, straight forward. I'm new to sewing and hope to make a dress soon. Quick question, does this include seam allowances or do we have to add them after this? Also does this work for all bodice sizes? If I'm making a size 10 dress or a plus size dress would I have to make any modifications anywhere (bust depth at 04:11 move down 1" - would I move down more or can I keep this measurment) ?
Hello ! Just tried to my bodice following your instructions and it went GREAT ! I recently start sewing and was looking for a video that could teach me in detail. Thank you so much ! Looking forward to make project with this base ❤
Yes, it's ease, it's standard ease, if you use stretchy fabric and want to fit, no need add ease or + 0.5cm for front then -0.5cm for back( front bodice is bigger than back because the bust in front), they will be back to original measurements
@@Thuysewing In the other video the basic bodice one without dart, you didn’t add any ease and you mentioned ease is only given when making a shirt. So I am a bit confused.
i love the fact she gets straight to the point without all that babbling and everything is clear. thank you for sharing your knowledge

8. Hip circumference (3:17)
9. Bust span (3:37)
10. Bust depth (3:56)
It's me again and I'm so excited! I just test-sewed the bodice with some leftover fabric and it fits perfectly! Thank you so much, Thuy! ❤️
Thanks!
Awesome, thanks
Small question: for shoulder to waist should the measurement be taken separately for front and back?
