Terrell, my mom just died yesterday and I’ve been completely beside myself and just can’t believe it . She just turned 70 this month and I lost my grandma and my mom in 2022, within 10 months apart. . I’m so down, but watching your videos relaxes me and I actually cracked a smile on this episode , thank you for that . I really enjoy watching your channel. It’s entertaining and I have learned a lot About small engines when before I knew about was Chevy V8 and LS motors .
I'm pretty sure this is the exact deck they also rebrand and sell on the Craftsman PGT9000. The belt part number is for a belt that a little too long so after you replace it once you are always fighting it. I will probably try this fix as well. I already relocated the other idler pully to add more tension. The one problem I could see from this fix is when the spring pulls the tensioner arm too far it gets really close to touching the belt towards the back. Another thing about these decks is the raising/lowering pulleys. I've found an okay metal replacement one to use but they still pop the cable off from time to time. I would love another video of this machine fixing that for good and the horrible steering.
Taryl and gang, this skit is funny as all get out (Jimbo here, watching over here in Texas). LOL, got a good healthy laugh throwing Ronnie back and forth over that fence to T. Jr. Keep up the great work guys, jam up RUclips channel here and lots of great information to boot!!! :)
Not directly applicable to my ZRT-L belt tensioner; still so many practical upgrades to chintzy engineering. I don't know what else to call it. I got several ideas as to how to upgrade an S hook in a wore out hole; causing the deck belt to jump off. The S hook (cheap) wallowed out the punched hole (real cheap engineering) in the deck resulting in rubbing the belt and causing it to jump off. Kudos and thanks so much guys.
I'm so happy to find this channel :) love the entertaining stories and even though I do all types of repairs since I was a kid, this is good content. Keep it up!
Lol I love watching these videos. My 07 Cub Cadet 1040 LTX belts only broke once in 14 yrs until last year now a belt never stays on and rubs. I get just part of my yard mowed then BAM! Repair shop can't find anything wrong. Very annoying.
while the video is supposed to be funny ? At least I think it's SUPPOSE to be. To all those watching. Step one: do the required maintenance at the correct interval - read the factory pamphlets. Next if you do like this owner did and failed Step 1; Step 2 replace all broken parts, worn parts, and make all PROPER adjustments. If you do this you DO NOT NEED TO ALTER FACTORY DESIGN. Step 3: If parts are no longer available then try to alter to make it work. fixing things CHEAP is never the least expensive!!!
I sure am glad I watched Taryl's video because my pro clutch bearings seized up and smoked my belt, and I didn't think about it when I got it going and my idler pulley was shaking real bad and I ordered a new arm and spring so I guess I'll be sending them back, since it was my belt. Thanks Taryl, you sure save me a lot of money instead of taking it to the shop.
I wonder if you can just replace the front drive pully. I think they wear deeper, ruining the belt tension. Maybe a combination of things. Then, the deck "floats" and you need to get it to go further back to get the right tension. Possibly a combination of things. Don't try a shorter belt, even two inches makes a difference. These things are a pain.
That mower was like the Commodore Holden imported from Germany in Australia, I always have to re engineer that because that's too wimpy. My 16 year old Commodore has the Chevy LS1 engine & T56 Tremec manual transmission in it so it's not wimpy, rather strong & solid. Oh ! About Ronnie getting thrown over the fence, why is that always me in Newcastle ?
I just made an adapter plate and used the hole for attaching the shield just to the left of the one he drilled to change the spring location. I cut a slot in the guard to avoid having to take the bolt out when I need to change the belt.
How can I make my cub cadet 1525 riding mower drive a little faster while mowing. Should I tighten or change the tension spring or change to a different size drive spindle? Thanks.
I got a question for ya.. I have an old Husqvarna YTH21K46 48in cut with a 21hp Kohler. I have to cut about 4 acres every 2 weeks. Every 3 cuts, I have to replace my belt because it burns off. I replaced both spindles, tensioner, idler and blades. I would like to know how I could go about replacing the 1/2 in belt with a 5/8 in. Total length according to the manual is 105.5 inches. Do I have to replace any pulleys to accommodate a thicker belt? Is there a recommended belt that will last longer?
My deck has a height adjustment of 1 through 6, I have to run it on 6 or my belt that runs the blades slips, keeps getting worse and worse. Is the belt just worn out, and to stretched ?
Anyone else have an issue with the inside of the belt getting grooved by the tensioner pulley? Sits way to close to the tensioner pulley at the long stretch along the rear of the deck. Wondering if anyone has added extra idler pulley to keep belt from rubbing on tensioner pulley.
What Taryl says makes sense I did this back in April the friggin day we got SNOW here in the north east the day before it was warm and I got the up on the work table & off the machine and did the same exact operation of relocating that spring bolt. I replaced the spring from my junk drawer as well found one with a little more balls to it and presto no more belt jumpin off the RR tracks...
The belt has a spot that has been burnt out. In effect the burnt out section makes the belt (diameter) smaller as it passes around the pulleys. This small to large to small over and over causes the jumping around of everything.
They had a loose belt the whole time , that's why the belt is worn and jumping off , then they broke the brace and they couldn't mow anymore . That's why you have to fix the first problem before more damage happens . always listen to your mower , they do talk to you .
Hey buddy, i need ur help i added a predator 708cc to a cub cadet who had no motor and harness. So i added a starter solinoid and a push start button, a toggle switch for the magneto and connect 12v to the gas solenoid but still cant figure out whats wrong maybe u can help thanks in advance 😀
you need to do a video on a cub cadet Vtwin .I had to guess on some of my cub cadet with your videos .I have had to change belts and pulley's and blades and of course the OHV gasket .I also hate where they put the oil change port ,it is really in close quarters ,so lucky my hands are small .Also those covers over the belts catch everything and hard to clean out .LTX 1042 with only 157 hours on it .
one problem that I;ve seen with scrub cadeers is that they put all there bolts down threw the deck making it easy for grass to get caught on the nuts ; when I rebuild the decks I use stove bolts and put them up threw from the bottom; it makes for less chance for grass plugging ; plus a person should be smart enough to mow the grass when the grass is as dry as possible or less humid conditions
Taryl, I bought one of your T-shirts with your face on the front. When I wear it people look at me like I'm nuts:) Then I tell 'em about your RUclips channel... There's your dinner!
Cub cadet should pay attention here had to do some reengineering on my M 48 tank it kept throwing PTO belts when I first bought it they had the spacers wrong on the deck for the PTO Pulley I think every mower engineer should have to work in the shop for five years before they’re allowed to design mower
Some good ideas, I have a GT1554 Cub that I have had many issues over the years with belt issues for all kind of reasons, Im hoping these upgrades your are talking about with others I have found on RUclips will help me solve these irratating issues.
Napa sell you one won't stay on five minutes then try find out why and two years of hell later manager there when get another says we have to order cub belt . I near killed guy behind counter said that son of a bitch sold me ten in last two years been hell since
Nothing to hard for Taryl! Thanks for sharing your PH (positively hilarious) experiences with us N.O.P.E.'s. Can you put electrical black tape on that belt where the missing belt is? Just asking for a friend. ( Ronnie says don't say it's him.)
anyone know who does the music periodically played during Taryl fixes all? Its guitar only instrumental - sometimes a chorus. please answer, thanx And theres your dinner
Thanx for replying! By the way my initials are reversed of your "DT".Please hit Ronnie Jergenstein for me - how dare he try to scam you and everyone (especially Mr Bear) Later gator "And theres yur dinner! Only seen Jeryl once/

Yeah, life can be out of border of just a plain overwhelming pain.
I’m sorry about your grandmother and mother, I hope things have been better for you since you posted this ☮️💜
I just put a few more holes in the deck so you can get more tension and use longer belts on the deck
I'm pretty sure this is the exact deck they also rebrand and sell on the Craftsman PGT9000. I have never laughed so hard, Ronnie was getting it from both sides of the fence.
Another excellent video thanks to all of you for making Sunday's even better

Missed your happy dance at the end when it was fixed. WOOOOOOO WOOOOOOOOOOO !

Lovin' the Ronnie volley!
Excellent video Tayrl/Junior!!.
I've never seen Ronnie do more flyin'then a 747 jet ✈...HAHAHA!!.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👍
I'm so happy to find this channel :) love the entertaining stories and even though I do all types of repairs since I was a kid, this is good content. Keep it up!
Ronnie’s racking up the frequent flyer miles! 🤣
Lol I love watching these videos. My 07 Cub Cadet 1040 LTX belts only broke once in 14 yrs until last year now a belt never stays on and rubs. I get just part of my yard mowed then BAM! Repair shop can't find anything wrong. Very annoying.
.2020 now and I made all repairs you suggested. Everything is working very well so far! Thank You For Sharing your Tips & Tricks.
"N.O.P.E. - nuckleheads operating power equipment" lol! I bout died when he said that.
Taryl your the best buddy “It’s 2018 and people still don’t know how to cut grass “ well here we are 22 and yup still a problem 😂😂😂
Thanks!
Another great Taryl episode for the win!
"something you are doing pathetic , isn't it sad ' he said, that's ME LOL.
Taryl on a cub cadet like that one with a 22hp Kohl twin cylinder , how do adjust the backlash on the values. Thanks any help Leec

Diggin the dirty knees Taryl..... LMAO
I dont recall a opening drone camera shot before. Nice touch.
I know yo guys work hard on these videos, and I appreciate it . You are the BEST, Period.
My brother in-law throws belts with every mower he gets. He takes the guides off so it's easier to put the belt back on. Stupid!
5:40 looks like they cut the bolt to hold the spring.
I lost it when he introduced himself. i died out laughing
I just made an adapter plate and used the hole for attaching the shield just to the left of the one he drilled to change the spring location. I cut a slot in the guard to avoid having to take the bolt out when I need to change the belt.
I have a question regarding my Poulan 42, why the drive belt keeps coming off from the fan rear pulley?
How can I make my cub cadet 1525 riding mower drive a little faster while mowing. Should I tighten or change the tension spring or change to a different size drive spindle?
Thanks.
Hell even when it's 2020 ppl still don't know how to mow grass.... It's not the damn space shuttle ppl.
Ah, I've missed Ronnie. Good to see him again :-)
At the beginning of the video when Taryl threw Ronnie on the ground, I thought to myself: "self, you haven't seen anyone go over the fence in awhile!"
Outstanding Repair ! Always Cheers Me Up To Watch You And Yours Having Fun Making Video's !
I have a LT1046 and it's been a great mower apart from that stupid ass deck/pulley set up In always working on bearings and replacing belts
Belt keeps getting thrown and so does Ronnie ! Great vid and fix thanks boys

Poor Ronnie, I think he is just misunderstood.........NOT.
I LOVE your vids!
Anyone else have an issue with the inside of the belt getting grooved by the tensioner pulley? Sits way to close to the tensioner pulley at the long stretch along the rear of the deck. Wondering if anyone has added extra idler pulley to keep belt from rubbing on tensioner pulley.
You tell em boy, you tell em N.O.P.E how to mow grass.... then again maybe not, belt sales are good right now!
Holy crap - that deck jumps around a lot. Are those blades massively out of balance or something?
The belt has a spot that has been burnt out. In effect the burnt out section makes the belt (diameter) smaller as it passes around the pulleys. This small to large to small over and over causes the jumping around of everything.
There’s Yur Dinner 😀😀😀🇺🇸
I just put my spring in the hole right above the hole that you drill and it worked great on mine and I've done that years ago
Like it Taryl...good job on the upgrade mods. See ya next Sunday. Have a good week!
hi do i need to change my pully to or not thanks david
Ran across a Craftsman with the same issue. Good job, as ALWAYS
I think a shorter belt giving a better angle to that bender instead of changing spring attachement location
Yep...that has to be the wrong belt. A belt would probably fix the whole problem by the way that deck was jumping around at the end.
They had a loose belt the whole time , that's why the belt is worn and jumping off , then they broke the brace and they couldn't mow anymore . That's why you have to fix the first problem before more damage happens . always listen to your mower , they do talk to you .
Man , I enjoy watching your videos , they are hilarious , y'all do a great job and I learn stuff too
Link to the bigger pulley?
can u run a 5/8 belt on the mowing deck when I look up the part number i get mixed results of 5/8 and 1/2 954-0642
Hey buddy, i need ur help i added a predator 708cc to a cub cadet who had no motor and harness. So i added a starter solinoid and a push start button, a toggle switch for the magneto and connect 12v to the gas solenoid but still cant figure out whats wrong maybe u can help thanks in advance 😀
My 50in cub belt doing the same thing any ideas LTX
"It's 2018 and people still can't cut grass can u believe it" yup I can 👍😂😂😂
Trail what is the best brand of pressure washer to buy?
Is wrong belt need cub belt or gates brand on cub
Love all the useful info you share. Thanks.
you need to do a video on a cub cadet Vtwin .I had to guess on some of my cub cadet with your videos .I have had to change belts and pulley's and blades and of course the OHV gasket .I also hate where they put the oil change port ,it is really in close quarters ,so lucky my hands are small .Also those covers over the belts catch everything and hard to clean out .LTX 1042 with only 157 hours on it .

You should add auto v belts will not last on mowers
I love my Z-Force-S Cub Cadet .I have NEVER loved a lawn mower before
You know how you fix a post 1990 Cub Cadet? Just leave it at the repair shop after hours with no name on it. JUNK ! 🤣
You’re right. Absolutely nothing but MTD garbage.
My cub cadet has a hydraulic deck lift that slowly drops down
Any suggestions on where to look for the problem
The hydraulic cylinder may be bad.
Just found you guys. Really impressed. Forgive me, but grab a Luma Cube Panel Mini. You'll know what to do.
Tell the guy go to ebay, cheaper anyway.... Oh wait you need money to buy from eBay.... LMAO
lol...lol..you really took care of Ronnie ....throw his butt over that fence...and slippers too...lol.....great stuff..cheers 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
Great information Taryl
You are very good mechanic master taryl!😁
Cub cadet should pay attention here had to do some reengineering on my M 48 tank it kept throwing PTO belts when I first bought it they had the spacers wrong on the deck for the PTO Pulley I think every mower engineer should have to work in the shop for five years before they’re allowed to design mower
That Manson shirt is awesome!

lol, Ronnieball
Hi Taryl , could you do a video on the Cub LT1045 deck belt keeps coming off please ? Thanks for all the videos & entertainment
What do u know about 1946 bolenz tractor
Excellent job that felt sure was flapping even though you had everything fixed put a new belt on it and you're in business
Put a thicker belt on that is one bottoming out.
I wish you were my neighbor....sadly, I’m in Ireland.....:(
I can’t believe that no one has criticized you yet for drilling a hole in that guy’s deck like its a Picasso Painting
Nothing to hard for Taryl! Thanks for sharing your PH (positively hilarious) experiences with us N.O.P.E.'s. Can you put electrical black tape on that belt where the missing belt is? Just asking for a friend. ( Ronnie says don't say it's him.)

Hey! We make all the background music. CD/iTunes coming at the end of the month! And There's Yur Dinner!!
Thanx for replying! By the way my initials are reversed of your "DT".Please hit Ronnie Jergenstein for me - how dare he try to scam you and everyone (especially Mr Bear) Later gator "And theres yur dinner! Only seen Jeryl once/
Ahhahah, playing tennis with Ronnie
Thanks Taryl!
I alway do first cut with a push mower/mulcher or weedwacker, cos the backnyard is a swamp until summer
Ronnie will just never learn won’t he! Lol!
The bolt that was almost wore though confirms they use cheap pot metal crap that rusts. I changed all the bolts on my Husqvarna to grade 8.
Great job,And upgrades,now there’s your dinner amigo
Does that Cub have hydralic power steering?
Nope. I don't think any lawn tractor or riding mower does.
Thanks Taryl, another great video!
great video, as usual. might use a grade 8 bolt for the spring...if avail.
I only use Tungsten with dilithium crystal coating
Awwww ! Ronnie's taking flying lessons again. Still, he'll have to work on that landing.
So Ronnie owns the blob???? 1:40
had a 2010-ish Scrub Cadet . . . couldn't wait to get rid of it. unreal. no i own a 1992 john deere lx172
