Great review! Absolutely love my '22 Nissan Frontier Pro-X. Rides smooth and quiet, leather feels supreme, and the Fender sound system rocks!! I recently drove Las Vegas to Boulder City and got 24.1 mpg. The V6 tied to a 9-speed transmission is the winning ticket!. I love the Bilstein shocks and easily eat up rocky terrain. I have a lot of fun being a "desert runner," and have discovered that name was once a trim on earlier nissan hard body trucks. The technology and bird's eye camera keep me safe and I am so excited for a long life together!! Loved the Frontier, BUT went with the Ridgeline because the Frontier missing too much, No A/C vent in the rear seat ,and no ventilated front seats (for southern buyers) front seats have limited power options, rear seats very tight, BUT BEST Engine and Trans. But Ridgeline has more rear seat room Purchased a 24 Ridgeline B/E in Feb getting 22 MPG around town.
Ridgeline doesn’t even have LED high beams in any trim and also there is a stop sale on them right now due to a cable in the tailgate that can become pinched and disable the camera. There has also been issues with the transmission.

I’m looking to buy this very truck in Blue tomorrow… got to sleep on it 💤 to be sure. Lifetime power train warranty at the dealership. Nice. Drives really good. It has a lot of options installed including heated seats/mirrors/wheel, factory coated bed, side steps, hard bed cover, etc. Its much more truck than any Tacoma (or any midsize) for the same price. It rides great too. Solid and comfortable. The design is modern yet mature.
As a current Toyota owner & Lexus Collector. I would take any truck from Nissan (Titan & Frontier) over Toyota. My family also owned a brand new 2007 Xterra & 2009 Pathfinder. Never gave use a problem just routine maintenance at our local Nissan dealer.
Toyota really screwed up with the 4cyl turbo. Glad i got the 3rd gen while it was still new. The new frontier looks good, and if i needed a new truck, i may consider because i'm not paying more for a tacoma to tow less, have about the same mpg, and less pickup than you can get a frontier for. And this is coming from someone who wouldn't drive a last gen frontier in a million years!
I like mine but the mpg isn’t good and every time you get out you hit the seat back adjuster switch with your leg which causes the seat to recline over time. My drivers side door handle is currently broke and the passenger seat rattles/squeaks.

I don't do a lot of extended highway driving, but I feel like the Frontier does even better in that comparison.
For years Nissan problem was similar price of Tacoma, but Toyota had better re sale value. Now the frontier is way less expensive and better reliability.
It does but not in pro4x trim (unless you are in canada). You can get the 6 ft bed in a S or SV kingcab or LWB SV crew cab. The only thing you lose out on is the rear electronic locker but I suppose if someone really wanted it you can grab an axle from a salvage yard from any 2021+ and wire a switch. I believe you can also by just the locking diff on its own if you wanted to install it.
If anything happens to my 4runner and I need a new vehicle, not sayin I’d switch to a Nissan, but I’ll definitely test drive one now before blindly picking a Tacoma.
I really like the body style of the truck. My only real gripe personally is the red trim. I want an all black one but the red lining on the interior and exterior I don’t like. Other than that I’m probably still getting one. 😂
Keep your build sheet. It should have two available engines and two available transmissions not just one. Maybe a 3,000cc engine to compliment the 3,800cc and a 6 speed manual to go along with the 9 speed automatic.
I see tons of old Frontiers on the road every day. Nissan introduced this current engine and transmission with the 2020 Frontier, no widespread reported issues so far.
I like Toyota. Work as a tech at Toyota and man I would not buy the new vehicles. So many issues as little as a trim piece to a new short block… I can’t decide on a frontier or GMC canyon at4
My only complaint is you can't get a 6ft box and the pro 4x package not every one is obsessed with departure angles and needs a truck that is competent off road a long box crew cab with a locker skid plates and tow hooks would be a hit.

Wanted a new Tacoma but the value of the Frontier is too good to pass up
Just picked up a 24 and love it! Wasn’t going to the 4 cyl turbo in new Tacoma. Previously owned a 2020 Tacoma TRD Off Road.
I just bought one I'm totally in love with this truck traded in my 2003 Toyota for this beauty
It does have lumbar. There's a lever on the side of the seat (top part) next to the center console. Weird spot...but it has it.
Oh dang it. sorry if I missed that one
it was aways there in the Nissans, that's just the way it's been since1989
The NA V6 is a winner!
Bought one earlier this year. Had a 2013 prior. NO REGRETS. Pretty. Handles well. Comfortable with good power. And MY WIFE LOVES IT!
That’s a double bonus!!
I just bought the 2024 pro 4x for the same price as a base model tacoma with 4x4. Its an ABSOLUTE no brainer for mid sized.
Stop buying over priced midsized and full sized trucks. The frontier will pull a lot of small/medium travel trailers no problem. Might cost you more in gas, but its worth it due to the much lower price point.
Also, they're WIDELY available - couldnt find a single tacoma anywhere near what i bought in terms of features. For 38.5k, i basically bought what would cost around 46/47k tacoma.
I just bought a 4x4 SV and it’s pretty great. Not as many accessories and stuff on it but that means I get to customize as I want. I don’t go crazy on trails just basic gravel and dirt roads for fishing camping etc. Also I paid 36k for it.
I had my 2nd nissan frontier, frontier i love it this 2024 pro4x. This truck if a thought one.❤
I just rented ones of these in Alaska for two weeks. I loved it.
I will be in the market for a new pick up in about 2 to 3 years and I’m leaning towards the Nissan. I have no need for a four wheel drive but the Pro-X looks really nice. Being mechanically dependable and comfortable seats is all I really care about so I don’t care much about the tech stuff.
LOL No taco for me, plus now with the tundra engine failures/recalls, I am completely removing toyota from the list for a while. Good luck to all when picking trucks in today's market. If I had to purchase again, I'd get this Frontier.
Thanks Jeff, Why couldn't Nissan produce a Pathfinder off the Frontier frame? That would be great
V6. This is what people like. None of this 4cil turbo thing...and the price seems at least 5k cheaper than a new taco. Maybe will see this one out there more.
Sounds like you needed a car...
Same. Looking now at the Ridgeline. So many standard features vs. the competition. The Frontier's interior is so 2004 and screen resolution is grainy.
Ridgeline doesn’t even have LED high beams in any trim and also there is a stop sale on them right now due to a cable in the tailgate that can become pinched and disable the camera. There has also been issues with the transmission.
My Nissan frontier 2019 has 100k miles on it and bought it new in 2019 best truck I ever had literally no problems just routine maintenance that’s it frontier has the best reliable truck on the market
Awesome Truck! A fantastic video about a vehicle that can actually get out of the dealer lot without blowing up the engine. Nothing screams unreliable like a turbo-whatever.
Stitching looks good. Gloss black on the steering wheel looks good as well but will show scratches over time. V6 over turbo 4 all day. I’m looking to buy this very truck in Blue tomorrow… got to sleep on it 💤 to be sure. Lifetime power train warranty at the dealership. Nice. Drives really good. Was expecting harsher ride but was pleasantly surprised. The ride quality difference between this and the Taco isn’t as great as I thought it would be.
You won't regret it. I have a 2023 Pro 4x. I love it and love driving it.
I bought a 24 Pro4x in blue 2 months ago. You'll never regret it. It's better than I imagined.
Bought it. It’s really nice and I got a good deal. Looking forward to camping in the woods!
@@jacobb1354 Congratulations!! Glad to hear this.
The Frontier is a nice mid-size truck. I'm not crazy about the 5-foot bed though. if they would make a 6 foot bed I would consider buying one
They do, just not in the Pro4x Trim - SV crew cab long bed.
@@nismo370z4 Or the King Cab if you don't need the rear seats.
SV trim has a longer bed. Same engine and transmission..problem solved.
Im with you! I picked up a certified 4x4 22 King Cab with the tech package because I needed the long bed over a back seat and didn’t want to spend small fortune on it.
I go to the grocery store and Target .. do I need the big bed
‘21 4runner owner. Happy with it. This looks like the new tacoma should be. Simple design, quality standards, functionality and reliability… all of that is missing in the new toyota generatiion . I supose i should be a Nissan fan now
Frontier is the next big thing. Let’s go!
Just bought a Pro 4X in white a week ago...love it
When my 06 tacoma kicks the bucket, I'm getting this. Granted it won't be for a while but still. Lol it has a good V6, has good features. I don't need the pro4x but everything else checks all the boxes. I heard it does not have a tilt steering column so we'll hafta see how that works for a tall person.
It has tilt steering, the issue was telescoping which they added for the 2025 models.
I go back and forth until the current taco, now I’m driving the 2024 Pro4X 24 mpg as a daily driver
Whatever your computer says, subtract 3 mpg for the actual. Mine always says about 21 but when I calculate it, it’s always 3 mpg less.
Mine varies between 19-24 depending on where I’m at. Which is fine by me.
@@taserface9073 if that’s what the computer is saying that means you’re getting 16-21.
@Policearegood-mt6kx Just do the math on fill up gal ÷MI= your mpg.
It will change as it breaks in.
@@brad4527 mines about a year and a half old and the mileage hasn’t changed any. Ive calculated it myself many, many time’s and it’s consistently 3 mpg worse than the computer says I’m getting.
The Tacoma is the thoughtless mid size purchase. The truck for someone who doesn’t really need a truck, but sees they’re popular. The “live, laugh, love” or “salt life” of trucks. Theres so many of them on the road, I can’t help but think the owner is a lemming. I had one and couldn’t wait to get rid of it. Recently bought a used ‘22 SV w/ 25k miles for a good price. It has a lot of options installed including heated seats/mirrors/wheel, factory coated bed, side steps, hard bed cover, etc. Its much more truck than any Tacoma (or any midsize) for the same price. It rides great too. Solid and comfortable. The design is modern yet mature.
Thanks for your comments and for watching!
Black headliner❤ not sure why this is so hard to find but it totally changes the feel of the vehicle
Seriously considering this for my next truck. An actual v6 and now a turbo v4? Yes please.
"V4..." 🤦🏻♂️😂 Dumbshit.
This is a good truck, but test drive a Ridgeline for due diligence. The difference in comfort, especially the seats, favors the Honda. Both are V6's.
I love the energy you bring 😂 it's much appreciated! Great review.
Thanks Jeff for excellent info)
Glad to do it!
Interesting to see Toyota Jeff reviewing Nissans heheh.
Bought a 24 Pro4x. Love it.
This a Great value Tacoma , 3rd gen all day over here
I like mine but the mpg isn’t good and every time you get out you hit the seat back adjuster switch with your leg which causes the seat to recline over time. My drivers side door handle is currently broke and the passenger seat rattles/squeaks.
I have the Nissan titan pro 4x and I absolutely love it not one thing I don’t like about the truck I was a ford guy then I went Toyota just thought interior was cheap on Toyota and ford turbo issue I really can’t complain about my Titan they are very under rated trucks I say go check them out
Just bought this same truck color and options
My frontier is running like a typewriter after many miles.
Naturally aspirated V6 for me. No way I'd get a turbo charged 4 banger.
Now that Toyota cane out with the 4cylinder turbo on the Taco plus is about $8000 less with a similar equipment, this is the truck to go.
I have a 24 Frontier pro 4x awesome truck, I dont understand why so many knock it
I am considering this as well crossing my fingers that the dealer won't ripped me too much ^_^, planning to go to Nissan Kinosha WI. This is like a price of a Rav4XLE right now, but I need a truck more for camping and adventures ^_^. Toyota really let me down with their turbos...
@00:25 its in a price range that is very reasonable.... yea for an extemely over priced market all round
Rumor is the interior is getting a refresh
This year Nissan frontier is better than the Tacoma IMO and actually I think the build quality on this truck is nice
They need to bring the manual 6 speed back. Then I would consider buying. Nice truck tho.
Love Nissan trucks. Simple and reliable. Still reasonably priced
Glad i got my 2023 Taco. I don't have to regret my decision.
If only it still had a manual transmission.
Hey around 10:15 or so you mention no Lumbar support...there is! Its on the right side, lower of the drivers seat. Its a lever you move forward for the support. I have the same truck!
Went from a 2019 Tacoma to a 2024 Frontier. Better in every way. (Except resale)
It's about even on paper but which on gave you better mpg?
@@matrix-fh9tn I owned a 2018 Tacoma and now have a 2023 Frontier, both are 2WD. The Frontier has much better power and shifting, and yet I get slightly better mileage in everyday driving ... maybe 1 MPG or less, but I was still surprised. I don't do a lot of extended highway driving, but I feel like the Frontier does even better in that comparison.
For years Nissan problem was similar price of Tacoma, but Toyota had better re sale value. Now the frontier is way less expensive and better reliability.
I was going to but the new taco but men I’m all in for this nissan
Solid truck, price and drivetrain. Wish it came with a 6' bed!
Lumbar adjustment is on the right side of the drivers seat. It is manual.
Keep your build sheet. It should have two available engines and two available transmissions not just one. Maybe a 3,000cc engine to compliment the 3,800cc and a 6 speed manual to go along with the 9 speed automatic.
dont want a turbo on a small engine. so ill got v6 yes please.
The only thing I have to question is that transmission. If they get a minimal 150 k miles out of it then this truck is a great option.
I see tons of old Frontiers on the road every day. Nissan introduced this current engine and transmission with the 2020 Frontier, no widespread reported issues so far.
Keep it simple. The answer to your question for 2024 is YES
🎶Numanum numanum numanum num num now, Jeffrey give it up ,give it up, Jeffrey give it up!!🎶
I like Toyota. Work as a tech at Toyota and man I would not buy the new vehicles. So many issues as little as a trim piece to a new short block… I can’t decide on a frontier or GMC canyon at4
this is a nice truck im a die hard toyota guy and have a 2020 tacoma but this one or a new tacoma id choose this much cheaper and still has a v6
I was gonna buy Tacoma until I see their price plus no V6 and made in Mexico changed my mind. Its either gonna be this or Ridgeline.
It has something not many companys are doing anymore , a naturally aspirated motor
My only complaint is you can't get a 6ft box and the pro 4x package not every one is obsessed with departure angles and needs a truck that is competent off road a long box crew cab with a locker skid plates and tow hooks would be a hit.
You can for the 2025 models.
V6 with Naturally aspirated engineer is definitely the right choice with Nissan vs. Toyota.
2014 Nissan frontier is the best 💪🏼
Correction... it is wireless Apple Carplay, but wired Android Auto (easily fixed with a Motorola MA1 though)
Thanks!
In the market . Coming from a 2020 F 150 . Spending 50 K chose the Canyon Denali for a few extra . Waiting on it
Let me know how you like it
Is the Próx the most updated one. Looking for best trim ? Thanks
