    Your content is perfect for APSC users because i always struggle with Low light settings… when you shot on the 56mm sigma, is that the only one u will have on you? Or do u swap lens during shoots?

    wow sick photos, I'm planning on buying the 17-70mm but I've heard at 70mm it's losing some of the sharpness. Do you have that problem?

    • @JimmyShixin
      @JimmyShixin  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yea I heard about that but honestly dont care about sharpness a whole lot - I tried to check but honestly haven’t found it noticeable but be warned, I really don’t care that much about sharpness, I literally edit out the sharpness often anyways so it’s not an issue for me. I would find a comparison video on YT where they show you the same shot at diff focal lengths if you do care about sharpness

    • @antoniojackson5710
      @antoniojackson5710 6 месяцев назад

      The sharpness drops at 70mm F2.8 but it's back up to excellent by F4.

    This video is the result of a lot of well thought work. Love the video and how you break/edit in the result of the shot. Have to subscribe so I can pick off some great hints as I learn my camera and photography. I have a 6000 and have seldom used it in six+ years. Looking to purchase my last lens for one to fo most everything and am torn between the Sigma 18-50 and Tamron 17-70

    Hi Jimmy ! Thanks for your feedback about this lens ! I have some questions about this. I wanna know if this lens is good for portraits pictures ?

    • @hyrano_
      @hyrano_ Год назад

      Afterthat, i heard that there is some flare effects when photos are taken with a sunset, and the rendering is too soft. Did you notice that ?

    • @hyrano_
      @hyrano_ Год назад

      And last question, i know that sharpness is less good than the sigma 18-50mm, but is it possible to improvre it in post-production ?

    • @JimmyShixin
      @JimmyShixin  Год назад +1

      I have used it for portraits - at more zoomed in focal lengths you do get nice amounts of background blur but it will always be less sharp and have less bokeh compared to prime lenses

    • @JimmyShixin
      @JimmyShixin  Год назад +1

      not personally - flare can be avoided with a lens hood but ive not had any issues w that

    • @hyrano_
      @hyrano_ Год назад

      @@JimmyShixin okay thanks for your answers ! I ask this because i'm a beginner photographer, and i would like to take portraits pictures and make street photography. I'll also need a high focale length range, to avoid changing lenses all the time. So, do you recommend this lens for me ?

  • @joshr961
    @joshr961 Месяц назад

    are you using Auto ISO? mine wants to crank it to 10k almost in photos not even this dark. with a 1/60 shutter speed.

    • @JimmyShixin
      @JimmyShixin  Месяц назад +1

      Nah full manual usually - if you like using auto ISO you can just put in the limiters to prevent it going above a certain level

    • @joshr961
      @joshr961 Месяц назад

      @ ya know I thought the same but though maybe iso not being high enough would cause a problem of some sort. I limit it to 6400 most the time and after denoise they come out perfect. Guess just need some more practice thanks.

    How does this compare with the sigma 18-50 f2.8? I'm stuck between the two..

    • @JimmyShixin
      @JimmyShixin  2 года назад +1

      Hmm I've not compared to two directly - sigma might be shaprer but thats at the cost of lower focal range - for me the 70MM comes in quite handy often but the tamron is quite a bit more expensive so I'd say: if you think the extra 20mm is worth it go for thw tamron :)

      I am in the same boat. Wishing to purchase my last lens, like the features of both when considering size, weight, stability, weatherproofing, quality, and last value for the dollar spent. I noticed much of these were night shots and stability would be a big factor as I must depend on lens, steady hand, speed of exposure and quality of materials/build.

  • @sleepless51
    @sleepless51 2 года назад +1

    Really enjoyed the POV. Very nice shots. How did you find the noise levels at these settings? I'm planning to get this lens although the softness at higher focal length makes me hesitate. But I think that's probably one of the best options for travelling and one that 'does it all' including low light.

    • @JimmyShixin
      @JimmyShixin  2 года назад +2

      Thank you!
      Noise levels were fine - I usually keep it around 1600 and not higher with the a6500, with newer cameras you can go higher in ISO without getting grain
      Regarding the Tamron, yes the softness at higher focal lengths isn't ideal, reason why I still went for it over the sigma 18-50 F2.8 (closest competitor I'd say) is that I would rather have a soft 60-70mm than not having that extra range at all
      I would still highly recommend it as your travelling / all rounder lens :)

    Good Morning! I purchased one but found it strange that her zoom ring is a little stiff. Did this happen to your copy too? From 24mm onwards, it has a greater resistance when turning that even to use it on the gimbal is more difficult because turning the zoom ring forces the motor

    is it really the focal length is more on APS-C cameras like a6500 ? more than 17-70mm ?

    • @JimmyShixin
      @JimmyShixin  2 года назад +2

      yes, there is a crop factor you apply for aps c cameras (x1.5) you can check out this article which explains it nicely:
      prophotosupply.com/blogs/resources/full-frame-vs-aps-c-and-mft-crop-factor-explained#:~:text=A%20standard%20APS%2DC%20sensor,has%20a%202x%20crop%20factor).

    Hi brother, I ordered a6400, now I'm looking for a lens. Is it really hard to make clean shots with body and lens without stabilization? For example a6400 + sigma 56mm?

    • @JimmyShixin
      @JimmyShixin  2 года назад +1

      for video you may struggle without a gimbal, if it's just photos you should be fine as long as your shutter speed isn't too slow (like 1/3S without a tripod for example)
