    Would it be possible to just get away with using a 27mm focal length or do you find yourself needing the extra reach and the wider angles often for street photography?

    • @JimmyShixin

      What lens is this? 27mm sounds rare as a lower limit - also is this APSC? Remember the crop factor For me even 17 (24mm on full frame) isn’t that wide to be honest and I often switch in my Samsung 12mm

      Welcome to the game! Here’s what I did when I studied photography over lockdown: -learn to shoot manual (there’s plenty of short vids giving you an overview, I have one on my channel too about shooting manual) -shoot RAW not JPEG, always (RAW is much much better for editing) -Watch POV videos to learn about composition and thought processes -learn to grade images: pick a creator you like and buy a preset pack, don’t spend too much but you them to understand how your favourite looks are edited -most importantly: have fun with it, find others who enjoy the process and just have a good time :)

    Love this video 🤩 not sure if anyone has commented with this detail but the reason you’re able to do handheld long exposures on iPhone is due to the way it takes them. It takes a series of photos one after another like a video and then stitches them together. The iPhone then keeps the consistent parts from each photo (buildings, roads etc) and then duplicates the bits that change (light trails, flowing water etc). This is why you don’t get as smooth lines with lights or water as you would with a mirrorless or DSLR camera which opens the shutter for the full exposure. It’s a very clever way of doing long exposure without needing a tripod or steady hands!

    • @JimmyShixin
      @JimmyShixin 8 дней назад

      Thank you! Yea I heard about this but apparently (haven’t tried yet) if you take a photo using the Lightroom app you can take it in the same way of just having one single long exposure without stitching as you get full manual control

    Nice shots, I think they work really well, also for portraits. You can see with the guy at 1.:30 that you just need to get closer to your subject and get the background further away. By the way, this lens isn't really the counterpart to a 70-200, it's the counterpart to a 100-400 (or 105-450 to be exact) which also never has a constant f2.8. Compared to the FF 70-200, you gain 250mm at the long end, which is a lot.

    • @JimmyShixin
      @JimmyShixin 8 дней назад

      Thank you! And yes true, its far inferior to 70-200 for night time stuff so not the best comparison Wish there was a rly good not too expensive telephoto lens for APSC w fixed aperture😅

    • @drchtct
      @drchtct 8 дней назад

      @@JimmyShixin Fuji has a 50-140 2.8. But many people also use a 75mm or 90mm prime (or 105-135mm in FF) as a lighter, even higher aperture tele option.

    Also in the Sigma vs Tamron rabbit hole currently. I've heard a couple of people, including review channels, mention that the Tamron, in particular, creates a vacuum when zooming and takes in a fair amount of dust. I'm sure all zooms would do that, but I've watched a fair amount of your videos in different climates, many of which are sandy and dusty. So I guess to the question, have you found that your lens has taken in a fair amount of dust? Appreciate all the effort

Now this is my first time shooting Sony, I was looking at the Canon R6 or maybe the A7iii and an opportunity to own the A7iii for a unbeatable deal was simply not too good to turn down but impossible, there are a few niggles which is to be expected and I’m sure, given time I’ll learn what I need to do to fix them. great video, what do u say about the 6500 with a 17-70 tamron? is it still good or should i get the 6400. just for photography

      6400 is basically better in everything vs the 6500, the only thing the 6400 does NOT have is stabilization. BUT - (double check this cause I’m not 100% sure) the tamron should be stabilized so for this specific combo it shouldn’t matter and 6400 is the better choice for you

    do you think that the size/weight is over exaggerated on an APSC sony? camera?

      What do you mean over exaggerated? In my experience APSC and most their lenses are much lighter which is why I like using it for travel photography

    16mm 1.4 or 30mm 1.4 on APSC for Landscape and Close ups? /: What would you chose?

      Maybe 16 for close ups? I don’t think the 30 would work very well, though neither is a macro lens… you could get the 16 and pair it with those macro rings to allow you to take close up photos using the lens. But for landscapes and travel a zoom lens may be better in my opinion

      @@JimmyShixin Yeah.. I wanna buy a Prime lens and then a zoom lens (Tamron 17-70mm), I think xD and i like close ups from flowers or so o: not macro like, a little Ant portrait :D just close ups from leaves, flowers.. and the "close up" from the sigma 16 or 30 is not too bad o: 25cm close distance But I think youre right.. 16 mm and when its too wide for some shots, I can crop a bit /:
