Great tip: if u press F3 and look at the section in the left top part of the screen if the c-counter says around 50 or more while looking straight down there is most likely a huge cave under you

I think 1.20.2 actually made diamonds spawn more often than in previous versions, i dont know the reason but i think the most likely reason is to make it easier to get duplicates of armor trims. That's just my thought tho.
Yeah thats the reason that mojang gave to us, but it is actually the worst change to minecraft this year as going into a cave grants you diamond so you don't even search for them anymore.
Mining is boring with this change

I agree, I found 10 diamonds in under 15 minutes, and I usually would find 1 in that time. It would make a lot of sense for them to do that.
I found 6 9 diamond veins in under an 1 hour and 30 minutes yesterday
if you make a tunnel bore though, you will have to make sure you dont have any Grians or Scars on your server. lol
That's why I made my tunnel bore at level -53. I am free from removing lava all the time.
same - i also vote strip mining as the best option overall for the low skill floor it requires. yes it's slow but you can do it pretty much anywhere in-game the moment you start getting iron picks, you only need torches to not have to deal with hostile mobs, you don't need extensive redstone knowledge or hours mining the necessary ancient debris, you can do it in pure vanilla minecraft and you don't need to defeat the end dragon or spend hours searching for your first elytra.
@@Shiruvi Cave exploring is so much more fun though. I guess higher skill floor but once you get the hang of it, it's super fast

I agree I mean all you need a is a shield really. Caving also saves a large amount of durability as all you mine is up is useful ores and not stone.

Best method to find diamonds, Mine in caves! And if you have access to water breathing potions, take at least 1 or 2 with you depending on if you have shulker boxes yet or not, and op armor. As soon as you find an underwater cave in diamond level, it may be your lucky day! Like he says in the video, you can find a lot more diamonds if the cave your exploring is submerged. Plus I would also like to add, once again if you have that gear then MINE AS MANY ORES AS POSSIBLE while your down there, because there could be diamonds literally behind the other ores and you just didn't know! Btw, amazing vid shulkercraft, I'm pretty certain a lot of people will find this entertaining and useful for thier diamond hunts, I really like how each method is ranked and listed. That really helps you be aware of all the ways you can get diamonds. And whoever else read this commentall the way through. Thank you so much! :)

Here's a tip for everyone who are still on 1.20.1 because you're waiting for OptiFine to update to 1.20.2: once it's out, make a backup of your world, then load it in MCA Selector and delete a bunch of chunks you haven't done anything in, or even chunks you've only been in for a certain amount of time (like 1 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes etc.). This way, you won't have to travel a long way to get the new diamond rates.
It doesn't seem like you can delete subchunks though, so you can't just delete everything below y=0, but you can change the view so you can see what's below a specified y level. This is helpful for finding places where you've mined, so if there are a couple of chunks that you have spent a lot of time in but you don't see anything of note on the surface, those might be chunks you've spent a lot of time underground in. But usually when you go mining or strip mining, you make your way through chunks pretty rapidly, so if there are chunks around your spawn or base that you haven't spent a lot of time in, but you don't want to get rid of them because you might want to use the tunnels you've made while mining, be sure to double check the y level both in MCA Selector and in the game.
There's a short and good video by Eyecraftmc that explains how to use the program if you search for "How to Easily Reset / Trim Chunks for New Terrain in Minecraft 1.20", but I also recommend watching Endavar's video, as he goes into detail about optimizing the deletion using filters.
Brushing is infinitely better in this patch compared to the last one :)
man u should try mining in caves that are underwater, with doors for example also worked realy well with me
In one (1) hour I got 27 diamonds with out any redstone or strip mining, that is not bad in my opinion!!

Sounds to me like the best method is to strip until you hit a cave, then spelunk.
The difference I've found is that while diamonds are more widely found, the veins are usually only 1 or 2 now. Well played MC.

Truly gives us God tutorial and god tips and tricks these guys can go to any limits for farms.
You can also, instead of looting end cities, loot ancient cities because you can mine up the sculk with a mending hoe which is easy to find in the chests there and uncover many diamonds while mending your stuff. I got like 250 diamonds from two ancient cities, but I could have gotten more if I spent more time mining.
What about sculk mining(not exposed blocks have a higher chance of being diamond ore so removing the sculk layer is the best caving method

its worth noting that brushing diamonds out of suspicious sand is a very good method early game... also you know diamonds can also be in desert temple chests so it can be even better
The best diamond mining method I do is skulk mining. Mending netherite hoes and fortune picks can spawn in Deep Dark, and diamonds spawn more without air exposure. Skulk spawns after world gen by replacing air exposed blocks, so skulk mining’s instant break with netherite hoes got me something like 120+ ores an hour (in 1.20.1)

Cave exploring has the highest potential, but with it being so rng dependent you're better off strip mining.
It may be that the stript mining will be not so effischent due to chunk borders

Let's be honest, though. If you have Ancient Debris then you already had plenty of diamonds. If you have enough spare Ancient Debris to burn on that huge tunnel bore, then you're already working on Netherite tools and weapons anyway. Same could be said for the Elytra, which is why they don't mind giving you diamond tools and armor in End Cities. They figured you already had access to it.
Also, personally, I find it cheap and cheaty to use a texture pack that highlights ores in the dark. Minecraft is meant to be a challenge when mining underground. I won't even turn up the brightness from the default despite that being an option for years now.

It would be interesting to see what the rate is by mining with an x-ray texture pack. Obviously most people consider this cheating, but since it's something you can just do in survival on most servers so I wonder how it compares to others.

Ok tunnel bore works well but you have a giant one and each one uses 3 debris so that isnt effective at all

Since optifine is not out for 1.20.2, how did you use the visible ores texturepack since it requires optifine?
Its probably vanilla tweaks which doesnt require optifine
You can also use alternative fabric mods instead of optifine
On Fabric, Iris Shaders for 1.20.2 Unfornately Optifine doesn't have any update since 3 month :(
