FINALY!!! A REAL review! And not a "pre-chewed" commercial from the factory or photoshop. Im really gratefull for that, because more and more on youtube you see video's, called 'review' that are just commercials. And your video was exactly how i was planning to use this lens. Thank you sir, keep up the good work.
Great vid! Just got it today and got some great shots. Did a rookie mistake and had the ISO on 125 (auto would've been great) but the shots still turned out great on A-priority. Was debating between the Panasonic 70-300 or this one and decided on this and I'm so stoked! Heading out tomorrow for a whole day shoot :)
Excellent video, and really helpful for me as I am trying to decide between the Sigma 100-400 and the Lumix 70-300 for my S5II. Did you get a chance to test the Lumix 70-300? It has dual IS (combination sensor and lens stabilization).
Technically Panasonic does not have an animal eye setting. That being said I did have Animal/Human on. I was also using the tracking setting. I will try the Full Area as well in the future.
@@Scot_Photo I meant human/animal. This body arrives this week. Other RUclipsrs have found tweaking settings has made a difference but none have had to do with wildlife photos.
@@chriss2295 In this video I tested Tracking next I intend to try Full Area. Tracking was my S5 got to Full Area may prove to be the better choice for the S5II. Either way it is looking good.
Not sure what you mean there was no external mic. Background is internal Mics and the voice over is recorded directly in my video editor DaVinci Resolve after the fact. I put up a text message to this effect at the beginning of the video you might have missed. When I plug in a Mic the internal Mics are silent.
Simple answer no, you can choose either body or lens. If the lens has the right components to make it compatible with Dual IS we could hope for a firmware update.
The autofocus and the IS performances are both really bad on this lens when coupled with S5II. Hopefully we will see a proper superzoom from Lumix soon enough. Lumix S series similar to Sigma 150-600 would be ideal.
I don't know if I would say really bad. Keep in mind the user is part of the equation so you might be more stable than myself. Also I don't think it is a typical video lens and as a stills lens I found it to be fine. Though it would be great to get a Lumix equivalent I can't argue with that.
Thanks a ton for posting this! I’m torn between the sigma 100-400 or the LUMIX 70-300, but this video definitely has me leaning towards the sigma.

Your warts and all approach is refreshing and appreciated. I subscribed.
Good video!! so helpful!

I think sigma is a best option since it cost less and give you more focal length. I recommend you to watch the dpreview review of the lumix 70-300mm.
Correction - I meant human animal. Did you have animal eye auto focus enabled?

Looks like you have bad preamps in S5II too. Did hear your internal mic when external is connected(rub it wearing headphones)?

is the sigma lens O.S system work well together with the S5ii IBIS?
