  • Time to fix some leaks from this C4 transmission in the 1968 Mercury Cougar. I've never been a big Ford fan and mostly because I don't like their engineering and design. The process to remove the shifter shaft on this C4 is a prime example on how to over engineer a simple part. Follow along as we change out both the selector shaft and the kickdown shaft seals.

Good explanatory video 👍 Please do more frequent videos. Maybe some updates on previous projects or perhaps a Livestream on a basic actual repair in progress.

Dave, you gave me Sunday morning anxiety ! There always seems to be at least a line of oily red foot prints from the scene of the crime when messing with a trans pan! You made it look relatively simple! Hope all is well, and of course a hug to Ashton!

Dave, It is frustrating when an engineer designs something without thinking about the person that has to fix it later on.

Jim about the only thing Ford did design right is putting the distributor at the front of the engine....lol.

Here's a quick question. Do you prefer a two post lift vs 4 post? I'm contemplating between the two..

It really depends on a couple factors. One being the space you have in the shop and the second being what you'll use the lift for. I prefer a two post for all around use and space restrictions. Although with a 2 post you need minimun of 12 foot ceiling height.
