Repairing Hack Bodywork on Project Marsha
Просмотров 105Месяц назад
This episode we delve into to shoddy repairs previously done when Marsha had a replacement quarter panel installed many many years ago. It bottles the mind why someone wouldn't spend the extra hour of time to get things repositioned back where they should have been and make the correct repairs.
68 Cougar Trans Repairs

Time to fix some leaks from this C4 transmission in the 1968 Mercury Cougar. I've never been a big Ford fan and mostly because I don't like their engineering and design. The process to remove the shifter shaft on this C4 is a prime example on how to over engineer a simple part. Follow along as we change out both the selector shaft and the kickdown shaft seals.

Firebird Power Door Locks
Просмотров 73Месяц назад
After discovering this car came equipped with power door locks the question then was, where was the power door lock switch? The early 2nd gen Camaro and Firebirds used a 3 wire main switch on the center of the dash. Unfortunately the only replacement door lock actuators are for the later year cars which use a 5 wire switch. Follow along as run through how to make your original switch work with ...

There's a lot of classic and muscle cars out there for sale. Truthfully it's hard to make a profit and finish a car correctly. We'll go over the basics to make sure you get caught buying a turd.
Firebird Dash

New project car in the shop 1973 Pontiac Firebird T/A with a 455 4 speed. Outwardly a very nice car that feels nice and tight, no rattle or noises when driving, but as we get into fixing some items the owner wasn't happy with we find more and more attention to detail no taken and corners cut in order to increase profit on the sale. Stay tuned this is just the begining of a laundry list of thing...

1970 Plymouth Fury Trunk Pan Repairs
Просмотров 682 месяца назад
Project Marsha returns to get the junk in trunk taken care of in this episode. Tackling rust repairs on a C-body Mopar is not an easy task. There's not much support yet from the aftermarket and what is out there is mediocre at best. We use a combination of parts to make our repairs. Trunk drop offs are available but are poorly made. Between those panels and sections from a B-body trunk pan, whi...

More paint is applied to the 1969 Mercedes 280SL. The doors receive the final sanding on the primer then get the red color coat and 3 coats of clear. After setting up for a couple months we go back and color sand the clear and show the process to bring back that deep gloss shine.

Holley Moparty 2023 Overview........Where was Steve Magnante?
Gassers have always been one of my favorite drag race classes. Thanks for sharing Dave. 😃
It's a great series they run over here once a month at different tracks.
Yes! The pre-assmbeld panels are absolute garbage! I hope more people see this so they wont be disappointed like my friends were with the 1st gen Camaro pieces they bought. I ended up removing the vinyl from the junk, and reusing the metal pieces from the original panels. It took days to do all four panels. Also, the felt pieces are just as bad. It seems all of the resto stuff is that way, it either needs reworked, or just thrown away. Garbage. I feel your pain, and i also absolutely refuse to do resto work on bid, no way.
Share share share....that'll get the video seen more. Thanks for wathcing.
I bought a 73 Trans Am back in 85. Regret letting it get away. I am working on a 67 SS Chevelle I bought in 70. Thanks for the video and for the information on Steele Rubber!
Glad to help with the info. I'll have a build on 67 Chevelle coming up sometime in the next year.
@@allclassicsrestoration1430 In your opinion, who makes the best interior components. Seat covers, door panels, carpet, etc.
Thanks for sharing. Love old cars
Glad you enjoyed
Cool color scheme! I have a 1980 F-150 ranger xlt standard. I taught my kids stick on it, and my lady loves the bench seat so she can sit close. Better than a console separator. 👍
Right on
Geez, my boy Ashton is going to in the front seat before we know it! Loved the Corvair and the Barracuda. Ol’ Ashton has the eye for hot rods! Thanks Dave, wishing you the best, hope all is well.
Bob I was noticing how much he's grown when he's looking at the cars, I only have to lift him up to see in the old trucks now.
Thanks for sharing Dave and Ashton. That Nova and the Corvair were my favorites.
Can you please tell me what "modifications" were done to the passenger side headers to make them fit! I have the same headers... and We cannot fit them in there!😢
I'll have to rewatch the video and try to jog my memory.
I belong to Marsha's green fraternal twin brother. 7:00 I assure you that it is NOT boring.
Thanks for following along, I'd love to see pics of Marsha's twin.
@@allclassicsrestoration1430 I saw your Hotmail address; I'll write soon. Paul
Dave do you have any of your tshirts for sale
Which shirts are you referring too? Mopar Connection shirts are available onliine at the www.moparconnectionmagazine.com/shop. My shirts i'm out of but if you let me your size when i get some more made I can get one for you.
@@allclassicsrestoration1430 dude its Ron I guess it's your shop shirt
This is great! Thanks for all the hard work, Dave (and for the awesome shout out)!
Marsha is coming along nicely....really want to be at Moparty with it.
💪💪💪
Gotta make it right
Dave, It is frustrating when an engineer designs something without thinking about the person that has to fix it later on.
Jim about the only thing Ford did design right is putting the distributor at the front of the engine....lol.
Good explanatory video 👍 Please do more frequent videos. Maybe some updates on previous projects or perhaps a Livestream on a basic actual repair in progress.
Thanks for the input. I occasionally do a video on whats going on around the shop. Being as i'm doing all the this myself getting one video out a week is about all i can handle. Apprieciate you watching!
Here's a quick question. Do you prefer a two post lift vs 4 post? I'm contemplating between the two..
It really depends on a couple factors. One being the space you have in the shop and the second being what you'll use the lift for. I prefer a two post for all around use and space restrictions. Although with a 2 post you need minimun of 12 foot ceiling height.
Dave, you gave me Sunday morning anxiety ! There always seems to be at least a line of oily red foot prints from the scene of the crime when messing with a trans pan! You made it look relatively simple! Hope all is well, and of course a hug to Ashton!
Bob I've had my fair share of spills over the years....lol. All is well here hope things are good with you and Michelle.
Who is that young man? Is that Ashton? He sure is growing like a weed.😃
It's been a couple years since I've been to Carlisle, the Mopar Nationals. It's always during the hottest time of the year. I miss it though..
This is great show and not a bad ride for you.
Dave great to see you guy’s. Geez, Ashton is really growing up! By the way, uh, is he in barber college? 😂
Yup and flunked out.....lol.
in stock at walmart. you realize that, right?
Autozone 4 miles from my shop....Wally world 15.
Somebody shoved it on the connector wrong. Straighten the pins with pliers and plug it in like a man! If it had a beam defect or a burnt filament or crack glass??? I can see your point, but this is pointless. You can’t order two of them in the brand and options you want online? You Must post this 💩 and complain 😢😮 👀 ???
Some of us like to actually go to a parts store and be able to get what we want without having to order online, what if it was something needed in an emergency are you gonna sit on the side of the road and wait on the big brother supplier to come rescue you?
American made in China
Like everything else anymore
Start a parts company!!?
You fund it i'll run it.
Shut up and bend em straight ....
Pliers fix all u cant drop your parts son.
I didn't drop it and yes I fixed it with pliers....point being it shouldn't have been on the shelf that way.
bro youre the one giving. grab some fuckin pliers, its fucking brass..youre a clown of a tech. this is a shipping issue, not a fucking supplier issue. make a fucking post when you find it missing the filament or terminals
I get tired of old dudes complaining that parts for old hot rods are not plentiful and cheap any more. Face it its now a niche luxury hobby. Nothing will give because the entire parts supply chain is controlled by essentially two or three companies and its all made in China or Mexico. F
lmao youre a moron. those are sealed beam headlights, they are still common, available and cheap.
Because we can remember when shit was made here.
Ehh grab some needle nose it’ll be fine
Talk about completely missing the point...
Ehh, ok😂😂😂😂
I could have those leads straight and light wired up by the time you grabbed your phone just to complain
No, someone not knowing how a spade connector works tried to plug it into the spring side of the spade and it bound up in the slide. The pins bent with forcing it in. If it doesn’t fit don’t force it, you’ll only get it back! Or make your mama mad! Take some pliers and straighten the damn pins! Then line up the spade to the socket insert and push gently. Electrical silicone will keep moisture out. Nothing wrong with the part. Now if it had some cracked glass or a burnt filament, an odd beam pattern… then complain about build quality. This is completely irrelevant and waahhh!
I shouldn't have had to.
Sounds great bandit
Very informative Dave, Thanks for sharing 😃
Jim always apprieciate you watching.
Great Video
Thanks brother!
Good job! You might try some AIM lubricant with a small needle (hypo) on the old door lock actuators in case you can't find replacements! Great for quieting down noisy motors. This has save my rear a few times.. Dave
Thanks for the tip!
Where is the location
NC coast
(Six Pack Super Bee)
It worked for 50yrs so couldn't have been too bad how long should it have lasted then
Was a pretty repair done very sloppy. The car spent a lot of years in a barn which saved the repairs from getting worse. Point of the video was to be able to spot previous repairs before you spend your hard earned money.
Worked on a 70 Torino once that had 1/2" shorter wheelbase on one side.
Wow....that's enough to make things track funny but not visable to the eye.
Typical old body shop repairs.
I've seen it many many times.
Thanks for the great tips Dave 😃
My pleasure!
That 80s el Camino did not come with a big block engine
nope it sure didn't
Not all the squirrels are up in the trees.
So true my friend....lol.
Yes I'm interested
I don't know the owner....but i will say they are located in a NC coastal town.
Salty
Very
How bout that 57 Chevy ????
Very rough car but it is a true 150 model.
Yes i love the convertible lemans
That was my favorite too it has a great stance to it.
Thanks for sharing Dave 😃
My pleasure!!
Yes I would be very interested in them
I have no idea who the owner is.
What do you think it would cost to get one of those going realistically 150 thousand 80,000 nice cars
Some would take more than other for sure. But they're all salvagable.
How much for the 57 and does it have a title?
No idea....just some cars sitting on a lot across the street from where i was picking one up at the NC coast. It is a true 57 150 model but its really rusty.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO MADE IT THROUGH SCHOOL ONLY BECAUSE OF THE NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND APPROACH. WHEN I'M SAYING IN THE FOLLOWING IS WHAT PEOPLE OFTEN SAY. THESE CARS SHOULD BE RESCUED. SOME MESSAGES DO SOMETHING. BUT I CAN MEET AT FACTS OF LIFE PEOPLE WILL SAY SOMEBODY SHOULD BUT THEY'RE NOT GOING TO. THEN THE OTHER THING IS WHEN IT'S ANNOUNCED AT THE END THAT THEY'RE AVAILABLE I DON'T SEE PEOPLE JUMPING ON THEIR SAYING HEY HOW CAN I GET ONE OF THESE. NO CROWD RUSSIAN TO FIND OUT HOW TO GET ONE. THOSE WILL ALWAYS BEEN ONE OR TWO WHO WILL ASK. WHAT'S ON MY SARCASM IS THAT I WAS STARTING TO SOUND LIKE THOSE WHO ARE ASKING WHY ISN'T SOMEBODY DOING SOMETHING WITH THESE CARS? AT THE END NO ONE'S ASKING HOW TO GET ONE OF THESE. I HOPE THIS HELPS FOR THAT SHE DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT I WAS SAYING. ⏬⏬⏬⏬⏬LOOK⏬⏬⏬ Okay the following is somewhat sarcastic of me. Don't be saved! It shouldn't be left out to rest. They should be taken care of as we put inside they should be they should be. But as soon as you say they may be coming up for sale and explain the situation something changes. All those that would have been saying they should be this or that. Don't say anything.. that's okay because they weren't going to do anything about it anyway give him the chance. Point made. Thanks for bringing these to our attention so we can see them.
Nobody understands the words that are coming out of your mouth
@@wb3161 I dumped it down a little bit and explain my sarcasm and my humor. I hope it's more understandable. Basically when I was getting out with people saying why doesn't somebody doing something somebody should rescue these et cetera et cetera. Were those whiners always say this but they almost never step up. Now at the end when he explains the situation. There is nobody stepping up. Yeah I have a little fun with it but thank you for bringing this to my attention.
If they were project cars the owners probably want them back but I would be interested in the truck
They all belong to one person from what i was later told and he's not selling.
Gto white price
Not my cars and from what I was told the owner isn't selling, another guy letting them rot away.
