Omg, thank you for this, it.s sooo inspiring, and well explained ! More that 20 years after filming it.s still really absolutely useful ! Clay is just magical …
The sound and pic quality is a bit off and it was a bit long, but really great stuff in there! In fact, I've seen the skinner blend done in many different ways, but I think your way is the correct way to do it and I will try it that way next time! Thank you for your wealth of information!
I found a bead from polymer clay that I really love and want to learn how to make. However the lady just has a web site, not a video and these football shaped beads are gorgeous. In her instructions she calls it the Buesseler's cut to shape it. Here is the link to her site where I found this technique. I have come close once or twice. I'm not concerned with all the color blending in her instructions, but basically the cut. I was wondering if someone would be so kind to do a video tutorial on this. Also do they call this the Buesseler's cut, because he is the one who designed it? Thank you so much!
Yes, that cutting technique and shape was Mike's idea (I was in the class with Desiree when Mike demonstrated it to our guild--his classes were always amazing!). Desiree then did a number of things with the cut and also made it more famous. There are a few more tips on cutting that shape on the Beads page of my polymer clay site if you're interested: glassattic.com/polymer/beads.htm (>Football) And there are more tips on cutting polymer clay in general (e.g., cooling the clay, making "cradles" for cutting sometimes, etc) mostly on the Cutters & Blades page under the Blades section: glassattic.com/polymer/cutters-blades.htm And this tip in another section on the page: "At first I had some difficulty cutting round canes (with these kinds of stand slicers) ...they cut square ones very well .....but Judith came up with the solution of making a cradle out of waste clay to fit the cane, corn-starching the cradle well, then cutting down through both cane and cradle." When I watched his other video about metallic clays, I thought the same thing! His voice and demeanor is so calming. I wish he had more videos.

The video was pulled from an old VHS tape from the 90's . VHS was not the best quality to begin with :)
