You are a good teacher. You explain everything so even a beginner like me can understand.
Glad you think so!
Hi Mimi, jill here in the uk. Just love your videos as they are so easy to understand...thanks so much.
Good video. I knew what it does. But I like how it changes.
Thank you for doing this demo in real time. It is unnerving to watch vids where everything seems to happen in a flash. I find it helpful to see how even "simple" things such as putting extruded clay together is instructive.
I know what you mean. That is the main reason I started doing video tutorials. Most of the ones I saw on RUclips were fast-forwarded. Sometimes I would want to see the brand name on a bottle or something but it is gone before I can read it. I'm glad you like the real-time.
@@Mimismarketva I must disagree! I seldom watch your tutorials because they are entirely TOO LONG! I don't have 45 minutes to watch a tutorial! They include things I don't need to know!
EXAMPLE: Why do I need to see how many sets you have & what each of them do? VERY BORING & ANNOYING! If I can see someone else doing same type tutorial I'll watch them instead!
Hi Gayle. I never did get an extruder. I'm not sure what. I think I really need to start making some canes. I think pink orange and white would look pretty. I'm so glad you decided to make videos. You have a lot of knowledge and we are lucky you share it. Love this. Ttyl. Sara
Also. When you've made the canes, where do you store them?
Thanks, Sara! I wouldn't be doing these videos without your encouragement. I love what you're doing with the quilting. You have such a variety of talents. I'm so glad I found your videos. I feel like we're friends even though we've never met!
I wrap them in the plastic sheets I showed in my videos and then store them several different ways. The small ones I keep in ammo cases I got at Harbor Freight. Some are kept in craft storage boxes. I'm working on reorganizing them now so maybe I'll do a craft room tour to show some of my storage ideas.
+Gayle Thompson (Luv2Clay) ok. I think I saw that. Thanks Gayle.
Polymer clay and Sutton slice
This was my first cane before I knew what a cane was. Love this pattern.
Love this, I count too when I walk, and I certainly understand your quiet. I am watching and learning from you girls on you tube with your beautiful clay. I have learned so much from you. Thank you!
Thanks! I'm glad you like my videos!
I love this cane. I have to make it!!!!
Not sure if u still read ur comments but when u said you count things for no reason I laughed & was happy to know I'm not alone. I catch myself counting the strangest things like each item when unpacking groceries or pulling clothes from basket when I'm trying to find a certain top...nothing wrong with us! Thanks for videos :)
I'm glad I'm not alone! Mainly it's counting my steps when I'm walking.
oh glad press and seal works wonders as well!
I'm a counter as well. It drives me nuts sometimes. Thanks for the tutorial. Very interesting and informative. We have something in common with our daughters.
This is the prettiest cane I have come across on RUclips or Etsy! Very well done.
Thanks! It's one of my favorites. I love the black and white but I want to try it in other colors too.
Thank you very much for sharing your gorgeous artwork.
I really enjoyed watching your beautiful work.❤❤️❤️
Thank you ever so much! I really enjoy your tutorials and will continue learning from you.
I just came across this video and I am glad I did.
It’s amazing.
You are such a good and easy teacher to follow.like ur tutorials and your cowboy accent!!! Thank u
Glad you like my videos. And I'm from VA so that's a southern accent - not cowboy. Thanks!
Hi Gayle! I just love watching your videos! They make me feel so relaxed, like I’m right there next to you watching you. I wish I was your neighbor so that you could be my paid tutor! Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful tutorial with us!!! 😉👍😍🌹🥰
I wish you were my neighbor also! I would love to have someone to clay with.
Love this cane… thx for showing and sharing how to…
Wow, that is gorgeous! I can see why it is your favorite! Very classic and clean. I love learning from you. I have been watching your videos and love what your do! You are very talented! Thank you for sharing your art!
I've tried different colors but the black & white is my favorite! You can also use a square die to make them easier to put together. There's another video that shows this. ruclips.net/video/aeoWIIXq9OA/видео.html
this looks like malachite! I watched a couple of really involved ways of making malachite but I think I will do it this way, with the greens! awesome
Great idea! I would love to see the results! Please post a picture on my Facebook page facebook.com/g0tclay/
I like the black and white and circles. I did see a retro mod with squares. I'm pretty partial to this one.
Hi Gayle, thank you for sharing this with us. I love it. I have a Makins extruder but am hoping for a Czextruder for Christmas. I agree with you, you need to save your hands, that way you can do more with less pain. I also count EVERYTHING, thought I was the only one! So glad you do too, don't know what it says about us though. Praying for your daughter in law. Blessings to you and yours
Thank you very much for your comment! I used a Makins extruder for years and still use it sometimes if I only need a small amount of extrusions. I've really gotten my dollars worth out of it! I do love my CzExtruder though! Glad to know I'm not the only "counter" out there! Now I don't feel so bad!
OMG I LOVE THIS ONE! I'm a black and white fanatic plus a retro fanatic!! I need to save up for an extruder!!
It's my favorite too!
Gayle Thompson 😁 I'm SO going to get me an extruder! I'll be making these in all kinds of colors! but mostly black and white. ;)
hi Gayle I tried this can after watching you and I am over the moon with it. icovered a small phone frame with it and so pleased with the result thank you xx
Great! Isn't it the best?!? I love it. I'm glad you liked it. Just imagine the possibilities with different colors!
Gayle Thompson yes, I have plans to try. I did some colours the other day, but I think I had the heat too high and they lost the major part of their colour. I'm only jus t learning this craft and was getting a bit despondent, but now I want to try loads more techniques. thanks for all your advice.
The best advise I can give you is HAVE FUN!
Great tutorial, you can use all different contrasting colours, I have an extruder but haven't used it yet, but I will be now. Thanks for sharing. xx
Thanks! Glad you like it!
This is such a cool cane!! After watching this I decided to just go ahead and try and make one (mine has some neon pink in it, I just can't resist the pink!!) and I just love it! It's in the fridge right now, bc the clay has gone a bit too soft for slicing.
I'd love to see your cane! The neon pink should add some pop!
Love it made it love it. Love your videos your a great teacher I'm binge watching all of your videos.
What a great idea! Looks great.
I do the same thing, I have counted steps going up and down stairs since I have been little. Sometimes I will even count the stairs backwards. Crazy
I want to thank you. I made this cane and love it :). Thanks so much for sharing your talent
Love your extruded storage container. I have sheets of magnet stuff. Thanks so much for sharing your video. This is exciting to me. I don’t know how many times I can find the extruder but I can’t find the little disc. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. ❤️
Thanks Artie! This is something all clay artists struggle with - how to store their tools. I had this box and the magnetic sheets so I thought I would give it a try - and it works for me. Good luck!
That is my friends pic. I’m Susie loved your work mine came out exactly like yours and I love it! Thank you so much!
Thanks Gayle, I just bought a Extruder now I can't wait to try this out. Cheers Joy from New Zealand 👏
I know you'll have fun with your new toy! Be sure and show me your creations! Thanks for sharing!
I count too and I think I’m a little nuts. Nice to know I’m not alone. 😂😅🤣
Awesome tutorial . Simply great . Loved every bit of the tutorial
Magic! I've been looking forward to this tutorial & it didn't disappoint. Can't wait to try it. Thank you.
Glad you liked it. It is so much fun and you never know what the end result will be.
I missed how thick you roll out the clay for cutting the circles.
Great video....wonderful cane!!
I may not have said. I used #0 which is the largest setting on my pasta machine for this cane. However, you can vary the thicknesses for a different effect. Have fun!
This is a fabulous cane thank you.going to give it a go,
Love this cane and I have learned so much from your tutorials… thank you for all your efforts for us
Thanks! I appreciate your comment!
I am enjoying your lessons so much. Thank you .
Thanks!
Very beautiful 💖
Yes! I count things, too! And what an interesting process! I recently got a Makins extruded, but haven’t tried it out yet - good to have some ideas here. Thanks 😉
Watching this vid awhile after you published; was disappointed your etsy shop is no longer open; that purse holder was beautiful.. well, I guess I will try to follow your tutorial and make my own?
Enjoyed the vid, you're very talented.!!
I'm sorry but I had to close my shop because nothing was selling. I DO still have the purse holder if you're interested. I had it listed for $12.99 but will let you have it for $10. Let me know by email if you're interested. luv2clay@gmail.com
Gayle, thank you for this wonderful tutorial. You’re so generous, and your work is beautiful.
I followed along with you and created this beautiful work of art. So, I’m a newbie so would I slice it and put together and flatten to make earrings, pendants, etc.? I’m gonna try red, white, blue for Memorial Day! ☮️😀❤️
What a wonderful video! I learned so much. Thank you!! Gayle, would you consider doing a video showing us how to use the disks that have the backgrounds such as the heart with the background disk? Also, I'd love to get your ideas about how to use that butterfly disk!!

Hi! I count steps. I count the number of swallows it takes to finish a drink. I have mild OCD
Great job. Thanks
Making some tonight!
Such an interesting cane. Love it and I do count everything too. lol
It's one of my favorites too! And I'm glad I'm not alone!
Beautiful!
I love this cane too!! am going to see how my little extruder does with it!! Thank you so much for sharing your talents with me!!! You are so awesome
I love it!!!!
Thanks!
Cool !😻
Hello Gayle i just watched your Video and i think maybe it's also nice to use a square shaped extruder disc it may help to keep the square shape of the cane as well. Btw sorry for my english. i Love your Tutorials.
Thanks! I thought about using a square extruder disc but just haven't had time to try it. I love the 'roundness' of the circles. And your English is very good!
Very nice,
Hi Gayle I just found you on here really enjoying your videos. Love the look of this
Thanks! This is one of my favorite canes! I've only used black and white but one day I will try other colors.
Magnifique , thank you
Amazing!! Thank you!!
I do the same thing about walking and counting.
Even starting to count 21 22....
As separate steps.
I'm always counting.
I love this retro cane Gayle! Just got an extruder and am going to try this today. I don't have "primo" so I hope it will work. Love your videos! I so enjoy listening to your personal stories. Feels like hanging out with a friend. (I also count a lot, going up the stairs, etc. just how my brain works too!)
Glad I'm not alone! Thanks!
I hate the personal stuff! My time is more valuable!
Hi gayle, I love your videos! And I really love your accent you remind me if my relatives from georgia.
Hello where did you find your lucy clay extruder. All I can find is the big one thanks
So awesome! TFS!
Thanks again!
LOVE~
Thank you for sharing your video. I'm getting my extruder to work!
Great! This cane is so much fun!
why didnt you use a drill on both of them...I have the drill adaptor for my extruder?
Very cool cane! Thanks for sharing it
Thanks! It's my favorite!
Gayle Thompson do you still have your Easy store? I found you there but not your store, I think my mother in law would really like one of those purse hangers
ps. Just added Spin Brushes to my Amazon cart, best idea ever, I hate sanding! :D
I closed my Etsy store because it was costing me more than I was making. BUT I do have a Destash Video of things I've made. There are a few on there. Here's the link. ruclips.net/video/jkyFIu_tWcw/видео.html
I know! It saves a lot of sanding fingers!
It’s not boring to me.
Your voice is so soothing
Thanks!
Beautiful! I have only tried paper clay so far. But I love your tutorials. TFS Hugz
Thanks! Hopefully I can make a polymer clay convert out of you! ;~0
You count and probably do many other things like that bc your left brain dominant, which means your creative, always thinking. It's a good thing! your such a peach. ❤
Thanks! You are right about the "always thinking". I have a hard time turning off my brain. I've tried meditation but failed because my brain won't slow down!
Gayle Thompson I used to think the same about meditation, for many years. Recently I've found guided meditation on utube VERY beneficial. I have to say it, but I'm addicted now. It's amazing. it may take a few times, but if you keep at it, you will be pleasantly surprised! there are so many guided meditation and it may take a few times finding a guide you "click" with.

Thanks for the suggestion. I may give it a try - when I have time!!
Love this cane Gayle.. making now😍
My absolute favorite cane! Glad you like it.
Now that my daughter bought me the Czextruder for mothers day, I tossed out all the other extruders I had - they were too hard for me. Now I have a world of canes I want to make, and I will make this one of the first.
Don't you just love the Czextruder!!??!! It's worth the price since it makes the process so much easier. I feel that way about all of their products! I have the slicer, too and have pre-ordered the Elephane rolling machine! Can't wait until they are available!
You crack me up. I hope it worked out for your daughter!
I love this one the possibilities are endless. I also count when I am walking and like you then after twenty go back to on and count by tens/
Thanks! Glad you like it!
FANTASTIC!!!
Oh wow
yes sorry, southern accent.love it.
amazing love it
Can I ask, when I got my makins it came with a little rubber ring. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with this ring, and I cannot see it anywhere in your extruder. Do you know what this ring is for and where it should go? Would be so grateful for your advice. Wonderful tutorial by the way.
Yes - that is an extra ring in case the ring inside breaks. The part that pushes the clay thru has a rubber o-ring that fits around it. You don't need to do anything with it right now. Just keep it in a safe place in case you need it later. Have fun with your extruder!
Thanks so much Gayle. I'd already tried adding it between the extruder and the disc just in case, but now I understand a little better :) Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you. Look forward to many more of your beautiful creations in 2017 xx
Cool technique! Guess I need an extruder now! Lol! Thanks for sharing!
Everyone needs a good excuse for more toys! Glad you liked the tutorial.
extruder
Hola Gayle,no pierde forma la Cane si la hago más fina?????.me gusta mucho para cubrir las Perlas.
I love this cane. Do the different discs for extruders fit each other? Or can I only buy the same brand as my extruder?
Gayle - I was going to ask the same question. I have the Makins extruder but wondered if the Lucy disks will work in it until I can get the Lucy extruder? Thanks for the great videos!
FUN FUN FUN
Yes, it is! Thanks!
Thanks for a very informative video! Can this cane now be sliced into tiles?
Yes. YOu can slice it into tiles or slice it thinly and apply to a flat sheet to make a veneer - or apply to a bead. I've used it for a lot of different projects.
I stole a picture of your notes as I create this. Thank you.
Love it. I'm going to give it a go... Have you tried it with a square plate?
I have tried the square die and the inside rings were not quite as round as with the round die. For this particular project, I wanted the round rings but the square rings look great too! Thanks for asking!
When I try to do this sort of thing, I get tiny spaces between the canes. I try to work them out, but then my pattern gets distorted or the colors smear.
I have spaces also but I squeeze the cane until they disappear - trying not to squeeze so hard that the cane gets distorted. Maybe try using a square extruder disc rather than a round one. That way you will have flat sides to fit together with fewer spaces. Hope this helps!
Could you use the square disk instead of the circle ones
Sorry I haven't responded sooner. I've been sick. Of course you can use a square disk. It may look a little different since the design will be more square than round but it will fit into a square cane much easier.
love your tutorials bought my extruder at hobby lobby
Where do you get the Lucy extruder?
I bought it from the Lucy Clay people. They have a USA store as well as a CZ store. Here is the link: www.lucyclaytools.com/czextruder/ It's a little pricey but so worth it if you do a lot of extrusions.
what is the plastic paper called ? Does it come in a box?
I thought I saw a cheat sheet where you had them all written down?
I may have had one but it was so long ago and I don't have it anymore. Did I show the list in the video? If so you can pause the video and write it down. Sorry I can't be more help!
It is ok, I will do as suggested, thank you!
You'll never guess what I found while cleaning out my files on my laptop! My notes for this cane! Here is what I did. I made 2 stacks. Stack 1 - 2w, 1b, 1w, 1b, 2w, 2b, 1w, 1b, 1w, 1b, 2w, 1b, 1w, 2b, 1w, 1b Stack 2 - 2b, 1w, 1b, 1w, 2b, 2w, 1b, 1w, 1b, 1w, 2b, 1w, 1b, 2w, 1b, 1w. Hope this helps!
Where did you find the plastic sheets? I've been using paper protector pockets but they are very hard to work on, though I love storing my conditioned clay on the sheets. I sandwich like colors of all sizes and then organized in manilla folders. The sheets you were using would be the perfect addition to my method so I can keep them close yet clean while I'm creating
I bought them at a clay retreat years ago. They are made by Papercon. Maybe you could Google it and find them. Sorry I can't be of more help. I'll try to find a source and let you know .
I used to store my sheets in page protectors, too.
I tried finding the sheets that I have and can't find them anywhere. However, Georgia-Pacific makes what appears to be the same thing but I can only find them in cases of 10 boxes on Amazon. That is probably how the person I bought these from got it. I seem to remember that they were only available in cases.
+Gayle Thompson (Luv2Clay) Thank you for your help!! I found some papers that seem similar to those on your video on the site, www.webstaurantstore.com, called Papercon EcoCraft Bake 'N' Reuse. Even if it's not exactly the same, it appears that it will suffice at last while working without messing up the clay.
Beth Kapustka I only found parchment paper on this site. This will leach your clay so I wouldn't use it to store your clay in. Mine are plastic.
Beth Kapustka On that same site search for plastic deli wrap. There are several that show up. Here's one: www.webstaurantstore.com/10-3-4-x-8-plastic-deli-wrap-and-bakery-wrap/433CP8.html
How can I show pictures of my cane?
Was that your cane that was posted on my Facebook page? That's the only way I know to share it right now. facebook.com/g0tclay/
OR you could send a picture to me by email luv2clay@gmail.com.
Yes that was me! :)
Then I saw you canes. Great!
Your correct please forgive me.
Ms Gayle, could or would you show your recipe of blk ans whites? On screen?
Sorry but the only way I could do that is to watch the video and see how I did it. Every time the stack is different. Just alternate black and white and double up every 3 or 4 pieces. Sorry I can't be more precise.
I've watched a few of the videos. The info is great but the filming is near esoteric! ...just hard to see. but i do thank you for the info
Thanks for watching. I'm sorry you can't see the video well. I am a crafter - not a film maker so they will not be perfect.
Oh I know that well. I'm a healer not a marketer, so I understand limitations.
As a healer you must also be aware how hurtful words can be.
Gayle Thompson
just feedback from the audience, my dear. it's okay, I don't have to watch anymore .
peace
Is that cellophane????
Not sure what you're asking. Is what cellophane? If you look at the date of the video it's quite old and I don't remember some of the details.
