    Thank you for doing this demo in real time. It is unnerving to watch vids where everything seems to happen in a flash. I find it helpful to see how even "simple" things such as putting extruded clay together is instructive.

      I know what you mean. That is the main reason I started doing video tutorials. Most of the ones I saw on RUclips were fast-forwarded. Sometimes I would want to see the brand name on a bottle or something but it is gone before I can read it. I'm glad you like the real-time.

      @@Mimismarketva I must disagree! I seldom watch your tutorials because they are entirely TOO LONG! I don't have 45 minutes to watch a tutorial! They include things I don't need to know!
      EXAMPLE: Why do I need to see how many sets you have & what each of them do? VERY BORING & ANNOYING! If I can see someone else doing same type tutorial I'll watch them instead!

    Hi Gayle. I never did get an extruder. I'm not sure what. I think I really need to start making some canes. I think pink orange and white would look pretty. I'm so glad you decided to make videos. You have a lot of knowledge and we are lucky you share it. Love this. Ttyl. Sara

      I wrap them in the plastic sheets I showed in my videos and then store them several different ways. The small ones I keep in ammo cases I got at Harbor Freight. Some are kept in craft storage boxes. I'm working on reorganizing them now so maybe I'll do a craft room tour to show some of my storage ideas.

    Hi Gayle, thank you for sharing this with us. I love it. I have a Makins extruder but am hoping for a Czextruder for Christmas. I agree with you, you need to save your hands, that way you can do more with less pain. I also count EVERYTHING, thought I was the only one! Can I ask, when I got my makins it came with a little rubber ring. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with this ring, and I cannot see it anywhere in your extruder. Do you know what this ring is for and where it should go? Would be so grateful for your advice. Wonderful tutorial by the way.

    • @Mimismarketva
      @Mimismarketva  7 лет назад

      Yes - that is an extra ring in case the ring inside breaks. The part that pushes the clay thru has a rubber o-ring that fits around it. You don't need to do anything with it right now. Just keep it in a safe place in case you need it later. Have fun with your extruder!

      Thanks so much Gayle. I'd already tried adding it between the extruder and the disc just in case, but now I understand a little better :) Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you. Look forward to many more of your beautiful creations in 2017 xx

    I love this cane. Do the different discs for extruders fit each other? Or can I only buy the same brand as my extruder?

      Gayle - I was going to ask the same question. I have the Makins extruder but wondered if the Lucy disks will work in it until I can get the Lucy extruder? Thanks for the great videos!

    Thanks for a very informative video! Can this cane now be sliced into tiles?

    • @Mimismarketva
      @Mimismarketva  6 лет назад +1

      Yes. YOu can slice it into tiles or slice it thinly and apply to a flat sheet to make a veneer - or apply to a bead. I've used it for a lot of different projects.

    Love it. I'm going to give it a go... Have you tried it with a square plate?

    • @Mimismarketva
      @Mimismarketva  8 лет назад

      I have tried the square die and the inside rings were not quite as round as with the round die. For this particular project, I wanted the round rings but the square rings look great too! Thanks for asking!

    When I try to do this sort of thing, I get tiny spaces between the canes. I try to work them out, but then my pattern gets distorted or the colors smear.

    • @Mimismarketva
      @Mimismarketva  6 лет назад

      I have spaces also but I squeeze the cane until they disappear - trying not to squeeze so hard that the cane gets distorted. Maybe try using a square extruder disc rather than a round one. That way you will have flat sides to fit together with fewer spaces. Hope this helps!

    Could you use the square disk instead of the circle ones

    • @Mimismarketva
      @Mimismarketva  6 лет назад

      Sorry I haven't responded sooner. I've been sick. Of course you can use a square disk. It may look a little different since the design will be more square than round but it will fit into a square cane much easier.

    Where do you get the Lucy extruder?

    • @Mimismarketva
      @Mimismarketva  6 лет назад

      I bought it from the Lucy Clay people. They have a USA store as well as a CZ store. Here is the link: www.lucyclaytools.com/czextruder/ It's a little pricey but so worth it if you do a lot of extrusions.

    Where did you find the plastic sheets? I've been using paper protector pockets but they are very hard to work on, though I love storing my conditioned clay on the sheets. I sandwich like colors of all sizes and then organized in manilla folders. The sheets you were using would be the perfect addition to my method so I can keep them close yet clean while I'm creating

    • @Mimismarketva
      @Mimismarketva  8 лет назад

      I bought them at a clay retreat years ago. They are made by Papercon. Maybe you could Google it and find them. Sorry I can't be of more help. I'll try to find a source and let you know .
      I used to store my sheets in page protectors, too.

    • @Mimismarketva
      @Mimismarketva  8 лет назад

      I tried finding the sheets that I have and can't find them anywhere. However, Georgia-Pacific makes what appears to be the same thing but I can only find them in cases of 10 boxes on Amazon. That is probably how the person I bought these from got it. I seem to remember that they were only available in cases.

      +Gayle Thompson (Luv2Clay) Thank you for your help!! I found some papers that seem similar to those on your video on the site, www.webstaurantstore.com, called Papercon EcoCraft Bake 'N' Reuse. Even if it's not exactly the same, it appears that it will suffice at last while working without messing up the clay.

    • @Mimismarketva
      @Mimismarketva  8 лет назад

      Beth Kapustka I only found parchment paper on this site. This will leach your clay so I wouldn't use it to store your clay in. Mine are plastic.

      Beth Kapustka On that same site search for plastic deli wrap. There are several that show up. Here's one: www.webstaurantstore.com/10-3-4-x-8-plastic-deli-wrap-and-bakery-wrap/433CP8.html

      Sorry but the only way I could do that is to watch the video and see how I did it. Every time the stack is different. Just alternate black and white and double up every 3 or 4 pieces. Sorry I can't be more precise.
