    i really wanted to try this but i dont have any inks, so i tried it with tiny bits of colour clay to tint the translucent and it worked a treat, my new favourite thing to make right now! thank you for the tutorial!

      Thanks! I'm glad it worked for you. That is always an option but I didn't want to confuse everyone since I was using alcohol inks.

    So glad you are using translucent... It gives you more dimension after baking. I layer a solid on the bottom, add foil leaf, then add translucent clay on top. Then finish process of the technique.Turns out beautiful!

    Such a cool looking cane, Gayle. Day at KalyanaDesign sent me here to watch this. I really love the effect! Kinda cellular, but also like a bed of tiny pebbles. Can't wait to try this out with earthy colors. Thanks for such a well-done tutorial!

    great tip on pinching the ends when reducing. I've been working with polymer clay for some time but often get frustrated when reducing due to the amount of waste when canes become misshapen. Look forward to trying this reducing technique and the cane you demoed. thanks!

    this is so cool! also, great idea to put alcohol in a spray bottle. I use little alcohol wipes clean my work area and tools and such, but this is a WAY better idea. And I agree about the smell of alcohol lol. I remember as a kid going to the doctor for shots and I loved the smell of those little alcohol wipes

    👍 Very easy to do cane with a nice look. When you cut it I instantly thought WOW that would look really nice to cover a glass bowl but in blue to match my good dishes. It would make a cool bangle braclet too. Maybe do 2-3 different colors and cover a bangle with it in stripes. Thanks for sharing this!!! Can't wait to see what you do with it.

    I wouldn't of thought of using alcohol inks to dye polymer clay
    I will have to try this👍
    I work in 1 inch scale dollhous e miniatures and use polymer
    clay for to make food and this idea would be good to just add
    a tiny of color to my clay for certain foods like pies and cakes like key lime pie,lemon meringue pie etc... Foods that have a translucent look to them.

    Unfortunately pasta machines are different in their settings. What may be a 3 for yours may be something else for someone else. Any hint on what a "3" might be in say...1/4", or 1/8" or a certain number of playing cards thick for example?

    I hear it’s not a good clay to work with.

    • @Mimismarketva
      @Mimismarketva  Год назад

      No. I tried it when I first began working with clay because it was cheaper but it was so brittle that my creations always cracked and broke. In my opinion it is only good for bead cores.

    YAY 2 videos a week! Woot Woot! Oh that is super cool looking! So many possibilities with this! I can see making a soap dish or a ring thing what do you call it? It has a dish and a tapered column/stick thingy coming up out of the middle. Ugh A.D.D. mixed with the apparent onset of alzheimers mixed together is not a cool thing to have when trying to recall the names of things lol. I can also see using slices to cover a wooden picture frame. (and maybe a mini birdbath) Also, different size circles might add a neat twist to it. You could also wrap the green translucent it pearl, and then white, that would look neat, too. Cant wait for your next video, thanks for sharing!
