    You did a very well job of explaining the job. The only thing worth adding. Is be very careful. Especially if you have never pulled a tranny. When it goes back in. Get your bellhousing bolts in loosely and make sure the trans is tight against the motor and that your torque converter spins easy. If it does then tighten the bellhousing bolts. If it doesn't spin. This is where you wanna be very careful. Drop the tranny out again and spin the torque converter with pressure against it. And you'll hear it clunk in. Usually the tranny shop bolts a hold down in place. That prevents this. If you ignore this you most likely will bust your pump. And then there goes some more money and it's gotta come out again.

      For anyone that is struggling with the torque converter bolts some heat made all the difference for me, they wouldn't budge with a breaker bar and Allen socket so we stopped and put the torch to them for 20 seconds or so and they came right out

    • @ZHPGarage

      If you have an auto transfer case, yes it’s the Auto Trac II. This one was a manual transfer case.

    So it should be the same for a 2006 Silverado 1500 z71

    • @ZHPGarage
      @ZHPGarage  2 года назад

      Should be, only difference would be if it’s 2WD instead of 4WD. Then there would be no transfer case or front driveline.

  • @NYRM1974
    @NYRM1974 3 года назад +4

    I would have pre-filled the transfer case before re-installing it. Question what position did you shift the gears in before removing the old transmission. I have a 4L60E but with drive by wire set up.

    • @ZHPGarage
      @ZHPGarage  3 года назад +4

      It would’ve leaked out of the tail shaft if it had fluid in it before re installing it. The one in the video is a drive by wire, I had it in park when I pulled it out but just make sure it’s out of park, like neutral, so you can spin the driveline so you can line it up with the u joints on the rear end.

    I do have a question I have a wire harness that goes down the left side driver side of my transmission it has a torque bit or something on the top is that easy to remove when I start dropping the transmission? How much fluid do I put in a torque converter on a rebuilt transmission? Thanks your video was a lot more informative. Thanks

    • @ZHPGarage
      @ZHPGarage  3 месяца назад +1

      You should be able to undo the bolt with transmission still in but if not, you can when the transmission is dropped down a little bit.
      Put just enough fluid in the converter that fluid won’t come out when it’s on its side to install into transmission.

    Can I just trade the bellhousing from a 99 to a 2000 4l60?

    • @ZHPGarage
      @ZHPGarage  3 года назад +1

      Great question Glory! The 99-00 4L60 should have the same bell housing. As long as you’re 100% it’s a 4L60e and not a 4L65e transmission, the bolt on bell housing started in 96 and in 98 went to a 300mm torque converter. The 4L65e was phased in in 01 with the 6.0 liter (RPO M32). So if you have a 96-00 4L60e transmission all bell housing are interchangeable.
