Wish you very well with your surgery Russell. My Gosh, after you have recovered from your surgery, there will be no stopping you. Those beavers are in for a big surprise with the new and renewed Russell after them. :) Love your videos and you always have something very interesting to talk about. Your garden looks very bountiful. I had poor luck with my onions and garlic but we have so many tomatoes, I am starting to look like one HAAAA! Nice car City Girl, nice to spoil yourself with a new set of wheels. Take Care Russell and focus on yourself and your recovery. Hugs sent your way.

I so much appreciate your sharing Raspberry Rock with all of us, as well as your "there must be a way to do this, right?" attitude, and your sense of humor. Please take it slow and easy. We'll keep. In the meantime, I'll be holding you and Alicia close in thought.

Russell, my sister had the same medical procedure, interesting for sure. She was back at it in a couple of days. Had to have it done about 18 months later, they told her next time it might not work. She lost a bunch of weight, remarried and is in heaven with her new life. No issues at all in over two years since the last one. Always on the go drinks whatever she wants. I sincerely hope you can beat this monster like she has. I will see her tomorrow going to East Texas and ask about the Drugs she takes. God bless you in your quest to beat this monster.

Hi Russell. I was worried about you when I did not see a video for a few weeks. Sorry you suffer from AFib. I have that too. Mine is in remission after the Ablation procedure. They went in through my groin, no cutting open. It has been about 2 years now and my heart is doing well. So I hope for best outcome for you. AFib is NO fun!!! Anxiety producing, for sure. I worry about you out in the woods with the bad trail to get out. Keep us posted when you can. Hang in there. 🌻💖🌻

Russell! Great to hear from you, hope you are doing better in the coming months...
As for the lights turning on when you open the cupboard, you could just use a fridge switch, they sell them on amazon! if you need help with a mount feel free to reach out!
alternatively you could just look up a momentary switch normally closed, and use any of those that are rated for the voltage of your lights!
the three way switch is a great idea for the fridge beacon, you could also use a relay that is normally closed, when you remove the power from the coil it would connect the beacon to power.
    good luck!

Hey Russell, I had a relative have that ablation procedure. It was like night and day for them. They went from barely being able to walk around the block to going for 2-3 mile outings no trouble at all. I hope it all goes well for you. I'd be happy to hear about your experience finding and buying the property, why you did it, that sort of things. And of course, your time lapses are always great too. Be well.

Hi Russell, I myself am going through the same thing. I'm scheduled for an ablation this coming Thursday, this will be my third in 8 years. I was good for 7 years after I had them before but the stress of life got to this year and I fell back into A-fib. Good luck with yours, it will help if you stop drinking. I use to drink a lot also but no more and I love it! Good luck bro.

I had an ablasion done 1 + yrs ago because of all the A fib I have had and shock to heart to get it back into rhythm since then no A fib. Now in October I am having the Watchman installed to heart where you are having the clots form then I can get off blood thinners for good. The Watchman is inserted the same way the ablasion was done going thru your groin artery. Only a week rest and of course no heavy lifting. You got this Russell. Good luck and much better health ahead of you.

My uncle just had an ablation, he feels great now. You’re going to feel amazing when they’re done. Until then read a book, watch the birds, take naps on the porch and test out some new hobbies like painting, taking photographs, etc.

Russell, first I am sending all manner of positive thoughts for smooth procedure and speedy recovery. Next...I'm about as low tech as they come, I would do something very simple and low tech for the fridge reminder. I would choose an object, something that would look extremely out of place on the top of the fridge, let's say a pink flamingo (dollar store kinda thing). When you turn the fridge OFF to film or upload, what have you, the object goes on top of the fridge. It stays there while the fridge is off. Then as you go about your business after finishing videos etc you will more than likely see this object (you really need something that jumps out at you) this serves as the reminder "ah, yes I need to turn the fridge back on" . Then once you turn the fridge back on take the object and just keep it in a nearby drawer tucked away. This is the kinda thing I do to help me remember things, it works well, costs not much and is stupid simple to operate (which I like!) I subscribe to the KISS methodology "Keep. It. Stupid. Simple" :)

Russ, simple just use a 120 volt relay, plug it into the same plug as the fridge, the relay coil side is activated when power is on. Then use the set of relay switch contacts that when the relay depowers it throws the switch, to activate a bell or light circuit connected to its own battery source, mount it all in a small box. Entire Project should cost only about 20 bucks. I used to do this stuff as a kid. 😉

For the fridge off light, I am thinking about those circuit breakers for large appliances where 2 CBs are connected together and they have to be turned off together. You could creatively wire one breaker to power the fridge normally and the second connected breaker could be wired the reverse way to turn on a red light when the breaker is switched "off". Would probably need it's own small panel and some non=approved wiring! Take care. - Dave

Hi Russel. Firstly, I hope all goes well with the ablation and you come away feeling 1000%.
I am a sparky downunder and I have installed some battery cabinet lighting solutions for the elderly in the last few years. Of course, I am not suggesting you are elderly, but being remote you have similar isolation issues. They are available here so I would assume you can get something in Canada or USA. They are available with sensors so as soon as you open the cabinet door it will, mostly, 'see' you and operate the light. You would be best out there with rechargeable batteries as they last a reasonable time and easier for you to recharge than needing to replace. Its a much easier and more flexible solution than running wires through everything. Google battery cabinet lighting and see what comes up.
With the Fridge, 2 solutions pop into my mind. I believe you want a 'manual' off and an 'auto' on. Over here we have pnuematic pushbuttons designed to be used in blocks of apartments so the walkway lights dont stay on forever. They have a switch contact on them and are available in 'reverse action', meaning the power is on in its standby state. Times can be set with a delay of up to 20 minutes. Google a Clipsal 319RA so you get an idea. Other than something mechanical, Ray could hook you up a pushbutton and a timer in a junction box with a light on the lid. You could use a timer with any delay you think the fridge will be happy with, simply push the button, power to the fridge goes off and the light comes on, then after the pre set time delay, the fridge will power back up. No more forgetting after a few beer reviews. LOL.
All the best from your pal in Australia.
    Regards
    Colin
PS I finally caught up with all the videos you ever posted. Phew! What a marathon, but it was fun.

I can empathise Russell. I've had paroxysmal a-fib for 14 years now. I know all about the meds 'kicking the ar$e' .. I feel for you. Bon courage cheri x

Hi Russell! My brother-in-law was really struggling with A-Fib like you and had an ablation procedure which very much helped him. He drank a lot of alcohol before the procedure, still drinks a lot of alcohol now and is doing well. I hope your procedure works the same as his. Good luck with everything!

They make power indicating switches with a light built into the switch to let you know the power is on/off to the switch. Not expensive either

I had Cardiac conversion for the Atrial Fib. Medications are essential to keep you quiet and inhibit the return of the arrhythmia.
So even cleaning house or cooking gets me down and needed bed rest after. Heavy lifting is out. so hired a cleaning lady who also does laundry in automatic machines. no lifting of laundry hamper. Buying a lot or ready made foods, Now over a year and meds are required. You are younger but a man;s world there. At 88 I never did most chores required about your 'forest' home.Men push for heavy, dirty and tiresome work your way. You will have to adjust to very slow going. Sometimes i don't think I will get to more than bathroom and back. As well I had to have a pacemaker. Follow orders or days are short numbered.

any surgery is scary and obviously when it involves the heart its scarier however heart surgery was my dad's specialty and I know you will fly through this, try not to worry. Rachel had heart surgery as a baby and well if she can do it so can you. Dont worry about the channel, take care of yourself. We will all be here when you are recovered. I took a trip to NYC from western Washington state. I ate at.more fast food sandwich shops for over 10 weeks. More then I ever ate in Mt life. It tasted good , but the salami and pepperoni made my BP sky rocket. I had so many other problems. Bottom line I was sick for over 4 months, and was practically eating baby food. I just started feeling better. Russell after your surgery eat correctly my friend..Peace

    Friiiiiiiiiiiidaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy!!!!!
Hi Russ, I would like a bit of a sketch of where things are at the cabin / beaver pond and other ponds. Because although I don't fish anymore I keep wondering why not put a few fish in the ponds to grow and maybe some other youtuber might be happy to give advice on it with a vid collaboration. I watch plenty of other tubers that could probably help if they knew the layout.
I also recently mentioned the dock and a small digger for the front area by the pond. There must be again another tuber who would be happy to collaborate with you on how to make a nicer path down to the dock area and how to make a nice floating pontoon thing. Yes, it will cost money I know, but again there maybe someone who would be willing to do it for promotion and pay maybe just the cost of the materials. May even be someone who would donate material left over.
That trail to the cabin from the car parking. I wish I was local, I would be over to help you get that more manageable for all seasons. It was the sort of thing I used to like doing a few years back. That bridge of doom area would be my first job, raise that up and make it more permanent with some cut down trees (dead standing etc). Then levelling some of the track a little at a time.
Maybe you don't want to do these things though and just want nature to do it's thing?
Hope everything goes well for you and hope you manage to make a some smaller vids, even if they are quick chats etc.
Take care - all the way from Wales, UK.

Hi Russell, I was diagnosed with arterial fibleration February, I was devastated on the news. I was sent home with a beta blocker and told to see a cardiologist but I have no medical insurance, when my pills needed to be renewed I phoned my doctor at which he said shocked "are you still alive " he spoke to a cardiologist and he recommended I get my heart shocked back to rhythm and should it not work an op was the only option. My heart was shocked back to rhythm. My two boxes of meds cost me R1000 per box and was told to drink it for the rest of my life. Anyway after 2 months I got fed up and went to another doctor and was told not to worry, arterial fibleration comes from stress and to relax more. A month later I went to our state hospital for a ECG and guess what it showed I have high blood pressure and no longer arterial fibleration. I,m struggling with anxiety which seems to hit me at night , I,m drinking a small tablet .25mg which helps alot. Please look after yourself and RELAX more. I will be praying for you. I just love watching you and city girls videos. God Bless, I,m Barbara 61 from South Africa 🇿🇦 pls keep us updated after your op.
