In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
Very helpful video. Mine original transducer got whacked buy something when fishing in Mexico. Had to get a whole new bracket. Wasn’t sure how high to mount it. Now I know why I wasn’t metering at speed.
Sonar acting up when too hot, thats a big issue from Lowrance.I taught i was gonna buy that one but you are making me think twice before buying this sonar. Thanks for sharing that valuable info bud !
yes when the elite 7ti sits in the Sun it will stop working. it will not let you touch the screen anymore usually I will put a cold rag on it and that helps
I have just Purchased the same unit great video thank you for the tip....My biggest question I have with watching all the videos on the Internet...Am I supposed to level the transducer like you did in this video (with the bottom of the boat half in half out of the water) or do i level it with the water line on how the boat Sits in the water? any help would be greatly appreciated
nice explanation i will confirm it installed leveled like you show with your straight edge. how from the most right end edge you installed the transducer ?
I have an elite ti7 unit but want to know how tight must the transducer be , mine moves a lot, do you have to let it move up when you take your boat out of the water or just keep it on the parallel way. Please end me a message
Great looking bracket you've made, thank you for the video. How did it fish - have you had to make adjustments on it - do you lose bottom at speed.,? -Bob
Great video. Just what i needed to know. Thanks ..I just got my elite 7 TI. I have no idea what transducer to in stall. Need one for ever thing the unit will do. Help
That was my question -- can you turn it 180 degrees without affecting transducer performance? From what you said I'm thinking you can. Thanks good video.
What happens if the transducer is mounted a foot lower than the bottom of the boat? I only use a bow mount terrova on my boat so speed is not an issue. I want to mount it on the bottom of my rudder I built.
I'm sure it will be perfectly fine as long as there's nothing obstructing the left or right side. It could possibly throw off the side scan being on a rudder .?
With the totalscan transducer being so long and sticking out so far have you had any trouble in brushy or rocky areas with the tranducer possibly breaking bracket ?
I see you have the transducer mounted with wire to the front, does your side scan rear backwards? // I want to change my mount to the new style mount and wire has to run out the front.
Nice bracket and excellent video. I suffer from loss of sonar at plane as well. Can you add instructions in the description on how to make that bracket?
Ok I may not have been clear on this I was talking about something possibly striking it from the side if your boat was anchored are parked and the back end drifting around and a tree limb or rock hitting it .
Just installed a total scan transducer. What a pain in that ass trying to get working on plane. There is nothing in front of it. Just rivets. Which you can't file down. I have dull grey Line even with the bottom of the boat. I get a rooster tail at high speeds. Sometimes lose bottom also. I have adjusted it up and down. Same results. Also. It's a elite ti 9". Like the unit. But nightmare transducer.
Perfect... thank you... I just bought an elite ti totalscan and my transducer won't fit directly in front of the outboard and I was worried about the interference.... thank you
John Horn you could put a hundred fifty pound person and a 50 quart cooler full of ice and beer in the front it would still porpoise I put a Davis XL whale tail on and ground the weld off now it works fine

Finally a video that explains proper placement and is spot on. Thanks
Lol your welcome
The instruction manual that came with mine said the same thing - I put it on and it worked perfectly...
it works perfect now it is very easy to pinpoint fish when using all 3 sonar, down scan and structure scan at the same time
Awesome video bro, just bought a elite 12 ti. And it's giving me this problem. This video will come In handy.

I will probably choose another unit without Touchscreen...I dont understand why Lowrance is selling something unusable...Regard
Thanks for the assist. This issue has frustrating me to figure out on my ti7
Realy good video! Great practical tips on setting up the transducer, very helpful!!
Same issue thanks for the tip!
What did you make the mounting plate of? Thanks

Thank you for taking the time to make this video.

Just got one. Thanks for the heads up on positioning Otis.
very informative and also entertaining video Otis .I like your style
keep up the good work..cheers
That was my question -- can you turn it 180 degrees without affecting transducer performance? From what you said I'm thinking you can. Thanks good video.
It works the same just flop screen
Does it mirror image the sides?
What about transducer on trolling motor?
Hey your big moter don't block the side sonar? I got a jon boat and I just got a 7ti and I'm trying to figure out how to mount the transducer
It dose a little in shallow water with the motor trimmed all the way down
Good on ya Otis howdy from Australia!
Thanks me friend, so helpful for me you explanations .
What kind of boat do you have?

3/16 aluminum plate with rvt silicone and 3/8 stainless steel screws.
Some decent info but how do you know exactly the "shiny" line is when you're on plane?
Follow-on - where is the shiny line in conjunction with the bottom of the boat?
With the totalscan transducer being so long and sticking out so far have you had any trouble in brushy or rocky areas with the tranducer possibly breaking bracket ?
bobby smith no it still has one bolt on the other side so it can Flex
I see you have the transducer mounted with wire to the front, does your side scan rear backwards? // I want to change my mount to the new style mount and wire has to run out the front.
you can adjust the way reads in your settings.so either way you rig is ok. hope that helps
Nice bracket and excellent video. I suffer from loss of sonar at plane as well. Can you add instructions in the description on how to make that bracket?
I will see what I can do

Chad Carr mine still loses bottom sometimes in saltwater not sure why
Did you make the plate or buy it as is?
I made it .
Does your transducer pick up the outboard on side imaging when mounted in this spot?
Luke Miller yes but I only have to trim the motor up a little bit and it works perfect
Perfect... thank you... I just bought an elite ti totalscan and my transducer won't fit directly in front of the outboard and I was worried about the interference.... thank you
What boat looks like my 2010 tracker pro guide deep v
2015 Tracker Pro 160 mod v
Good tips
Bruh 😉 thanks for the info I mean great info each 1 teach 1 😉 AMEN 🙌✌️💓
Can't believe you have to put it in a coller either.Did you call Lowrance?I would have.
I'm having the same problem with my ti5
I don't have the total scan version, but my downscan version is always in the sun, its never given me any trouble with heat.
is yours the touch screen version mine is Lawrence Elite 7ti
Otis Pye Yes it's touch screen. It's the Elite TI 7". I only have trouble when the screen and my hands are wet, then it's hard to use.
Thxs 4 sharing
Sad that they had to add weld to create drag........ easier to add weight to nose ..or put trim fins on cavitation plate
John Horn you could put a hundred fifty pound person and a 50 quart cooler full of ice and beer in the front it would still porpoise I put a Davis XL whale tail on and ground the weld off now it works fine
is that how your boat sits in the water when your ideling the way its sitting on the trailor
Bass Monkey yes I leveled the water marks on the side of the boat
Bass Monkey Fishing this video is all about not keeping up while on plane so idling doesn't really matter
thank again
you lowrance guys have to put your damn head units in a cooler to use them on a hot day? LMAO im glad i chose humminbird
I've had more problems with my lowrance. I'm gonna sell it and get a garmin.
That's what I did LOL
@@hollybrit09 how do you like the garmin ? thanks
@@John_D2 my Garmin doesn't overheat and I'm on the same transducer for over a year I went through three Lawrence transducers
@@hollybrit09 thanks brother im def done with lowrance. thanks for the heads up.
