And i actually felt better!! And i looked cute tho. So 8/10, because it's a slow process, but worth it.
i just graduated with my bachelors degree in psychology and by god im gonna use it!! the reason the mask seemed to work at first is that humans thrive on novelty and variety. this was a new thing! it made you feel better. in quarantine, variety is hard to come by, so make it yourself! wear a stupid hat! eat dessert first! wear your wedding dress for a zoom meeting! whatever you want! creating variety WILL help your mental health!
yeah that's exactly what i was thinking, i dont have a psychology degree but im glad someone who does agrees, although i imagine there could be some correlation to wearing certain clothes that you associate with stamina also giving you more stamina in a placebo effect, like maybe wearing your workout clothes makes you have more stamina then wearing normal clothes and doing the same workout. But definitely in the case of the mask and shield it was more about the variety/novelty/silliness of it all, and also I think there was an element of challenge introduced by wearing the costume pieces in trying to do tasks while still wearing them, which i think is motivating under the right circumstances
Because of the nature of monster energy, you would end up with a steak that is broken down slightly, as the acidic nature of monster will break down proteins. Similar to pineapple, which works well as something that tenderizes and imparts flavor, but only in small doses
@@thiccboybillybob6388 Yeah that's what I expected. I suspect if you're not careful the monsternade will ruin the texture of that steak, but the premise is totally possible.
I think the real reason this didn't really work out for Brian is there one thing that he can't change about his build that doomed him from the beginning. Brian, you can't put more points into your stamina when you ever already maxed out your Charisma
Well, with that attitude anything isn't possible. There're things you find easy to do but others hate doing. And vice versa. Start small and build good habits. I recommend squats while brushing your teeth.
i love how all of these videos are just becoming brian trying to solve his own problems and realising he was going about it in entirely the wrong way and then learning valuable life lessons
AKA: Brian David Gilbert tries killing himself in an attempt to kill god and become a higher being by chugging steak rings and hemorrhaging his life for stamina
he did get ressurected at the 4th trial (0 = sleep or dead, but let's be honest he rlly lowered his life bar there) AND IF A BRIAN CAN BE RESSURECTED, THEN EITHER BRIAN IS A GOD, OR COULD KILL GOD, AND I DO NOT CARE IF THERE IS A DIFFERENCE
Genuinely, as someone who has to deal with chronic fatigue and chronic pain, the advice at the end is 100% correct. Just figuring out your limits and knowing when to rest is half the battle.
When he said that the walk maybe had something to do with his stamina increase i was expecting him to come back to the run a mile increase stamina from Red dead redemption 2.
Same!! Physically, exercise sure helps if you're able-bodied and all that. Mentally there are also claims in favor of it, but of course it may be tough to get started, and won't cure the underlying conditions. I think this was a mix of both.
@@ilovecairns5181 It's just a joke. Imagine that between those two phrases in the video (in quotes), someone is just glancing at a pile of cocaine and thinking that's what Brian's gonna say next. It's an extremely fair point, tbh
In this video, Brian drinks the amount of caffeine that I drank during finals week that almost sent me to the hospital. Not from caffeine overdose, but from the eventual crash that came later, which led to me nearly breaking my neck while attempting to, essentially, skateboard while half-comatose.
@@jedimasterpickle3 but what if BDG's max stamina was capped at around 5 or 6, and taking a walk increased the cap, thus allowing for stamina boosts to work?
I love that BDG disregarded the RDR2 method of expending stamina to gain stamina, and at the end of the day, all of his increases were based on that exact technique (walking, meetings, crafting). Another important life lesson learned from Arthur Morgan.
In each trial, he gained energy while talking to someone or preparing for the next day (doing something). Socializing and staying active DOES replenish your energy! So Red Dead was right lol
@@Kokoasz The point of the laundry chair is to carry clothes that are overall still wearable, but you'd have to take a look at and maybe smell if they're fresh enough to go back into the closet or if they should rather be washed.

Real talk: when I was being treated for depression, in addition to therapy and medication, my psychiatrist told me I had to eat protein in the afternoon to ward off the crashes and exhaustion. So there might be something to that steak thing. That said, the idea of eating nothing but well done steaks all day made me feel depressed all over again.
Protein yes, because we need the energy, but I also thing variety is really important which is why the steaks stopped being helpful so quickly. I get so burnt out if I eat the same proteins all the time.
Every Unraveled has such accurate (and usually hilarious) captions too, it's a real treat. 90% of the hard "c" sounds in the Mortal Kuddling episode were naturally replaced with "k"s, naturally xD
I always watch stuff with subtitles/captions but usually on RUclips they're so bad (auto captions) like not even close to whats being said sometimes. I'd actually like to write captions but haven't been able to find a job doing it.
I feel a little bad that BDG is basically a millennial selling the internet his various existential crises so that he can afford to pay rent. But also I can't stop watching these.
Given the alternatives. you shouldn't feel bad. Being able to do video production full time is 100% better than any other minimum wage job that's more readily available. Very very very very very few minimum wage jobs bring in more satisfaction. Usually those super rare jobs are in places with nice customers, not too busy not too quiet and with fellow employees who are fun to be around. That set of circumstances is extremely rare.
my initial reaction to this was "Brian, why would you do this to yourself?" however I now realise that this is the purest example of what must be done for science.
There's an odd feeling of kinship when BDG mentions laundry chair and you look over and at your own laundry chair, as if checking to see if it's gone anywhere. It's still there. Sitting. Waiting.
so what we've learned is that even during quarantine, Brian manages to willingly make his life harder than ours for no good reason with very little pay off
The pay off is making this video that he knows will make us happy or will at least give us a few minutes of reprieve from the world. I'd say that's huge pay off 💜
BDG: "I don't have a lot of energy since the pandemic started" also BDG: *clearly put a lot of time, effort, and energy into scripting, shooting, and editing a video*
Excercise is the epitome of "Trade Health for Stamina" though. Your body literally has to destroy old, weak muscles to replace them with new, stronk muscles. The process is slow, though at the end you get +Max HP and +Max Stamina so it's totally worth it.
Can confirm. Went from lifting 75 pounds to 150 pounds in about a month. I was being stupid and doing 100 reps a day of this. I gained 30 pounds of muscle after about 6 months and it was scary. I went from 90 pound Skeleton to toned120 pound Skeleton. Good times
Long term yes, short term no. Assuming we're dealing with a complete lazyabout person who doesn't exercise more than once in 6 months. Short term you're probably going to get a good adrenaline high just going for a walk or doing some exercise. But you're gonna feel absolutely exhausted doing any workout for more than an hour. It's a nice feeling though. Long term it stops being as much of a painful experience. I mean, unless you just endlessly increase the difficulty and length of your exercise sessions. Most normal humans don't do this because it's pointless. But if you're one of the few who do, congratulations you are a shoe in for the military.
@@Madhattersinjeans how is it pointless tho i feel way better after losing over 10 kg of fat then before. Imo exercise is one of those basic thing after personal hygiëne and nutrition
I really love Brian's ability to adapt this series to its environment, the live episode making use of audience participation and planned gaffs (namely the bit where Pat showed all of Brian's old theater pics) and here, making use of the at-home setting and the mental/physical effects of quarantine, this series really takes everything in stride
I once stayed up all night working on homework, fueled only by a single can of coca cola energy, so I can't even imagine drinking three monsters. I literally had to take single sips at a time because it would make my body vibrate.
I powered through an afternoon session of exam studying for uni on 4 half litre cans of cheap energy drink once but to be fair that was the followed by the evening that made me rethink my caffeine routine and I've calmed down quite a bit since and had periods of drinking almost no caffeine when not too busy for uni. You can certainly build up quite a tolerance to it if you keep relying on caffeine, but from experience it's better you don't, really.
One of the main reasons I wish I never did hard drugs is so I could actually notice the subtle changes from caffeine or kratom or whatever else. I should probably just get off my butt and move around a little..

the reason the mask seemed to work at first is that humans thrive on novelty and variety. this was a new thing! it made you feel better. in quarantine, variety is hard to come by, so make it yourself! wear a stupid hat! eat dessert first! wear your wedding dress for a zoom meeting! whatever you want! creating variety WILL help your mental health!

*I SHALL CRAFT A CIVILISATION OUT OF SHARPIE PENS!*
yeah that's exactly what i was thinking, i dont have a psychology degree but im glad someone who does agrees, although i imagine there could be some correlation to wearing certain clothes that you associate with stamina also giving you more stamina in a placebo effect, like maybe wearing your workout clothes makes you have more stamina then wearing normal clothes and doing the same workout. But definitely in the case of the mask and shield it was more about the variety/novelty/silliness of it all, and also I think there was an element of challenge introduced by wearing the costume pieces in trying to do tasks while still wearing them, which i think is motivating under the right circumstances
this is why impulsively buying things even though i usually never do is helping me feel better

Nah, just blend it all together. Like skyrim, more of the same effect is better, right?

@@rowandoyle7 this reminds me of that video of a guy blending Doritos and Mountain Dew while laughing maniacally

Real talk: when I was being treated for depression, in addition to therapy and medication, my psychiatrist told me I had to eat protein in the afternoon to ward off the crashes and exhaustion. So there might be something to that steak thing.

Excercise is the epitome of "Trade Health for Stamina" though. Your body literally has to destroy old, weak muscles to replace them with new, stronk muscles. The process is slow, though at the end you get +Max HP and +Max Stamina so it's totally worth it.
Stronk😂
I’m definitely using that now
you trade health for health *and* stamina

Y'all making me realize how much of a stim junkie I am. I need 3 Bangs to feel anything. Nearly a full gram of caffeine.
I’m with you. Half of a 5 hour energy gives me the shakes and keeps me awake for 12 hours
One of the main reasons I wish I never did hard drugs is so I could actually notice the subtle changes from caffeine or kratom or whatever else. I should probably just get off my butt and move around a little..
