It'd be hilarious to have it be a "home alone" game. Have everyone else leave to go play in smash and they forget waluigi, who then has to protect the mushroom kingdom from an invasion using traps and tricks. Then at the end of the game everyone comes back never having noticed waluigi wasn't there and he gets no credit.

What I love about this is how much sense it makes. In jaleousy of his brother, Luigi went so far as to invent an alter ego for himself, because Mario had Wario. He tried to give it traits that he thought were opposite to his, but ended up spilling his ambitions and desires into Waluigi's personality; he made him a cheater, because he considers himself to be righteous, but also made him skilled and hard-working, reflecting just how low his self-esteem is. The biggest tragedy, in all this, is that while trying to become more relevant by creating a rival for himself, Luigi created an *even more popular character* than he could ever be. This is why he is "not afraid"... He is only bitter, and as his eyes lay upon the creation that outgrew him, he can only think of his own weaknesses, as even his desperate attempt to be in the spotlight resulted in a failure; much like Frankenstein, Luigi is doomed to see his creation destroy his life.

wario being marios cousin and waluigi having no relation AND being made for the purpose of being warios tennis partner leads me to HC that waluigi was just some guy wario knew from his younger days and when wario explained the rivalry waluigi just fully committed to the bit of being evil to these two guys for fun
A. Seed like how Luigi can’t seem to get his alter ego out from under his nails, always clinging to his psyche despite how tormented it leaves his spirit
In reality, Brian just snuck into the office after everyone left and made this, and emailed it to Doug Bowser, and everyone else found him in the fetal position mumbling to himself
literally same i was so outraged for luigi at first until i realized where this was going, although it still isn't clear what bdg's actual opinion is on luigi, so he's still on thin ice
As an opera fan I'm just wondering how long it took Brian to find a recording of "Vesti la giubba" that doesn't, like ninety percent of them do, end with obnoxious, fake clown sobbing.
Daniel D'Angelo: In the opera Pagliacci, Canio makes his living as Pagliaccio the clown. At the end of the first act he discovers his wife Nedda is cheating on him (just before his next performance) and he sings the "Vesti la giubba" ("Put on the costume") aria you hear, the idea being him having to hide his grief in order to play a comedic role.
@@rynabuns oh is this the origin of the joke that goes like this: A man goes to the doctor to deal with his great sadness. The doctor gives the same advice to all visitors needing to be cheered up: to go visit the circus and meet Pagliacci the clown. As this clown is such a poor fool that anyone would burst into laughing at the sight of this clown. "But doctor! I am Pagliacci! "
I actually kinda like that idea not just about Waluigi being an evil alter ego, but that Luigi specifically isn't afraid of him. It implies a sort of unusual heroic quality of confidence, to not be intimidated by someone who is everything that you aren't.
The fact that Luigi was able to give a man a mental breakdown purely by existing in the victim's mind and allowing himself to manifest in the real world by using the victim's desires shows that he's the most powerful character in the Mario Cinematic Universe
A common take is that Brian is the best thing on Polygon. I say it's both: Polygon makes Brian better, and Brian makes Polygon better. They found each other and are better together.
Can we just examine the fact that he name dropped how much he loved Waluigi in his cover video for his JOB application to produce THIS show. This was a plan from the beginning
"Imagine Waluigi as a hard-nosed investigator, struggling to pick apart the pieces of who he is" now that's disco elysium and it's amazing so BDG was right once again
Waluigi goes to see his doctor. The doctor asks him what’s wrong. “I don’t know doc, life just doesn’t feel good anymore.” Waluigi says. “I don’t feel happy, I don’t party, and I certainly don’t kick well; what do I do doc?” he asks. The doctor, perplexed by the statement has the cure for this man. “I know what you need to do” says the doctor. “There’s a party happening tonight and it’s an open invitation from the great Luigi; there will be dancing, games, kicking, and fun. This party should be the cure for what ails you” the doctor finishes saying. “But doctor, you don’t understand; I AM LUIGI”.

This video is so good that I, Doug Bowser, have watched 4 million times and made over 200 thousand alternative accounts just to like it over and over again.
A Waluigi mystery game is actually a really cool idea. I remember a while back seeing fan art of Waluigi as a noir detective solving mysteries with his Toadette assistant and that always seemed like a cool idea. It would make for a unique Mario spinoff and would better define Waluigi the same way Luigi’s Mansion defined Luigi.
We learned their first interview that Pat is also the Shadow to Ben Schwartz's Sonic, so he really is the dark reflection of everyone. Which maybe means he is Waluigi.
This video just became BDG going "Stop calling me Luigi, he's dumb, and he's a coward, and I am NOT a coward!" (He's not dumb he's incredibly dedicated, informed, and talented and I aspire to be this good at speaking lol)
when I was a child I always insisted playing pretend that I wanted to be waluigi because I thought he was so cool but as a child I was also bizarrely fixated on ego/id imagery and art about internal conflicts so now I'm wondering if BDG has unraveled waluigi or if he's unraveled me
I think a good waluigi game would be a side-scrolling beat-em-up where you rob several banks throughout the mushroom kingdom It'd be called "Waluigi's big break"
That end tho, Brian would seriously be an amazing acter he’s able to portray emotion so well The true fear in his face of when he seems realize that he is Luigi the voice sounds like someone stuck in fear tinged with sadness
I've realized Waluigi isnt defined by who he is. He is defined by who he is not. Mario is Mario, the plumber hero. The spotlight. Needs no introduction because hes the arching definition of the character archetype. Luigi is the brother of Mario, the br(OTHER) Mario. The similar to the original but definitely is not, instead hes 2nd, the partner, for many younger siblings; the player 2. He is defined by his placement to Mario, which is by his side. Though, he's held his own before therefore making him his own person. Wario is Mario as a bad guy. We know Wario is 'bad Mario'. The Hero, turned villain. But maintained an identity all his own. In placement to Mario hes the mirror, an opposite, The opposition. Waliuigi is a bit more complicated as hes attached to Luigi seemingly all by his own stance. His relationship to Wario is that Mario has Luigi so Wario must have' a Luigi', as he's Mario's copy. Wario's needs Waluigi to define his own existence as Mario's copy. Waluigi is not Mario at all but very little a Luigi too. He's Wario's Luigi yes... but if Wario is the opposite of Mario while Luigi is the OTHER Mario, what makes Waluigi exactly? He seems to be the furthest from Mario's archetype and why is that? An 'opposite other', a 4th dimension Mario (A dimension we cannot perceive). An existence thats defined by the existence of the dimensions before him. Without them he does not exists. He's never had his own game for his existence cannot maintain without the presence of the other 3! He's only Waluigi because hes... Not the hero Not the brother and Not the opposite. These are the pillars the define who he is because he is not.
So you are saying that Waluigi is the fullest embodiment of the void which lurks beneath all of our consciousness into which all shall eventually descend and be consumed?
Finally someone gets it. Waluigi isnt Wario’s Other. Nor is he Luigi’s opposite. Waluigi is Mario’s Rival’s Other because Mario’s Rival needed to be complete by having an other. Everything revolves around Mario. This is why Luigi doesnt fear him nor consider him his rival. Because hes not. But its as if Waluigi was incepted with the thought of being Luigi’s rival upon creation.
Crackpot theory time, grab your tinfoil hats everyone. What if the part where he said he loves waluigi twice in his "I got a job at polygon" Video was foreshadowing this video? *What if BDG's entre tenure here at polygon had been one massive interconnected web of schemes leading up to this video?*
The entire ending bit of this may just be the best moments from this entire series, but I want to say that something about the quick flash of "weak, foolish, coward" listed under BDG truths really makes it for me.
The fact that Doug Bowser has watched this video almost 3 million times surely means something is in the works by now

wario being marios cousin and waluigi having no relation AND being made for the purpose of being warios tennis partner leads me to HC that waluigi was just some guy wario knew from his younger days and when wario explained the rivalry waluigi just fully committed to the bit of being evil to these two guys for fun
Waluigi is just a really good improv actor

As an opera fan I'm just wondering how long it took Brian to find a recording of "Vesti la giubba" that doesn't, like ninety percent of them do, end with obnoxious, fake clown sobbing.
what the *fuck* is clown sobbing
can you give me some context? why clown sobbing?
Daniel D'Angelo: In the opera Pagliacci, Canio makes his living as Pagliaccio the clown. At the end of the first act he discovers his wife Nedda is cheating on him (just before his next performance) and he sings the "Vesti la giubba" ("Put on the costume") aria you hear, the idea being him having to hide his grief in order to play a comedic role.
It sounded like the same recording they use in the Seinfeld episode where they go see that opera and Kramer is dressed as a clown
@@rynabuns oh is this the origin of the joke that goes like this:
A man goes to the doctor to deal with his great sadness. The doctor gives the same advice to all visitors needing to be cheered up: to go visit the circus and meet Pagliacci the clown. As this clown is such a poor fool that anyone would burst into laughing at the sight of this clown.
"But doctor! I am Pagliacci! "
"I'm a Luigi."
Fucking brilliant.
And upon that realisation, his purple clothes meant to represent Waluigi change to green clothes to represent Luigi
I actually kinda like that idea
not just about Waluigi being an evil alter ego, but that Luigi specifically isn't afraid of him.
It implies a sort of unusual heroic quality of confidence, to not be intimidated by someone who is everything that you aren't.
The like number is perfection
The fact that Luigi was able to give a man a mental breakdown purely by existing in the victim's mind and allowing himself to manifest in the real world by using the victim's desires shows that he's the most powerful character in the Mario Cinematic Universe

Nice, I’ve seen that idea too it is such an interesting concept
If Brian is actually Luigi, then this confirms what I have thought for a while. Patrick is actually his evil twin, Waluigi.
But The Whole video is about How waluigi and luigi is one and The same
It would make more sense for Pat to be Mario/Wario.
We learned their first interview that Pat is also the Shadow to Ben Schwartz's Sonic, so he really is the dark reflection of everyone. Which maybe means he is Waluigi.

Holy shit!!
His clothes changing from purple to green when he figures that Waluigi and Luigi are the same is a nice touch
*enters frame*
"Waluigi"
Say no more.
Not the hero
Not the brother
and Not the opposite.
These are the pillars the define who he is because he is not.
Thats deep bro
And thats why he can break the 4rth wall
So you are saying that Waluigi is the fullest embodiment of the void which lurks beneath all of our consciousness into which all shall eventually descend and be consumed?
Wat
