This is really really useful. Thinking of upgrading my 12 year d5000 to Z6ii. I have similar lenses. It’s really nice see the live focusing in low light conditions. Big thumbs up 👍🏽
Thank you, thank you, thank you, excellent video you've convinced me to buy the FTZ adapter and use older nikon lenses that I was going to sell but you've just saved me whole bunch of money... excellent, excellent video thank you very much again....
Okay, I found the spot where you said you were using the Z50. I assume the eye AF on those same lenses would be much improved if you were using the Z6II or Z7II. Thanks for the video.
From my understanding the Z50 is a mirrorless camera BUT still a crop sensor. Would these DX lenses work with something like a Z5/Z6/Z7 (full frame sensor), or will the crop lens + full frame sensor send it all out of wack? Great video by the way!
I see you tested in a Z50 which is a cropped sensor camera. However, it would have great to notice in the video as well that this FTZ adapter will take DX lenses.., However, the image will be cropped. As an example. I recently got the Z5. (For my needs, I seriously did not need to spend the extra $$ for a Z6. It just won't make the difference.). I installed the FTZ and I put the Sigma 17-50 2.8 EX DC OS HSM, which I liked a lot in the past. However, given it is a lenses designed for DX cameras, the result in a Full Frame will be a cropped image. Basically, from the original 24.3 mpx of the camera, I end up having slightly above 10 mpx. 10 mpx still look good, however, the reduction is way too much for what I was initially expecting. So, I am starting to look for nice FX lenses that do not cost too much. Also, I would like to mention here that AF won't work in all lenses DX or FX. I have a Sigma 105mm 2.8 Macro, which I love, that only works with MF. I am fine with it as most of the time I won't use AF doing macro. Still, FTZ is a good adaptor. I guess that the change is easier for those who shot in DX and continue in DX, or the ones who shot at FX and upgrade to FX camera (Z5, Z6, Z7). However, the ones who shot at DX (having thus DX lenses) and upgrading to FX camera, FTZ can be a bit disapointing because the significant cropping.
@@BVCCo7 Yeah!! this is something to check before purchasing any new lenses (FX! for no crop) for a Z mount Full Frame camera: Make sure it will be fully compatible. Third party companies have a table in their website with those details.
This is really useful. A big thank to you! I have plenty of DX lenses and am thinking of buying Nikon Z50. One question I have is about the ergonomic of using FTZ with DX lenses. How does it feel compared to DSLR? Do you think it worth it to buy Z50 and use F mount DX lenses?
Can Nikon d750 camera work with new z series lenses ftz adapter because all videos in social media can use z series camera with f mount lens ftz adapter. But my question is f mount cameras with z series lenses Can it be used through any other adapter?
I have the adapter FTZ for my Z6ii and I cannot get the dang thing to auto focus whatsoever with my old Lenses. Do I need to update a firmware or something?
Good job! Focusing is just awesome for almost all lenses. Thanks I was confused to go with sony a7iii or z6ii. I have 4 nikon lenses, what do you suggest? Does adopter comes free?
Hi, I'm trying to use the Tokina 11-16 2.8 with the z adapter but Autofocus is not working... But using the same lense in a D810 the Autofocus works fine.... What You thing could be the problem when using with the z50?.. Thanks
Would you suggest to get this if Nikon Z50 is my first camera or is the selection of lenses for the Z Mount good enough both from the variety and the affordability standpoints?
If you have the budget z lenses work best esp if you plan on upgrading to fx you can use the same lens - If you have dx lens ftz is a good budget workaround
Hello to all, what you think, if I already have a Sigma 17-50mm 2.8 (DX format), I don't need to buy z6 kit with 24-70mm f4, because I could use my Sigma (only) for video using FTZ ? And It bring me the same quality of picture in fullHD ?
probably as this z50 is an APS-C camera, lower sensor pixels, as compare the Z6/Z7 cameras, as well when he backs up, the eye-detect system transfers to FACE-recognition system AF, so AF box is bigger, less precise AF lock, contrast, etc. as compared to spot single point AF selection, so the algorithem has more say/confusion about what YOU want to focus on! (more chance of errors). Also as this video was produced in 2020 there wasn't the firmware update for it yet; just came out a few weeks ago (end APR /2021, start of May2021); this Will most likely fix any issues, esp, as Nikon has been quite quick in fixing focus issues with these new cameras.( and adding FACE/Animal AF to the cameras that didn't have it before, or improving on it's reliabillity).
I'm considering trading in my D7100 for a Z50 with the FTZ adapter, is this a good trade, I've got a nikon 28-105mm a 70-300mm lenses, a sigma 150-600mm and a tamron 10-20mm lenses, if I do trade my D7100 in will these lenses work on the Z50 Many thanks Steve Hassall
The sound on the 35mm is pretty typical of nikon’s 1.8 primes. I’m uncertain if the motor gets quieter in 1.4 - I’ve only ever used aftermarket there. My af-s 50mm 1.8 makes a ticking sound when it focuses. My Tamron 24-70 2.8 makes the same sound, but a touch quieter and deeper. My 70-200 doesn’t tick the same way for some reason, but the VC system produces a very quiet whine. It’s all pretty cool in my book, honestly. I’m a car guy, so the mechanical side of photography is super cool to me. Lens & camera noises > silent gear (providing the noise doesn’t disrupt whatever you happen to be shooting, ofc) For anyone having trouble with lens noises on video: Get a camera cage or coldshoe handle. Something you can use to mount a 15mm rod. Slap a 15mm rod to coldshoe mount on that sucker as far forward as you can without coming into frame and you’ll be golden, and you can grab all of that for pretty cheap on Amazon
I'm surprised that all bloggers only check the autofocus function. Yes, autofocus works. But more importantly, wide-angle F lenses with FTZ at the edges produce a poor image. Take one shot with Z camera and another with DSLR, and you will see a huge difference in quality. Everyone is silent about this, including Nikon.
Adapter itself is weathersealed. So, does it make a non sealed lens weather sealed? I use sigma 24-35 f2 which is not sealed but ftz is sealed. Someone do the math plase😀.
I'm at a crossroad. I have d lenses that I want to phase out only because the ftz adapter doesn't auto focus them. But I also don't mind using focus peaking. I have a adapter now from fotosay and I use that method. My problem is. I don't want to phase out my lenses If Nikon will make a adapter that will focus d lenses. Do you think they will eventually make a adapter for d lenses as well or are they completely walking away from d lenses

Wow.... Big respect for trying the sigma in dimmed room

The Z50 has a crop sensor Z5/6/7 are full frame so with F mount lenses there can be a difference when used with a crop sensor and full frame sensor.
Yes hence there's dx mode option on the full frame

Yes

Manual unless your f mount lens has a control
Peter good morning, I have a question on z50+ ftz + nikk FF 70-200 f4... Why a F F lens do not crop on aps-c camera? Thank You
It should auto crop since it's the body - if it's a z6 it will not and you will have an option of fx or dx mode(crop)
@@BVCCo7 Thank You Peter, sure, strange... on d300 it crops... On z50 it do not crops... Like it were a dx lens...

No only Nikon f mount
*Is it Z50 or Z6? How do you transfer images from the camera to the phone?*
ruclips.net/video/DcVzoYSpumY/видео.html
Use the Nikon snapbridge app to transfer to your phone, you can then share it from snapbridge or share it to messages, WhatsApp, email, FB...etc.
When you go toward the camera, AF is almost perfect. When you go away from the camera, it is losing the focus most the time.
