My Fiat Ulysse ( same engine as in video ) kept killing my ECU. Three times. The failure always occurred in the wet. Everyone I consulted said I had a faulty earth, other people said I had a corroded harness. I had my ecu tested by specialists who confirmed I had a voltage spike which was killing one of the ecu circuits , the design of which should have made it impossible. These spikes can even come from an injector fault. Within the last week, I’ve learnt that a faulty solenoid can cause this fault.
I still have my Ulysse which is now a project. Totally uneconomic if put into a garage half of whom haven’t a clue, and my mot garage consulted the main dealer, who were totally useless. When these engines run, they run well, but when they go wrong they are a disaster. To keep me mobile I bought a ZX banger and now use a 306 1.9d. which is a great car. When my Ulysse ran, I loved it. The Peugeot 806, and the Citroen Synergie are identical.

"The pre-injection function only happens < 3000 rpm" ooooh! THAT's why ! My C3 does make that distinct old-school diesel knocking noise when you accelerate a bit too enthusiastically before it's properly warmed up, I always figured there was something in the ECU that was making it give up on pre-injection beyond 2500rpm or so, and it is! Nice to be validated by Citroen themselves :D

Had couple of 406,s years ago ...one 90bhp and one 110bhp...really good engines...and pretty straight forward to service even for a novice like myself
