I like your idea about adding grip tape to the trigger shoe. I have the same one, only in red. I'm happy to hear that the Prodigy hasn't been forgotten. I have dressed my 5" up with stainless steel accents (Wilson Combat stainless pin kit, EGW stainless slide stop, thumb safety, main spring housing, and mag well. As soon as their new stainless grip safety comes off backorder I will get one of them, too.) I replaced my Wilson Combat hammer and Harrison Design True Radius sear with an Atlas Gunworks stainless ignition kit, which includes a matched hammer and sear. The EGW slide stop has a true .200 pin, which is a perfect fit in my frame, if a bit fiddly to get out and in, and combined with a #3 barrel link gives me a zero-clearance lockup without a glitchy unlock on recoil or when hand-cycling the slide.
I just got a swivel vise for my mini-mill and I plan to cut slots in my slide parallel to the front serrations to reduce the slide weight. The slide of my Ruger SR1911 Lightweight Commander 9mm, at 317gm, is 64gm (2.26oz) lighter than my Springfield 1911 A1 .45 ACP, and I can get away with a 9lb recoil spring on the Ruger, where the Prodigy doesn't chamber reliably with anything less than an 11lb spring and fails to lock open after the last round with anything more (115gr FMJ range ammo). The Prodigy slide is 387gm (with my Holosun 507c installed), so I'm thinking that I should be able to safely take 32gm off, bringing it down to 355gm and maybe giving me a little more latitude. I have a couple of cheap slides from Numrich to practice on so I can see how much damage that looks like. I may try out a Marvel cut on the disconnector rail while I'm turning parts into iron filings.
By the way, I had the rear sight fly off at the indoor range a couple of weeks ago. I looked all over and couldn't find it. I consoled myself by saying that I wanted to put on night sights anyway. Then, when I was getting ready for bed, I found it. When it flew off it ended up landing in my shirt pocket. There's probably a lesson or two there :)

Man I wish there was the ability to share pics. Would like to see it when you are all done!
The life lesson on the rear sight is don’t look for it till after you order your replacement 🤣
I took the 5” out to the range today and was doing some drills. Usually I’m hyper aware of how my trigger feels on my finger tip because of the smoothness. But with that grip tape that don’t happen today! For me, that grip tape was a home run.

Another fun quick lesson from ....Nobody. 👍 Love'em all even the short easy ones that go smoothly. I'm almost ready to buy the 4.25 .

The short easy ones are the ones that give us hope! 🤣
How long is you list of things you want to do?

Amen, The Prod is still alive! I did the same with 3M tape on my atlas trigger.

I shot my 5" prodigy comp for the 1st time today and blown away by how soft and flat shooting it is. Tac driver to me at least! My issue is today wjen i got home i put the egw magwell on it and now my dominant hand rides to high causing my thumb to engage the safety 😢 i now have to keep my thumb on top of the safety like a gas pedal

Great video, just like your whole Prodigy series! I’m a fan.
One question: can you or someone narrow this magwell’s width?
EGW is the only company thus far to make a dedicated / slip-on, no mod required magwell for the Prodigy. That’s great but the problem is they don’t make a slimmer “carry” version. Basically, one that is IDPA legal at 1 and 5/8 inches wide, or 1.625 inches.
    This EGW is 1.739 inches.
So the delta is .114 inches. Doable?
Someone on Reddit said they did their own, but I don’t have that skill set.
    Any advice?

Advise is always free! It wouldn’t be that hard of a project to do. I can think of 3 ways off the top of my head for someone to do it. And it depends on what level of tools you have.
      1. If you are fortunate enough to have a belt sander you could make short of it. Just place the magwell on the table and take half of the “bottom” wall thickness off of each side. Then file/sand to blend.
      2. If no belt sander, a file will make short work of it. You could keep the magwell attached to the grip so it’s stable and then take the material off. Even though I have a belt sander, I would lean towards this method.
      3. Last but not least is good ol’ sandpaper. Have various grits so you aren’t sanding forever. Also make sure you do it on a hard flat surface. This method would be my least preferred.
Ultimately, I think that you could do this. Don’t worry about screwing up or how it looks. Get it functional and learn from the experience. You can make it perfect the next time you do it!
I appreciate you watching and that you’ve enjoyed the series. Please keep me posted on how your project turns out

Did you ever think to blend the factory grip to the magwell so you don't have the small lip all around it? I installed the Dawson Precision magwell on both my 4.25 and 5in and im thinking of blending them both.

Yes I did notice the lip. I wanted to get out to the range and run it and see if it was going to be an issue. Ran quite a bit of drills that had reloads built into them and I didn’t have any issues today. Does that mean anything? No. Just means that today they ran. Next time I might have an issue. So blending might be worth the piece of mind.

After writing that reply, I went out and filed it down on my 4.25in. Can’t say that I feel or don’t feel it, but mag engagement hasn’t changed and doesn’t seem like any additional play.

@nokones788 the only foreseeable instance I can imagine is if you were trying to set a land spend record and your mag angle was off (like 30 degrees) enough for a non-beveled portion on the mag to get hung up on.
But honestly, I’ll end up blending it as well.
