I actually love how music sounds in 7.1 mode lol, the background vocals really come out and still separated with the main sounds.
For the non-audio people, the Hyperx Clouds (core,1,2,alpha) are a hyperx reskin of the OEM Takstar Pro 80, a pair of hyper-budget HiFi quality headphones from china for under $50, and is why they sound better than the other "gaming" headsets on the market. Same sound signature as the Beyerdynamic DT770.
Is this headset good for Minesweeper?

You're right! I'm so satisfied about these headphones. I've been listening to them also at work and was hitting them once in a while but the durability is astounding. Totally worth the money.

I just got my Hyper X Cloud 2 gaming headset and I absolutely love them!!! Like you were saying in the review, I've used them for listening to my iPod, my iPhone, iPad and using them on the computer for my flight simulator games.

I've been using this headset for a year and it's AMAZING. The audio is on point and sometimes hear I footsteps and sounds that my friends don't hear.
Just got these, and I have to say I agree with everything you said 100% man. Thank you for a great review! Highly recommend these to anyone who's looking for a great and high quality versatile headset that really doesn't break the bank(or even comes close to).

I have this headset and I got to admit it's probably the best headset I've had, To back up Jayz point, it is great for 7:1 whilst gaming, I play Escape From Tarkov, and I have to listen out for even the slightest movement at times for example someone walking on glass round a corner from me. Honestly the best buy i've made.

samconroy I use the usb that come with the headset but still this issue is here to stay.
I haven't used a splitter but only used the hyperX adapter

Does your PC recognize them as a speaker or a headset? My headset is classed as a speaker and is extremely loud also.

Just bought these and after a few days of listening here's the deal. These headphones and the usb dac sound alright if you don't compare and A/B them to anything else. Once you throw an eq on them or hook them up to a receiver you'll hear a totally different set of headphones. That USB Dac and its eq profile by itself is not sufficient to get that punchy "rumbley bass" most people here are probably looking for when it comes to "gaming headphones".
But there's a fix...
Download the "Dolby Access App" from the windows app store and within that there is an EQ which with a bit of tweaking "boost the lows and cut back 2, 4,8 and 16 khz frequencies " you can get these cans sounding very warm, punchy, clear and loud. Now with the EQ set you can also turn on Atmos and TURN OFF the hyperx 7.1 feature to really get these things sounding the way I wish they sounded out of the box.
You can also set multiple profiles and save them in dolby access which is how A/B tested and tuned these headphones. literally night and day difference.
Hope this helps someone else as annoyed by trying to find "the right" set of headphones for gaming as me.

@@maki49574 Looks great! Only thing it's missing is the smoother sounding atmos surround support. Blows the included dongles version of surround sound out of the water. EqualizerAPO would be awesome if you don't care for virtual surround and just use stereo. Also Atmos was updated to include an adjustable EQ and multiple custom profiles. I have one for surround, one for music and one set to bypass so I can see hear the difference between them.
Video #1000 on my quest to find the absolute best gaming headset for the money. I am now leaning towards regular headphones with a mod mic.

I know the pain, I had a £25 headset which isn't manufactured anymore and so far had to return two expensive headsets because the sound and mic just weren't up to scratch... somehow.

if you are playing Rainbow Six Siege, use stereo. The game's sound design in my opinion is designed for stereo. I am using Hyper X Cloud Core ( the very first hyper X) and it works fantastic for rainbow six siege.
on all other games like Doom,COD,Battlefield,i use my logitech G933 headset

I hadn't watched any of your videos before, and with this i was impressed. What i have found with most tech channels on RUclips, is that they always manage to make everything boring and are always monotone. Definitely one of the best reviews i've seen in a while everything in the video was necessary and produced in such a way that the video was enjoyable and informative at the same time.
What im trying to say is that i appreciate a good RUclipsr in this field and thank you for helping me with my decision on whether to buy this headset!

Got these for Christmas and I'm watching this review because I'm curious what people think. Holy hell these headphones are awesome! I agree, the modular aspect is amazing, though I wish the 3.5 cable was longer. Haven't tested the microphone yet, (which is partly why I watched this video) and it seems to me it's of decent quality, I'm not sure whether this or my cute little Samson Meteorite sounds better, I'll have to see later.
Overall I'm very happy with my gift, these are far more comfortable than my old, crappy Sennheiser headphones.
After using for a few years a plantronics headset (its still working), i was sesrching for a newer one. This is the best one i did ever try. Its kinda modular, has a very good sound and i can use it for my smartphone too. All for under 100$ wow!

TenthCube No, the soundcard isn't cancelling noise, even the Clould Silver Pro is advertised with a noise cancelling mic but is analog only.

YellawayHD lol, if you know some basic stuffies, you can probs remove the existing plug and put in a new one. (Pull head off, locate wires, attach wires to new head, melt, attach, melt again, done. (Melt aka heat shrink or join them together))

So I purchased these and the surround sound is pretty good, It's much better with some audio tweaking but without it is still useful and very easy to access, the mic is almost crystal clear with a test on cs-go servers, Xbox one parties, and discord calls. No problems and the pop filter works! They feel very comfortable and they sound amazing on Xbox, mobile phones/mp3, and PC alike. They weigh almost nothing and are very customizable and I would definitely recommend these for the price tag.

So this would NOT be a good all-in-one gaming headset AND microphone combo for a RUclipsr? I was considering this headset, but the microphone sounds especially bad even compared to the $30 logitech walmart headset I have now. What are your thoughts/recommendations Jay or anyone who wants to contribute?
there's no such thing as a good "all-in-one" gaming headset. There can be only good headphones with no mics, or bad headsets but with good mics. In this case, it's a good headset with bad mic (which is rare, considering all of these pricey "designed for gaming" shitty headsets with terrible audio but crystal clear mics). You can probably buy an upgrade to the HyperX mic though, as a standalone after market product that is.

Hloea Adleviade It's just ideally, It would be best to buy a good headset with a good mic. I don't necessarily have the money to go out, get a gaming headset AND buy an external mic. I have the Logitech H390 right now and I would have never thought that a $100 headset wouldn't even deliver microphone quality comparable to a $40 headset.
I myself have been using a Turtle Beach for 5+ years on PC.. And I still love it!
Edit: Also never had issues with my ears after 10+ hours of gaming.

I've had these a few months and even sleep in them as I like to listen to hypnotherapy while I sleep! originally got as a backup for my partner as his A40s were playing up but he didn't like them in comparison so I nabbed them. I love being able to watch movies in "7.1" on my pc setup and then simply switching out to my phone.

I've noticed this with my headphones. The mic on the cloud 1's sounds better than the cloud 2's in this video and I know the mic on this is better. I honestly can't trust mic tests lol

TheNerdyCanadian It is there but it has never broken or caused the wires to mess up. I have pulled and yanked (on accident) on the cord and it is still in perfect condition. Have had them for a year now and they are still running as good as the day I got em.

Bro before u buy hyperx cloud 2 ,, u should know that it may give you sometime static , and I never found permanent fix . I am still using it for 2 years. It's ok but , I think u should buy revolver hyperx it is much better , my friend bought that ,dude revolver is much better than hyperx cloud 2 . Decision is yours
