$1k quote from the dealer to do this
Exactly my case. Revolting.
I was in the same situation. The dealer charged me $1500 in September 2024.
very informative and to the point A+
Glad you liked it
Thank you so much. I saved money & time. I was in the same situation. The dealer charged me $1500 in September 2024. I spend $230 for parts and coolant. ($1,270 saved).
Thats great!
Great video, do you happen to have a video of the expansion tank being removed and replaced on the same model? Thank you!
Thank you. I do not have a video on that yet.
Nice. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Thanks for watching
Thanks for the quick video. The other one was 27 minutes long!
Glad you liked it!
Hello
Do you have to drain antifreeze out first ?
No you don’t. And it’s not preferable as it makes bleeding more difficult
When people are mentioning replacing coolant hoses after 5-10 years would you say all hoses are applicable or which would you recommend doing for a B48? Thanks
The upper radiator hose with bypass line if applicable , coolant expansion tank with cap, both hoses from expansion tank and the coolant connection hose shown in this video are the usual suspects.
Currently replacing this plastic POS on my wife’s 2018. Replaced the oil filter housing a month ago and now this. I hate this car
Lmao there’s other four cylinders with way more issues . Also it’s not that hard to work on .
Doing a tutorial in fast forward is useless.
Hey one other question. Would you always replace with another plastic unit or get a metal unit without the gasket and use rtv?
I believe there are metal ones available now which will be fine to use. Rtv isn't necessary if it is a high quality one.
what about turbo coolant leaks on 2015 bmw x4 have you worked on those?
Nice job bro, I have 2017 430i and it leaks coolant from underneath, I’m assuming it’s the part that you replaced, so my question is it the same thing for 430i? And still not sure if it’s this part or the intercooler, I will replace that part first and see
I’m going through the same check your oil filter housing check water pump/thermostat housing & check all hoses
Hey Mike, how long did this repair take you from start to finish?
Mike do you also have a video of ; cooler hose from the expansion tank to the top of the cylinder head, this is broken in my case.
No but it is a similar job. Easier actually.
Dealer quoted 3900
I have a leak, but it’s a small expansion tank. Any ideas?
It is leaking at the small expansion tank ?
BMW'S are junk, I was working on a 2020 540 with a coolant leak today SMH
I had to fix a cylinder misfire on a toyota today must be junk too.
@@Skintback27 was it a 2020 with 36,000 miles?
@uptownsamcv new toyotas aren't even lasting that long. The engines are blowing at between 10k- 29k in most. I feel lucky. My 2020 430i is at 59k with no problems.
@@mrstevejackson100I had no issues on my 2017 330i for 4 years until the coolant leak started eitherwise i still think it’s the BMW I had driven so far
Could you provide the part number?
You will have to look it up by VIN on a parts website. They are likely different PN's based off vehicle options.
Is it the same thing on the 3.0 engine!? 2017 540!?
Hi. Yes it is the same thing.
@@MikeMDsI did replace the upper radiator hose. However the 6 cylinder's plastic flange on the engine block had another hose connected to it. Plus a water temperature sensor connected on it well. It couldn't be replace without removing the intake so i didn't replace that.
part #????
There are a few different part numbers as not all are the same based off the VIN.
thats the oil temp btw
Thank you
You made my check engine light pop up by doing the bleeding how you did it 😂😂😭
Bleeding the coolant system will not cause the check engine light to come on unless the engine is overheating somehow. You may of left something unplugged. Double check all electrical connections. Let me know what the end result is. Have a good one.
after doing this car won't start . is there a way to reset.
You may of left something unplugged.
@@MikeMDs Yes ima Dork. Thanks. .
