@@TedsApex yeah my car fluctuates between 27.7 and 27.8 mpg average. With the B58 you could really bring your average up if you drive mostly on the highway but as soon as you mix in city driving it drops hard. One of the biggest questions is the quality of the aftermarket parts from IPOS. I would assume they are produced in China with some measure of quality control. B46 / B48 is totally fine but will all of these parts last for long term ownership or are people taking a risk? I'm very curious if this would work on a X3 platform as well.

This REALLY awesome! I love how detailed you are and yet the videos move along briskly with no BS. I have a question for you: while it is exposed, is there any reason you wouldn't change the charge pipe to an aftermarket aluminum one? I've had these stock plastic ones crack and come flying off on previous BMWs...seems like relatively inexpensive peace of mind with this type of upgrade. Thanks again for your awesome videos!
There is on thing I don’t understand, the b48 internal can handle only 300hp as far as I know , shouldn’t you change also the internals while upgrading the turbo? I’m confused or am I misinformed
First of all, this was a very detailed and informative video! Thank you so much for making this. This might be an ignorant question; what do you do when it comes time for a smog check? Removing the catalytic converter will surely fail smog.
The problem with these engines is that BMW used a lot of plastic the general consensus is after maybe 6 or 7 years the plastic is going to start becoming brittle. Which internal parts and external Parts should be replaced and after how many kilometers or miles?
Yeah I stopped just speeding up the footage and putting music. Feels like if flows better. I was forced to edit like that for a RUclips short and realized it could be good for long form.
Great video top to bottom. Looking forward to next one. Now that you are in california what are you plans with the Catless downpipe and non-factory ECU Tune?
Where did you get the reduction from intake to turbo? I believe it is inlet pipe (10:52 you are holding it mounted). I ordered the turbo and the instalation kit and this was not there. The stock connection is too small. Please help. So far the instalation was disaster. Definitely not a bold on mod!!!
Just think you can tune a stock *20i B48 from 183 to 250 hp without issues. With a 200 cell downpipe you can reach at least 280 hp, which is what i would like to do.
I figured it was only a matter of time till the 4 cyl would be attacked by the tuners. Did you happen to get a dyno run with the stock turbo? Curious to see what the improvement is.
FBO and stock turbo makes 260-270whp on 93 octane. Custom is around 300whp on 93 and 320-330whp on full e85. IPOS historically makes 370-390whp on 93 octane and 430-440whp on full e85 with a custom tune and supporting fuel mods
Did BMW makes changes to the b48 in the G series vs the F series? The pistons and rods are not the strongest in the b48. How’s it going to take that much power on a stock bottom end?
@@Sqwin_n20 For the record since the inception of this channel I've never deleted a comment. Some get held for review which I'll be honest I don't spend much time on but wouldn't delete a comment unless it was warranted and have never had to.
Hey man! Absolutely love this type of stuff with the b48. Something about upgrading parts on the less popular engines is really appealing to me. What are your opinions on turboing an n52? Obviously the n54 is superior when it comes to performance, but I haven’t seen anyone really make a good n52 turbo RUclips video. I personally have an n52 and would love to try it out myself.. just cuz this type of stuff keeps the engineering of these engines so interesting… ($$$$ tho haha)
Hey! Thanks, if I had a N52 and wanted more power I'd be looking into a supercharger upgrade. If you wanted to turbo it I would imagine you could probably push close to 400 whp but haven't looked much into it.
Great piece of work. Any clue if sticking with the stock downpipe will work if I don't need 500 bhp? Seem like you did not need to add a larger fuel pump to deliver the fueling

Dyno within the next couple weeks hopefully!
Woot woot 🙌
@@VehicularDIY Do you have an update yet?! Excited to see the results!
Love the editing and style of presentation, I do this too in my videos.
Yeah I stopped just speeding up the footage and putting music. Feels like if flows better. I was forced to edit like that for a RUclips short and realized it could be good for long form.
Stupid question as I am new to the BMW platform, I have a 2023 GR Supra 2.0, and would I be able to do the same?
Waiting for the tune video!
Simply amazing! You make it look so easy, which I know it's not.
Still waiting for next video. Any issues? Dyno result?
The B-series engines are the best thing that could happen to BMW in the past decade, I love how they overengineered them.
definitely looking forward to the update video.
What’s the 0-60 now? Would love to see the Dragy for it
Good stuff and thank you for the inspiration, sir. I have B48 530i that's just begging for a few upgrades. This looks like a good place to start
I figured it was only a matter of time till the 4 cyl would be attacked by the tuners. Did you happen to get a dyno run with the stock turbo? Curious to see what the improvement is.
I didn’t but from what I’ve seen they put down around 240 to 250 whp stock so they are under rated as usual.
@@VehicularDIY kinda figured that. 200hp jump on a 4 cyl is no joke tho
FBO and stock turbo makes 260-270whp on 93 octane. Custom is around 300whp on 93 and 320-330whp on full e85.
IPOS historically makes 370-390whp on 93 octane and 430-440whp on full e85 with a custom tune and supporting fuel mods
This was such a great video and installation. How much would you charge to install this on a 2018 b48 f36 430i gc?
Can't wait to see the numbers snd 0-60. 👍
Did BMW makes changes to the b48 in the G series vs the F series? The pistons and rods are not the strongest in the b48. How’s it going to take that much power on a stock bottom end?
Seems its a B48tu. Hows the engine oil consumption? There are plenty cases of burning engine oil on B48tu (D type high power).
There's a crack in the OEM turbo. Is that why you upgraded it?
B48 with 500hp? Not bad!
500whp with an im500 is possible and has been done. But musa keeps deleting my comments 😂
@@Sqwin_n20 For the record since the inception of this channel I've never deleted a comment. Some get held for review which I'll be honest I don't spend much time on but wouldn't delete a comment unless it was warranted and have never had to.
I’m in the process of doing the upgrade, however where can I get a working copy of ISTA?
@@VehicularDIYsupercharger is the way, it's easy on the N52 to just get the kit and do that, the N52 can handle 600 hp max with a good tune
As always .. tremendous work, How many mpg would you expect on this set up under normal driving?
25mpg plus in mixed driving.
Great piece of work. Any clue if sticking with the stock downpipe will work if I don't need 500 bhp? Seem like you did not need to add a larger fuel pump to deliver the fueling
Love watching a Master at work!
Whenever i feel lazy to work on my e30, i watch this video for some perspective 😂😂😂😂
bro please post tune results plsssssss
