I own Vstrom 250, I get a mileage of 37-38 kmpl in city (light traffic) and 39-41 kmpl in highways cruising at 80-100kmph on highway. Done 10k KM and cost of service is 1300 Rs to 1800Rs and once every 5000 km. Seat is comfortable for almost 300-400 km after which I could feel the pain.. might be because of my age :) ( I'm in my late 30's). So far I am happy with the purchase moving from 125cc to 250 Vstrom. I have my friend who sold his Old classic 350 for the Vstrom and he is enjoying it a lot. Hope this helps.

Great comparison. Could relate to the discussion points. After being RE fan for 10 yrs and 3 yrs with Dominor 400, I got Ktm 250 adv. Mileage 32. Took some time to get used to the engine as it's rev happy. But once there, it's quite fun. Spares though slightly expensive, attention is better atleast in chennai service centers compared to Suzuki.

Recently came from 30 days long north east ride on my vstrom sx 250 ...during this 5700 kms. Long ride on different terrain ( highways, hills and offroad as well )...i got the overall mileage of 42 kmph during the whole journey..which is amazing for a 250 cc engine.

I ride vstrom and clocked 16k plus kilometres till now. I'm really happy with the bike and it's performance. Very much comfortable for long rides. I rode around 900kms a day on it and had adv 390 for company and never felt slow as we cruising at around 100-120kmph..and another ride of around 800kms on a single day with no complaints. fuel economy is good and I'm getting 36 to 38kmpl on Highway and maximum FE I got was 43kmpl. Service cost and spares are really affordable. Previously I owned CBR 250r and just like the honda ,vstrom also feeling very much refined and reliable.
Chain sprocket is still good for another 3k kms
Rear tyre is good for another 3 to 4k kms
Front tyre I had to change because of a damage on tyre
Brake pads changed at 10k kms on front and rear at 13k kms
    Overall a good bike

@akashbohra6798 please understand that any single cylinder bike would be prone to vibrations at certain speed bands. It's the design team of the engine which plays with it according to the aims of the final product or categorisation whether the engine of the bike should be having lesser compression ration or more of it, whether the engine should be designed to be more aggressive like that of KTM or it should be more relaxed etc. Increasingly, we are expecting and extracting more and more from each drop of the fuel with increasing involvement of technology etc. There is a limit to all this, at various point of time there would be few repercussions of such enormous pressure on fuel's utilisation with ever increasing pressure regarding "efficiency". Also, the expectations of vibratory disturbances range from country to country and region to region. When people in India complained about vibrations in Triumph 400 bikes, Indian team contacted British team about it but British feedback was that the recent Triumph owners of 400 series are absolutely ok with those vibrations primarily because they were coming down from larger single cylinder bikes to the lower capacity single cylinders and hence these vibrations were absolutely OK. We tend to graduate from lower capacity bike to now larger capacity single cylinders. Hence, cool down, get adjusted!

    My Review -
I own v strom and in terms of mileage, I usually get 38-40 in cities and in heavy traffic it can go down at 35-36 depending on each riding style. On highways i usually get 43-45 on 70-80 kmph , you can even get 50 kmpl on lower speeds , riding beyond on 100 kmph, the mileage drops as expected. In terms of durability and quality, all the components in v strom are top notch and service costs don’t go beyond 800-1000 rupees. The best part is even on 120-130 , i never felt any vibrations or buzz , in-fact engine gets smoother on higher speed and control is beautiful, feel more confident. You can ride on 100-110 all day long , no tiredness , after every 100-150 kms usually i take a small break which is of course important to relax muscles 💪
Coming to suspension, i guess its important to be little stiff , maybe this is how it is engineered to have better control on higher speeds , and i am with you bear with the looks of v strom , it nails it in this segment , it has amazing road presence, infact i fall in love every day with my v strom 250 whenever i see it , btw thank you guys for comparing both 250 bikes , always eager for your videos 😊

And the first vstrom i saw closely, sat or rode was my vstrom. And the experience was just awesome. And the 1st ADV i rode is Vstrom. Everyone was against my decision when i booked it. But i don't know, somehow i loved it. And i was not wrong. It gives me 46+ mileage, The ride is so good. The Smooth exhaust note when the speed rising from 80 is superb. And i also did some off-road. Other than suspension, everything is fine.

Loved the Bisibele bath Vs Curd Rice comment 😂. But the Vstrom is not just a curd rice; more like a tadke wala curd rice ( bakala bath maybe) with some trappings of spice 🌶 . And any which way, one always winds up with curd rice here.

    Hi There, I own v-storm 250.
    * I got them serviced twice for 1.3k and its giving me 38-41 kmpl from day 1!
    * It has very strong road grip and gives you confidence to drive in highways.
    * Seating poster is where I felt little awkward in this bike but after adding the handle bar raisers I felt ok for long touring roads!
    * This bike suits for taller riders, short riders please think twice before deciding this vehicle, btw I am 5.8ft.
    * This is more suitable for highway touring roads, not for off-road touring.
    * I never felt comfortable riding this vehicle in heavy/busy road city traffic roads/ slow moving traffic roads-because of height issues.

I can feel some heats from my 10 year old hero igniter.
When it comes to mileage there is a huge gap, v storm returns 42-44 on highway where as duke only returns me 30-32.

Fellow Vstrom rider here, clocked >15k km over the year. Nimble for the city, powerful for the highway.
Have faced few issues personally viz.
    - OEM brake pads die very fast!
    - Spare parts (handle guard) out of stock most of the times. Essential parts are available like spark plug, filters, etc.
    - Adding metal top box affects handling and resulting in handle wobbling. For a touring vehicle i felt this should have been taken care of.
    - Intrusive abs, kicks in during the micro humps on the highways
    - Stiff suspension during offroading
    - Heavy Clutch

Again, a very good review about bikes. Right, the KTM looks more mature, aggressive and is a demanding motorcycle (be alert in driving it) while the V-Strom is a cheaper, simpler, smoother 250cc with a name and good looks. People having a KTM said that : the bike gives more fun but you need to be at the right gear/speed, it's heavier, heats up more, and drinks more petrol. You are right, for commuting and ballads Better choose the Suzuki. Yes, none of them are Adv. bikes but you can ride on dirty tracks at lower speed and not all day, but who does it ? A question arises: the price. interesting to see what will happen to the 250cc segment. These foreign companies are not ready to build smaller bikes. They build bigger bikes and get more money. But they have to wait here, India has its own pace. The 400cc is priced lower in this sense: attract people to ride bigger bikes.

Interesting, I am 55 years old, grew up in USA, use to consider 600cc as small. I now live in Indonesia and have CRF150L, CB150X (adv style local bike), Honda Rally 300 and the Hunter 350 and a CFmoto Papio 125 mini bike. I do not understand the opening, how are these bikes not ADV? My Rally I would call dirt oriented ADV, these two are what I would consider an ADV bikes. I now am a big fan of light, lower displacement bikes. This Suzuki sounds like a great replacement for my CB150X (actually my favorite bike). I want that lower RPM torque, oil cooling reminds me of my 88 GSX-R750 from a long time ago, it should add to the reliability of the bike. I am not big on technology, but that instrument cluster on the Suzuki looks terrible, big gap on left side........I would have to look at that all the time. Thx for good vid.

do you travel there every day ? alone or with pillion or heavy loads ? For every day, a lighter bike is best for mountains (easy to handle, less fuel). KTM is a nervous bike, if you accelerate too much entering the pin/curve you'll crash. The bike heats more on mountain roads (means more fuel too). Less touring équipements on KTM.

The suspension setup is rubbish & hence it returns feedback against every minor undulation on the road. However, the engine is a pure gem. You won't get tired riding the bike throughout the day.

With full respect to the reviewers they missed the point completely. V strom (which I own) is a city bike. The low end is amazing and it is an absolute joy in the city and on the highways. It’s for an older crowd to be honest. Ones who don’t do top end speeds or rev the hell out of the engine, although it is a rev happy engine. Vstrom seats are damn good for really long tours. It’s brilliant.
What the vstrom isn’t is an adventure. It has the costume, but it’s shit Offroad. And I’m a guy who does decent off-roading. I knew this going for the bike mind you. You can’t for the love of god stand up and ride. It’s all sorts of awkward. It’s suspension travel is a joke. I have bottomed out the front on city potholes. It’s that poor.
The KTM is a proper adventure. It can handle the poor roads and no roads with absolute ease. It’s performance is however in the top end so it demands correct gears and a bit of an eager riding style. In short the two are oriented towards two crowds. If you are an older guy wanting a bit of looks but none of the capability of an off-road machine then vstrom it is. Easier to live with by a mile. If you want an adventure you go for the KTM390x. For a bit more money you get a lot more bike. KTM 250 adventure is for people who NEED a KTM but can’t afford the 390.

The 400X and H450 are quite different in size and behaviour. Both can exist in a garage together. Test ride them to know more. And choose depending on what's important to you. Commuting and B & C roads traveling or touring and exploring long and far.

I really want to give a genuine feedback. I found it very annoying when u kept referring THIS and THAT, It would be good if u can mention the respective bike names, I was doing some work and I just wanted to listen to the audio, but u guys made is really hard. Please mention bike names in future.

    I own the Vstrom -
In city traffic I get close to 30kmpl
In highway sprited riding again 30 kmpl. Sedate riding givea close to 38 kmpl.
Just did a 650km ride today. It is an awesome highway tourer!

      How about bit of off-roading?

For me after 12k I am getting alot better mileage. Around 36kmpl in city and 41-42 kmpl on highway.
On the point of off-roading, I cant say it gives you a good confidence but it can do some soft road or badly paved roads easily.

      Brother what 30😂😂😂😂😂
I get 37-38 in bangalore traffic, where are you even driving the bike to get 30kmpl bruh. I can just imagine how you ride your bike or may be some issue with the engine. I travel from EC2 to manyata tech park still got 37-38.
      Check your engine oil.
