I clean by bike on sunday mornings after waking up and during the cleaning i always listen to one of the motor inc discussions. Listening to motorinc is slowly becoming a lifestyle for me. And the long discussions actually works well for me.
😅The problem is when shumi explain about how he enjoys KTM BIKES WOULD like to own one thats the way he details it like food vloggers explain about the food that they are having he explaines each and every minute flavours ❤thats what makes this video magical . Thank you 🙏🏻 Karthikeya my brother your summary will get 8 out of 10 😊
39:30- Yes like Shumi said, we want both of their thoughts about HONDA Bikes spread over both their normal & bigwing showrooms.. Please have a conversation, video, podcast anything.. & Not only for Honda, for every other bike manufacturing company too.. We want to know your thoughts on where the manufacturers stand & how they fair as of 2024...
It seemed like you two were having a lot more fun chatting about in this ep. More interactions that allowed us to see the sort of friendly banter that you guys have. Really nice video. It's always nice to see two very experienced riders talk about bikes that should (I think) normally feel underpowered to them, like they're kids just having watched Dhoom movies or something.
Hey Shumi and Kartikeya, I am an absolute fan of this format. Never thought that a conversation between two people could be so engaging in a video format. I may be making a bold statement, but MotorInc has created something that could give an existential crisis to podcasts. The knowledge and experience that you both have just makes this format more enjoyable. Be it 30 minutes or over an hour, I am genuinely excited to watch the videos you come up with. And, to build on that point, I would suggest a new format, where you just discuss the best ways to ride a bike (in terms of the best rev range the best gearing, etc). I have always learned how to milk the most out of a bike by riding it time and again, but listening to you makes me feel that if this information is made available, it will help many inexperienced riders enjoy their purchase much more and much faster.
Completely agree, I was a complete noob when I bought my first bike and couldn't extract the full performance for so many years. Only after I started watching more info videos on bikes I got know how to extract the full potential of my bike and that moment felt like nirvana. So an episode of educating new riders on how to optimally ride their bikes will be such a treat
The CBR250R was without faults. Without Faults. And, I got it really early; May 2011. Again, No Faults. Been riding for 35 years, started on the Yezdi 250 CL - II. I have a Bonneville A3 now, got it in 2015, and a really old Apache 180, 2009. Both are riding good. Tempted by the Duke 250, now. And, that was a Top Notch presentation; thank you. 🙏🏼
Thank you guys for the video.. I love my Duke 250 of 2021. The calm nature saved me when I was transitioning from my Gixxer SF. Right now its like she reads my mind on the road and we are in sync all the time. The newer ones are even better it seems and Bravo to KTM for that..
Because Shumi and karthik is blend of Journalism/Motorism/DNA expresses the spontaneous delivery of the Facts . Because as shumi has the badge on his shirt , Speaking truth is the Most Powerful and Easy enough 🤝
Masterpiece from Mattighofen: Owner of the last available batch. May 2023 KTM 250 Duke, Ebony Black. 1. Amazing suspension. 10/10 Superb would be an understatement. 2. Excellent ABS. 3. Beautiful exhaust note. Great and very reliable engine and exhaust. Brilliant electronics. 4. Top notch build quality. You see it in person and you will be blown away! (if it's a clean bike) 5. The 250 is such an amazing engine for the duality it offers. It can be super snappy / agile or very relaxed! A gem of an engine. Refined for sure. It is both a cruiser and a sports bike! 6. Great brakes. The front brake is brilliant. 9.5/10 (better pads can help!) AMAZING!
@motorinc I was just wondering if by any chance you confused the 300R with the 300F. I personally have the 300F and I'm very happy with it having done almost 22k km in 8.5 months, but I do know that there have been a lot of reviews where they mention it as a dull bike. But almost every review I've seen mentions that the 300R is an absolute pocket rocket. So would be great if you can just clarify that
This happens everytime! I'm like Karthikeya, I know that Shumi is right but still wanna be excited for Linear (Shumi Graph) Bikes which can do anything (dynamic)😊 when I demand.
Whoa @Shumi aka Guruji... That "Honda" truth was brutal, but bang on... A lot of coulda woulda shoulda surrounding the Honda products still.. It's like what Singhee Sahab said, they enter the segment unsure what to deliver and whom to compete...
I experienced one of my longest rides in Meghalaya on a Duke 250, and absolutely fell in love with it. The one little grouse back then was the LCD unit from the Duke 200 (Orange colored). It feels bizarre that even to this day Bajaj and KTN take the call to not give the best Duke the best screen. I would happily pay a premium for the color TFT. It is not a feature why anyone would jump from the 250 to the 390 (since they are quite different in character and capability) but it would make a big difference to the rider who is looking at it every single day!
Hi as you adviced that dont buy the bike from 1st batch wait till june. But lets say i have to get bike by the end of this month either 250 duke or vitpilen 250 so should i wait more or is it fine to buy one now
Okay, i just found this channel, always been a fan of shumi regarding everything that riding encapsulates, and im so happy that yall are making such detailed videos on motorcycles, unlike our everyday cars, our interaction with motorcycles are far more intricate and a millimeter here or there might make a huge difference in how you experience a motorcycle and only an experienced rider like shumi who lives and breathes motorcycles can do it this well. So, among the sea of motovloggers and big media reviews (which feel so incomprehensive in thier rundown), this will be my only goto channel from now on. I dont even need to be in the market for a machine, how yall break it down in fun enough to watch. So Thank you guys, really appreciate it. TOP CONTENT.
It always gives a smile when I'm unable to put into words the sense of what the bike gives me but then Shumi comes into play and says this happened because of this, this feels like this because of this and it perfectly matches with what I have experienced when I ride a certain bike is amazing. the little things like the wheelbase is so short and the front tire is right underneath you and it feels quick(this is exactly what I felt when I rode the old Duke 250 but couldn't put it into words for how quick it can steer) This happens to me with most of the bikes I have ridden and the sense of what it means when Shumi puts it in words. In this aspect I would love to see ur experiences and thoughts on every manufacturer (got curious when u said to leave a comment for Honda).
Whats the more comfortable highway cruiser between the d250 and the speed 400 between 100-120kmph? Speeds beyond that are not that important and the primary use for the bike would be daily commute of around 50km on narrow b and village roads with little traffic
I guess Shumi was about to talk about the mileage but then the conversation moved to another topic. So what do you think how much would be the mileage and range with the increased tank capacity?? Anyhow, I feel you guys covered everything especially for the confusion between who should be looking to get a 250 or 390. I have been thinking of upgrading from a Gixxer SF 2015 model for quite sometime, so I am always confused between a 250 and 390 but this video made it very clear for me now. Thank you.
Mileage depends on how you ride it. I get 27 or so from my 2019 250. I know people who get 33. Basically I can’t help revving it, so the mileage suffers.
It is always advisable to get a test ride of both the bikes. They are different in character and the one which resonates with you more, consider that as final.
Hey Shumi What is the difference between SOHC engine and DOHC engine with respect to performance? No theory please I know it. But don't know how it translates to performance.
Waiting to see what Husqvarna 250s can do with this chassis and engine. The current Vitpilen is a Gem (Much needed RC250 in disguise IMO) . I am Trying to get the 390's suspension to fit in on the Vitplen TOO XD.
Svarpilen 250 owner 25,000 km done in 3 years Brakes upgraded Lots of weight here and there reduced Michelin road 5 installed Vitpilen clipons installed I too am looking for the new 390’s suspension upgrade. I also did some digging to get even better stopping performance. Shall we connect and share notes ?
@@motorinc grrr seriously, what are you guys waiting for ? 😅 I like sam manekshaw but I waited for your review videos more eagerly than the movie. Overwork for few days, can chill later. (I know easy for me to say, but you guys will have your reasons😁)
Really appreciate your effort @motorinc for this review👍, but I would really like you to compare CB300r vs 250 Duke, as they are nearly the same price and specs😅
Time flies while listening to you folks talk about bikes! Being an RE owner for close to a decade, I finally let it go, because it just didn't make sense anymore in terms of reliability, performance and maintenance. I have had my eyes on 250 ADV for a year now. This upgrade to the Duke 250 looks great. Any chance the upgrades will be transferred to 250 ADV as well?
Planning to buy Duke 250 & was waiting for exactly this video. 😁 It's been a wonderful conversation, all of my questions have been answered especially Shumi's advice don't be in hurry & until 1st batch is cleared. Thanks a lot.....! ❤
I don't have money to buy right now and am still watching anything and everything as much as possible on KTM 250 and watched this episode and what a wholesome view. I hope I will wait for some batches to pass.
Neatly done as usual, I don't know why youtube doesn't recommend this on my homepage neither was I able to find the video in the channel nor the subscription part. Now these are the small requests that I have, 1. What kind of bikes should the new riders look for, I myself haven't owned any bikes but have ridden my brother's pulsar 220f and ns200, my friends re hunter and meteor, tvs raider and splendor of course, but the confusion is what type of rider am I is still a question, I liked all bikes I've ridden, but still it's always a question, so it would be better if u guys can give an idea like buy something ride for somedays figure out change the bike😂 2. How to test ride, like what are the things we have to try while test riding the bike! It is simple but it is the key enabler of buying a bike, so what are all the aspects we should look for? [ Oh yeah forgot to add, these summary ,keep them coming]
I think you guys should defintely get some time on the cb300r. It is a hoot. It is a very light bike, refined throughout the rev range. Properly quick, darts through traffic. Compact surprise.
With KTM, Triumph and others introducing powerful and lightweight bikes. Is it a wise choice to ditch the heavier RE’s for long rides? Do advice please.
Hey Arnab, both kinds of bikes have distinctly different feel and pros/cons. We'd suggest you get a test ride to get a sense of the difference in flavour and see if it suits your taste/preference
This podcast is so damn perfect that I am crystal clear that this is the bike I am looking for. I recently rented the Pulsar N160 and rode it for almost 400 kms and loved the torque and its city friendliness so much that I was planning to get the N250. But after seeing this podcast, I think this KTM matches more to what I want. My life would be miserable if I got this as it is way above my budget but I believe it will be worth the misery. Will take a test ride sometime next year.
Would Duke 250 be a great first bike for someone who's ridden a activa for 7 years and mostly been a manual car driver ( Ertiga) ? Do you think going for a 390 would be better due to the car experience ?
THANKS GUYS!! IT WAS GREAT!! (capitalization so that Shumi can read the comment.😜) . Kartikey summarized the bike pretty well, can't really point anything out. Solid Job!👍9/10 (Even the best of us have room for improvement.) . And we desperately need a discussion on the Honda situation in the CB 350 First. Great Work Everyone.👍
Ques.1 What is your take on the 250 ADV? Or the whole ADV lineup from KTM? Can't help but wonder, that something feels off about those. Comments on that.
Hey! Please do see the MotorInc First on the KTM 390 Adventure (might be Ep 01). We did discuss in detail our worries and the opportunity for the KTM Adventure line in that. Glad you enjoyed this episode Akaal!
I don't know if you guys have noticed this or not in new duke 390s, if you haven't, please do try, when I rode duke 390 yesterday, I did not feel anything different with the vibration compared to old generation contrast to what I felt when tested a month back. maybe there is better refinement with each service or something, can't say. and my friend had the same opinion, So it is just not me, however we tested with same bike.
24:00 absolutely agree with shumi and kartik and that is what i was thinking all about ever since i saw 250 and 390. Strongly feel 390’s tank shrouds are unnecessarily elongated the clean compact and sorted design of the 250 is what captivate me. 390’s engine and 250’s body would work right for me.
A twelve minute review video is getting bore nowadays. But you two guys are delivering a full worth 40 minute video which I can't even skip a bit 😂❤ btw make a video on the Apache RTR 310 please.
Just took a visit to ktm showroom to check out Duke 250 but left also impressed by the Vitpilen 250. What would be the better bike in terms of comfort and just take anywhere everyday use?
Thanks @motorinc for this video. Karti's summary gets a 10/10, it was spot on. I think it's the more civilized, gentlemanly one out of the trio till you poke it and when you do so, it will roll up its sleeves and will get to business real quick. I assume the adventure variant is around the corner, which means the present changes would make it an even better option for the price it's asking. Cheers!
Today i have ridden a motorcycle for the first time.. A glamour 125. But i really want to buy a duke 250 as my first learners bike.. Is it a good idea?
How will I know, if Duke 250 has stabilized now? I mean- my dealer might sell me an older batch’s bike? Anyway to track if from now on the batches are the most stable ? I know waiting till July is what you recommend, But how to know that batch from now will have most stable things?
10:30 onwards, just watch for a min, see how much shumi enjoys this bike.. !!! thats true feeling of how the bike feels. and see how much he enjoys telling us about this riding experience.
What Shumi said about not going out to buy the first bike and to wait awhile is so spot on. 👍🏼Having owned 10 bikes over the last decade from the Hero Puch to the 1st gen KTM 390, have learnt to wait till companies have a good product before running to the showroom to buy one.
@motorinc I don't know if you guys get this a lot... But please do a long conversation about the Honda CB300R. Its always intrigued me as a product and now that Honda has adjusted its pricing, it appears to be probably the best naked motorcycle for me and probably the best Honda product in India right now. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this machine and I'm sure I'm not alone.
38:47 I rode the CB300R for 15 km in a mixture of conditions and Kartikeya sums it up beautifully. Excellent city bike, doesn’t heat and is smooth but not a highway bike for sure. Feels overpriced and unreliable due to some quality issues that are still going on, unavailibilty of parts etc
As others have said in this thread and elsewhere, the banter, really the provocativeness of Shumi combined with the ease of Karthi, is what makes their videos work. Every creator provides knowledge. They provide information with an obnoxious aggressive personality that plays well on RUclips. You need an aggressor and you need a calming agent. That's why people like me from a distance love watching them.
Hi Shumi. Hope you're well, been loving your new look and this amazing new channel. I'm facing a very odd issue with my 2022 Duke 250 that no matter what SC I'm taking it to, is unable to figure it out. I'm posting this in this comments section here, hoping to hear your expert opinion on my problem. I was staying in Hyderabad at the time of purchase(2022), and the 250 was a beast, both in the city and on the highways on long rides. Last year, I moved to Bengaluru and that was the beginning of my bad experiences on the Duke in terms of ride quality. An insurmountable amount of potholes, speed breakers and bad roads in general exposed the characteristics of this motorcycle that I don't enjoy, at all. The ride is way too bumpy, which I am ready to accept given the not so soft suspension on the Duke, but with every bump something in the bike rattles. I've been to the KTM service countless times with this issue, all them saying its the chain that gets loose and hits the chain guard on every bump, hence the rattling sound. Even with a tight chain, it doesn't go away and neither I nor the service folks have been able to exactly figure it out. Adding to it the low ground clearance, its a headache on Bengaluru roads. Now I'm contemplating my options here. I love the engine on this beast, its so fun to just rip it open on the highway, but practically the ride experience is borderline awful for my preference. Is there any way I can fix it? Is there something that I'm missing? Will changing the tyres or the suspension solve the overall bad ride quality issue here and will it be worth? I'm ready to live with the low ground clearance in that case. Or do I sell it off to someone who'd actually enjoy it and get an ADV?
Just a question regarding the "output vs effort" graph; aren't the axis parameters supposed to be reversed i.e. the x-axis denoting the "effort" and the y-axis denoting the "output" and not the other way around? Correct me if I am wrong. P.S. An appreciator since the inception of this channel.
Shumi Sir, does the new Duke 250 with TFT display makes more sense than a NS400 Z, for daily urban commutes and weekend power rides?? I watched both episodes back to back and am a bit confused between both..
Hi Shumi! Any recommendations for a newbie 6'4 rider looking for his first bike? I have prebooked the himalayan but the delivery date seems to be around February. Any good alternatives except the Adv390s for a newcomer?
In your opinion which will be best for long term r15m vs duke 200 in our city both these bikes are in same price And aslo i want reliable engine for long term
The philosophy discussion of motorinc videos are perfect. We feel like we are included into their conversation and the discussion is having in my living room.
Shumi going into talking about honda as brand made me wanna listen to you guys talk about brands of motorcycles at length and their india vs international aspects. would be so intresting
Shumi is right. I should've listened and waited for the later batches. I had my engine oil leak out on a 120km ride because the O-ring broke on my Scrambler 400X. Triumph replaced it under warranty, but my bike sat in the shop for a week
I have changed duke gen 3 display with duke 250 Results are 1)Back tyre: abs wont work 2) Front tyre: abs works 3)MTC option not available on duke 250 4)quick shifter works Conclusion - don't install duke 390 tft display on duke 250
I had the 1st gen Duke 390. Regarding heat radiation, I never cared - it was expected. Plus, Bajaj did a field change, where the radiator fan reversed direction when the bike was below a certain speed. Pretty effective technique.....not sure if the new Dukes use this technique.
The only missing thing is the fuel economy. Clicked my tongue when Karthikeya interrupted Shumi while he is about to speak on fuel economy. Else Everything is up to the benchmark and I am rally enjoying your longer videos than the shorter one.
When it will be a safe purchase ..is it safe to buy this bike in july this year.. considering the conversation regarding avoiding the 1st batch .... And also will it tour more than 300-400 kms ?
It does but reliability of the engine is more related to how well it is engineered rather than the other factors because there's royal Enfield with lower compression ratio but still having unreliable engines and also most of the companies are good enough in engineering that they can make a reliable high compression ratio engines, exceptions are there for sure
You need to run XP95 fuel if its higheror equal to 12. And such engines are stressed engine so its better to wait for couple of years if the engine is new in the market, to see if there are any reliability issues and if the company has fixed them.
I own a 2021 duke250, and completely agree with the linear delivery for a guy that rode the mini pulsar for 10yrs, even d250 is scary, but it does amazing in city rides where I happily tractor on higher gears at lower speed, it is happy above 3500rpm at any gear, and on highways easy 6500rpm shows 80-90kmph.. I do plan to take it to track someday and see how it feels.. Only 1 question - what is the top speed of gen2, I did manage about 142kmph but I am 85kgs and feel a lighter ride can push it to 150 and how different is it in gen3?
I am still surprised how two guys sitting in a studio without any vehicle present physically and doing first impression is more engaging then others doing it with the physical bike and riding on road ❤️
😁

I think Bajaj gained much more expertise with their KTM partnership than what TVS got with their BMW one.

Yeah the Simplified series did by Shumi was Amazing.
I clean by bike on sunday mornings after waking up and during the cleaning i always listen to one of the motor inc discussions. Listening to motorinc is slowly becoming a lifestyle for me. And the long discussions actually works well for me.
Oh man! Thanks so much for sharing that with us!
😅The problem is when shumi explain about how he enjoys KTM BIKES WOULD like to own one thats the way he details it like food vloggers explain about the food that they are having he explaines each and every minute flavours ❤thats what makes this video magical .
Thank you 🙏🏻
Karthikeya my brother your summary will get 8 out of 10 😊
39:30- Yes like Shumi said, we want both of their thoughts about HONDA Bikes spread over both their normal & bigwing showrooms..
Please have a conversation, video, podcast anything..
& Not only for Honda, for every other bike manufacturing company too..
We want to know your thoughts on where the manufacturers stand & how they fair as of 2024...
Yes exactly.
Suggested noted Swagat! Thanks!
Thanks ADV8!
@@motorinc it makes the viewers feel closer and a part of the experience
I like the friendly banter too. It makes for fun viewing. From a distance only though. Haha.
Great suggestion! Thanks Kartik!
Thank you @mathewcheruvathoor4693!
How is it 35 years if u bought it in 2011
Shumi is the face of Indian motorcycle patriotism. He always calls the Japanese out over their treatment of our riders and market 😂
Thank you guys for the video.. I love my Duke 250 of 2021. The calm nature saved me when I was transitioning from my Gixxer SF. Right now its like she reads my mind on the road and we are in sync all the time. The newer ones are even better it seems and Bravo to KTM for that..
Better explained than the Austrian guys... Hell yeah 👍👍
What a comprehensive practical review.
Well done @motorinc 👍
Thank you!

Masterpiece from Mattighofen:
Owner of the last available batch. May 2023 KTM 250 Duke, Ebony Black.
1. Amazing suspension. 10/10 Superb would be an understatement.
2. Excellent ABS.
3. Beautiful exhaust note. Great and very reliable engine and exhaust. Brilliant electronics.
4. Top notch build quality. You see it in person and you will be blown away! (if it's a clean bike)
42 to 55 kmpl on highway? are those figures even true?
Great video. But I am interested in the unfinished talk about the CB300R. Would you mind reviewing that?
We don't mind. But Honda's been very stingy with their test bikes so far 🤷🏽♂️

@13:48 you might wanna recheck the variables. From what Shumi is saying, looks like it should be output vs effort, not the other way.
It always gives a smile when I'm unable to put into words the sense of what the bike gives me but then Shumi comes into play and says this happened because of this, this feels like this because of this and it perfectly matches with what I have experienced when I ride a certain bike is amazing. the little things like the wheelbase is so short and the front tire is right underneath you and it feels quick(this is exactly what I felt when I rode the old Duke 250 but couldn't put it into words for how quick it can steer)
This happens to me with most of the bikes I have ridden and the sense of what it means when Shumi puts it in words. In this aspect I would love to see ur experiences and thoughts on every manufacturer (got curious when u said to leave a comment for Honda).
Glad to have you on the same page, RK!
Hey Shumi
What is the difference between SOHC engine and DOHC engine with respect to performance?
No theory please I know it. But don't know how it translates to performance.
It doesn't make a big difference in the context of the 250 Duke. It's always had a reasonable even spread of performance and it still does.
Waiting to see what Husqvarna 250s can do with this chassis and engine. The current Vitpilen is a Gem (Much needed RC250 in disguise IMO) . I am Trying to get the 390's suspension to fit in on the Vitplen TOO XD.

Neatly done as usual, I don't know why youtube doesn't recommend this on my homepage neither was I able to find the video in the channel nor the subscription part.
Now these are the small requests that I have,
1. What kind of bikes should the new riders look for, I myself haven't owned any bikes but have ridden my brother's pulsar 220f and ns200, my friends re hunter and meteor, tvs raider and splendor of course, but the confusion is what type of rider am I is still a question, I liked all bikes I've ridden, but still it's always a question, so it would be better if u guys can give an idea like buy something ride for somedays figure out change the bike😂
2. How to test ride, like what are the things we have to try while test riding the bike! It is simple but it is the key enabler of buying a bike, so what are all the aspects we should look for?
[ Oh yeah forgot to add, these summary ,keep them coming]
Solved!
Yes the color tft of the duke 390 gen 3 will fit in the duke 250 gen 3 seems lessly...
Man I never listened my class that attentively 🤷🏻♂️
Why are u guys not talking about duke 200?

24:00 absolutely agree with shumi and kartik and that is what i was thinking all about ever since i saw 250 and 390. Strongly feel 390’s tank shrouds are unnecessarily elongated the clean compact and sorted design of the 250 is what captivate me. 390’s engine and 250’s body would work right for me.

Cheers!

What Shumi said about not going out to buy the first bike and to wait awhile is so spot on. 👍🏼Having owned 10 bikes over the last decade from the Hero Puch to the 1st gen KTM 390, have learnt to wait till companies have a good product before running to the showroom to buy one.
Please please please do the ADV 250 (if and when the new iteration comes along).
Just go to our friends at Indimotard near Hoodi Circle and have them take a look first?
Just a question regarding the "output vs effort" graph; aren't the axis parameters supposed to be reversed i.e. the x-axis denoting the "effort" and the y-axis denoting the "output" and not the other way around? Correct me if I am wrong.
P.S. An appreciator since the inception of this channel.
Hey Debasis! It doesn't matter really. That graph and its implications don't really change if you switch axes
Can we expect this analysis from you guys for the CB300R, R3, MT03 and RS457?
Is it too much to ask?🥹

Should we wait for the Vitpilen 250 as its riding position makes it more fun to ride.
It's probably gonna change for the worst for 2024.
I had the 1st gen Duke 390. Regarding heat radiation, I never cared - it was expected. Plus, Bajaj did a field change, where the radiator fan reversed direction when the bike was below a certain speed. Pretty effective technique.....not sure if the new Dukes use this technique.

Whats better the adventure 250 or duke 250 for occasional touring?
Hey Shumi
Does the compression ratio makes any difference to the reliability of the engine?
It does but reliability of the engine is more related to how well it is engineered rather than the other factors because there's royal Enfield with lower compression ratio but still having unreliable engines and also most of the companies are good enough in engineering that they can make a reliable high compression ratio engines, exceptions are there for sure
You need to run XP95 fuel if its higheror equal to 12. And such engines are stressed engine so its better to wait for couple of years if the engine is new in the market, to see if there are any reliability issues and if the company has fixed them.
What is your opinion on triumph speed 400 compared to Duke 250
