We have Raptor and we use it for some offroad drive, overland and also for filming it. Actually, I think comparing that cars is good idea as both are like big toys: purpose is to deliver lot of fun to the user. Our Raptor is delivering it for sure :)
I love seeing that suspension articulate on Jeep. It's a joy to watch. Mountain 🐐 goat
As a ford guy and overall general car enthusiast, it is a tad insane how much they’re charging for the new rangers.
I'm glad they had the balls to declared a winner. I'm tired of the "which one do you think better? tell us in the comments."
What a surprise, the Aussie's chose the Ford . I didn't even have to watch the video , to see that coming.
Raptor more versatile. Wrangler beast of the technical terrain.
They spoke no lies.
If you want to go fast in the desert and/or need a truck get raptor. Tight trails and rocks in your area get jeep.
And now there's the jeep gladiator mojave for fast desert offroading
Or a horse. Real horse
where I live there are no deserts or rocks, there are narrow streets and parking places in the city and tight paths in the forrests and bad weather conditions in autumn and winter, so all I need is a reliable Suzuki Jimny which offers me enough loading space because I don`t need back seats, so I would expand them anyway and with the money I save I can enjoy my life more
@Mr. Cairo love my LX, but she's a bit fat on some trails compared to a Jeep. That Bronco though !!
if you want a trail rig get an old jeep, 90% of the time your not gonna be on a goat trail. saw another review where the guy had a jeep and it was falling apart after awhile so they got a ranger raptor and it was holding up great after 50k of tough driving.
Let me get this straight, you are testing two purpose built off-road vehicles, but the Raptor is your favorite because it’s more “car-like” and better for picking up groceries and dropping the kids off at school? That’s absolutely hilarious. Did the Raptor get extra points for having more cup holders as well?
Maybe. But let's look past the groceries comment and read between the lines. I said it was better in every scenario except a technical hillclimb which you can see very clearly when you watch the video. The Raptor is my favourite because it's just plain better 98% of the time.
@Unsealed 4X4 If you don't mind me asking, what criteria did you use when coming up with your conclusion that the Raptor is "better 98% of the time"? The Rubicon has better approach/departure angles, better crawl ratio, a locking front differential, etc. It is clearly the better vehicle off-road. Your hill-climb proved that, as well as multiple other head-to-head reviews. On road, the Ranger Raptor is clearly more docile. Perhaps that matters to some. It's an afterthought to me, because that's not why we're buying either vehicle. The bottom line is this: The Wrangler Rubicon can go just about anywhere. For what it's worth, the Ranger Raptor probably can as well, just not an easily. If you want a daily driver that is off-road capable, get the Raptor. If you want an purpose built off-road vehicle that is perfectly fine at carrying kids to/from school or picking up groceries, get the Wrangler Rubicon and as an added bonus you will get more rear-seat leg room and rear air conditioning!
All but hurt Americans here not liking the European style ranger! Go f yourself guy, come on! The rubicon are not very stable at high speeds on the highway! And even worst for the shorter version so wtf are you getting mad of a nonsense comparison? It is what it is, two different vehicles two different built designs, so it’s good to compare one to the other... why not?
@@jesuslozano5468 The Ranger is USA also......this is just made for all the markets except USA. Because it is too small....
@@jesuslozano5468 Learn to read my man. It will do wonders for you. I've got no issues with the Ranger. My issue is with the conclusion of this "test". It's not often you see an off-road channel test two off-road vehicles and then declare a winner based on on-road nature/creature comforts. Also, your statement about the Rubicon being unstable at highway speeds is 100% incorrect. For a better off-road comparison between the Ranger and Rubicon (with bonus Jimny action) I'd recommend people check out: ruclips.net/video/sME4Lv1OnCo/видео.html
Very good rundown of the two vehicles 🚗. 👍🏻👏 Raptor is still my favorite 😊
Korrekt. A legjobb terepjárót, a legjobb teherautóval. Csak extrém terepen verte a platóst.
Great review. The Jeep's articulation on that hill climb was impressive.
Yep. It's launching in Oz in December.
Idrc i still love my jeep
I bought a Ranger for hunting and a for now truck but I’m excited to get a Jeep Rubicon two door some day!
finally someone tested the traction control! thank you!
Can't believe the Wrangler's cheaper than the Raptor down there. In the Philippines, it probably costs like 20,000 USD more than the Raptor
'Unsealed 4x4' awards win to more onroad family friendly vehicle... if I wanted that kind of weighting, I'd watch a car advice review...
Everyone knows the Jeep is the king of the hill in rock climbing.
The test was which makes you smile more.
Unless you only drive on a mountain, on road comfort is obviously part of the smile equation.
@@ralphcosimo7402 surely driving over a mountain rates higher on the smile factor then driving down to woolies to pick up some bread and milk? Smile factor is an an impossible metric in any case...
This comment made me chuckle for sure. When you’re dropping 50k+ though on the latest and greatest, you can’t always have another vehicle to use as your daily driver. Maybe you can but I can’t. I’d still choose the Rubi but that mini raptor seems pretty legit.
@@mattf20c27 Clearly you've never been in a Raptor. Lots of us Raptor guys have had Rubis (or better), and there's no comparison. Unless heavily modified, the Wrangler isn't much better in the rocks and much, much worse everywhere else.
I guarantee you (having done both) getting airborne in a Raptor at 70mph is way more fun than crawling in a Jeep... and way more comfortable to boot.
Jeep is way more expensive here in the Philippines than the Raptor.
Its a jeep, vs rookie.
2nd hand Jeep cost 2.3M and dealership Ranger Raptor cost just 2 million.
I recommend a new set of mics, but other than that a great comparison 🤙
Tell me about it. We had a professional shooter with us but for some reason the audio came across rubbish and in stereo. Sorry.
Not necessarily the mics. Just too much gain.
@@tonybruce One presenter in one headphone, one in the other not even stereo just mono.
Unsealed 4X4 your pro guy's "pro" mic must have ran out of battery and he/she didn't do a pre-test to check 😅
And don't PAN the mic's while they are talking...
Im torn in between buying Raptor or Wrnagler thanks for this! Very helpful
Yesterday I went offroad, 2 Jeeps and a Raptor. If you need a vehicle for offroad, definitely a Jeep. It makes everything much easier of the road. If road behavior is more important to you, Raptor. 😉
They’re both excellent.
The jeep is made for the rubicon trail (yes the other trims can do it) the amount of times I need to use lockers is limited to smooth rock crawling or crazy mud.
Nice video but I'll take the Ranger Raptor as soon as possible once available in the US
How about Jeep Gladiator VS Ford Raptor...
how about Jeep gladiator VS Ford F150 2021 Raptor...
They have different set of tires, looks like the Raptor has HT while the Jeep looks like has MT.
Very good point. What tires you use has far more impact than some seem to think. Then learning what each vehicle likes with that tire for pressure offroad is important. But even at that, I don't think they even began to push either vehicle.
Bruh that’s BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2 in the Raptor
I don't get it. I think you're being unfair to the ranger. Why do the hill track with the sway bar disengage on the wrangler and NOT use the rear lockers for the ranger? I bet you with the lockers on, it'll munch up that hill in no time. It comes in stock and if you can turn it on for the rough stuff, you should turn it on. I don't think it's fair to say that the ranger struggles compared to the wrangler when you haven't turned on all the options available for it.
That the doors and roof can come off is completely ignored? That's huge. Crazy
I know your comment is a year old but he did mention the doors come off.
one of the best medsize pickup. Raptor makes the diff.
As a Raptor owner I would like to point out that you selected the wrong mode, ROCK is for rock crawling not for dirty uphills.
We should have said we each tried a run up the hill and I didn't select Rock mode but the camera was only rolling when Ev drove. I had just as much slip and grip. To be honest it wasn't really the vehicle's fault, the hill was properly slippery and it was only the sway bar disconnect on the Wrangler and perhaps a light right foot that saw it walk up the hill a little easier.
That’s a big “only” sway bar feature.
My vote for Jeep Wrangler for it’s off-road and roughly look.
Honestly guys what you call harder in the Ranger is the design for it to be the the best desert runner, that slip is the beauty of the design, if jeep is ever going to try and compete in the Desert they will have to change up that PURE rock crawl style. In my opinion Ford nailed it so you can do it All plus in comfort and luxury!!
Woow i really like the jeep Wrangler😱😱😱 Cool🤟🤟
Jeep 4 me all day 👍
So you test them as off-roaders but like the comfort of getting groceries in the Raptor.
I award you no points...
Thanks. But we've all got to eat. And what I said was that the Raptor is better everywhere except a technical hillclimb.
Get a mini van sir! SMH
Well think of it as plus side, when you can do that after off road trips, weight is the differences when climbing the hill.
@@Unsealed I'd say the wrangler is better in the snow(weight distribution). Its probably easier to park(easier to see out of, and narrower). And the tail gate access is especially handy for grocery shopping. You could fold the rear seats down and sleep in the back for any reason you might need to. And the fun aspect when the doors and roof come off is unmatched. Its got its cons, but it has many more pros than stated in the video.
I do agree with you. They’ve tested them both off-road though the rear seats of the Raptor are more comfortable
So if you want to take your kids to soccer practice then buy a raptor. If you wanna go off-roading then buy a wrangler 😂
For me, the most important consideration is long-term reliability: that’s where I believe the Ford really outperforms the Wrangler.
Maybe, maybe the tranny of 8 or 9 speeds or whatever fails way down the road but other then that I don't believe so.
Sarah Smith , Anything Chrysler is highly unreliable in every respect; quality is no longer built into the name.
@@bethoughtprovoking
Maybe but the jk have been long since reaching 230,000 -290,000 miles on auto 5 speeds and the pentastar v6 I'm a die hard inline 6 fan those been gone forever but always hit 300 k even 400 -450 but the new ones with the variable speed and all the gizmos you might be right about. But hey that's what happens when Fiat piece of crap buys the long hard earned reliable name that was jeep. Fords though were notoriously dead in the water for many years now my family has had the edge the 150 -350 and fusion and exploder plus more and they are always having issues recall fix so it's about even theese days with all auto manufacturers withering the exception of Japanese made autos.
Sarah Smith, I agree; the old Jeeps were essentially military vehicles, robust and die-hard. Never was a Ford fan myself but, admittedly, the Ranger turned out to be a pretty decent off-roader. Personally, I stick with the Hilux.
@@bethoughtprovoking
Yes I would like to pick one up one day. I myself though stick with the nice old square body XJ with the nice sleeping option in the back and obviously seats for friends and the equally to the Yota bullet proof IL 6 4.0L with the Toyota made AW4 automatic transmission die hards they are. I've owned 8 XJ out of 17 vehicles and I'm only 30🤯 I just have one complaint I don't like the unibody for solidarity and long term longevity especially for wheeling so I have had a life long welder friend of my parents completely welded framed out and boxed every bit of it with overall 3 different frame stiffener companies parts mainlycause nobody offered front and rear pillar stiffener tie in to completely frame and box it out. If you glanced at it they contour it just like the stock unibodys shape people drool over it when they notice that lol and I love to catch the Yota guys and correct them one they say ya it's a shame cause it has no frame then tell them to look closely and they hide their envy😜. I want to get one of the first Hilux but I won't drive a manual especially offroad I live in WA state where the trails are steep slippery and fairly technical in some and alot of guys with manual admit they get to be a pain in the ass on some of the trails. So I ask you how were any of those auto for holding up over time? Or were there any made or offered in those first gen earlier years?
Put a 40 litre fridge (or even an esky) in the boot of the Jeep and you'll have bugger all space left for other touring gear. One day or short overnight trips probably not a problem.
Love the FORD RANGER RAPTOR
I think the new 2020 jeeps productions, now are more stable at highspeed than before.
My 2018 JLUR is very stable even above 85+ with bigger tires and about 500+ lbs extra weight, steel bumpers, rock rails, heavy duty tire carrier
@@flossin5025 oh ted thank you so much for replying this comment 2 years from now
@@makki1427 your welcome bro 👍
Nice Stereo effect in the beginning 😉👍🏻
Like the Jeep but love the Raptor..........I think it will be quieter on the highway too
Good review. Ranger probably better all rounder. But I've ordered a new Rubicon anyway.
I'd definitely take the Rubicon but if I had to get a truck I'd get a raptor
F-150 Raptor*
How deep can you go crossing the water? really before the system shuts down...
In Thailand Raptor is around $56,000 but imported Wrangler is around $156,000 US dollar
Swap out every joint in the front end of the Jeep with moog parts, and it handles like it's on rails. A vehicle that expensive should come with better suspension parts. Made a huge difference in my 2 door Jeep.
you bought a jeep..... fkn lol
Great video. I would however for real offroad 4×4 I'm used to here in America specifically Washington state trails they are tight and would eat the fords up they would never be able to hang for long yes on the wide open fat logging roads yes but if it comes to the steep tight incline trails in the desirable mountain wheeling this beautiful state is abundant in no way they would dig holes get stuck and for sure come out with a body looking like a crumpled candy wrapper. I'm sorry ford fans I do like the ford ranger specifically and would love one but I am just being real stating the facts. But for open space inclines with very good overall traction and country farm hill climbs the fords will be a great pick like they have been for decades but real 4×4 trails the jeep has no equal especially if your talking stock vs stock rigs even Toyota. In a Rubicon now you mod that same Rubicon heavily like any Toyota fans do for the trails and ya say no more.🤪
The Ford ranger raptor is so very cool!💚
These are a couple caveats for the US viewers, we don't have the Ranger Raptor at all and don't have these drivetrains you tested so it's not a rest we can really use......
..
But it was still fun to watch
Very good video! I own the Ranger Raptor since about 8 weeks and i agree with you 100 percent. It is an excellent everyday car with only one thing lacking: air conditioning for the back - my daughter loves the Raptor but she is not happy with that! Still the best and most entertaining car/truck i have ever driven!
Thanks. Yeah, the lack of rear air-con is annoying for the price. But the rest of the climate control is good and if pumped up it'll reach into the back well enough.
Hi, congrats on your Raptor buy!😎 I bet it is very nice to drive.👍 How do you find the power, it looks really good on paper, 213hp/500nm 👍 but doesnt it weight around 2.5 ton! My Dmax Arctic Truck AT35 weighs just under 2 ton, and with a tuning box mounted, it has 210 hp/440nm, but then again, I know Ford makes a 240 hp version of the same Raptor engine. Cheers!
@@bikerman6907 the power is fully ok for me and my needs. When i drive it in sports modus i even have the feelings that its to beefy.
One of the big differences between the Wrangler and any other off roader is the top. I didn't see how you remove the top from the Ranger. For us that's a major advantage of the Wrangler. Maybe where you live you don't drive topless.
Will the 3.2 litre be available or are we stuck with the little 2 litre?
in thailand, U can pay Renger Rapter 56,128 USD or 1,699,000 THB.
Perhaps next time don't use Rock mode on the Raptor when the primary contact on your tires is sand, Put it in Sand mode and you will probably notice a massive difference with traction.
Love how you guys review trucks
And the price difference and reliability has to be taken into account
Jeep was the best up the gravel track
Both amazing vehicles
the best one yet guys. Good job!
Great review.
Cannot wait for the Gladiator.
Bring on the Gladiator
A Truck is not a car, A Jeep is not a car 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Both are my favroite cars
Did You Guys Use A Baja Mode At The Raptor?
I think there have the raptor wrong, it’s suspension setup means it’s a speed machine bipass shocks it should take that climb with more speed
You have to choose Ranger here in Turkey, because Wrangler is 4 times more expensive than Ranger. 171000 >>43000 USD
Not sure you could power a 3000w kettle! Anyway looking at the inside, it would be good if the Raptor had a sunroof or even a panoramic roof.
Both Cars are nice 🇺🇸♥️
Well the only 🇺🇸 is the Jeep Wrangler. Ford decided not to sell this generation of the Ranger Raptor in the states
Two words: Resale value.

@@waltermeono5253 lol.. honda, toyota and nissan held better resale in a market that Ford or Chevy should be dominating. Ironic.
Shawn T Agree. US market is the most unloyal market for its own brands.
Do the high speed desert drive comparison too.
I can't believe the bias. I don't see how the Raptor is a better vehicle.
Also there is a computer flash that fixes the problem of twitchy
steering.
My 31' class A motorhome is much more "comfortable" than either the Jeep or the Raptor... So clearly it would win this comparison, right?
Clear out your ear wax and replay the video bud
Good to see aussie guys having a crack here, If you're reviewing for RUclips, invest in a drone and audio to up your quality and content. You'll only get better with ur vids
No point having a drone, all the action is at ground level 😁 Its a 4x4 show not a travel show.
Do these 2 come with a gas engine option or diesel only.?
Raptor Version is for run at desert not for climb rocks
Great video thanks guys.... lots of audio issues though
Those arms have never seen a gym or hard work. I'd like to see them change a tyre or get properly stuck.
Will N POWER STEERING 😂😂😂😂
This isn't the "real" raptor though. How do you think the F150 Raptor would fair?
Whats a “real” raptor? Toxic ideology
Not complaining but there is something wrong with your audio.......otherwise great comparison
Cheers
VERY good.
That's gut. One blond, one brunnet , both are good. One for the city, other for the road !
Change the Tires of the Raptor! 😉
The wheel of the Raptor is wider.
If u want speed u get a sports car if u want comfort u get a luxury car. If u want a off road vehicle u get a jeep.if u want a pickup to haul and pull with u get a full size truck with a bigger diesel engine in it. Facts for you.
Jeep Wrangler has more traction control . The raptor skid
Ranger raptor is the bess👍👍👍
Hey guys how do i get a right handed option jeep?
That’s not a Rubicon? It doesn’t have a red dash, bumper packaging or high rise fender?
두 차중 어느차가 승차감이 좋은가요 ?
I’ll take the Raptor
These audio though......my ears!!!
Why not compare Raptor to Gladiator?
Because the Gladiator hasn't arrived in Australia yet. We'll be attending the launch in December. Stay tuned.
Wheel base is a bit longer on gladiator. Jl all the way for me, I like the more difficult trails, but great comparison.
Ranger Raptor will smoke the anemic Gladiator
Virg Fresco flat ground no doubt, Rubicon Trail not on a good day. It was choking trying to do that little bit of a trail they were on.
@@coreyraley6213 Stock Gladiators are ... PURE SHIT... that rear depserute angle is about the same as trying to wheel my 3/4 Dodge Diesel , but 35s on the dodge yield me better ground clearance JT = fail and they look like until 37-40s go on and then they're only as capable as a cheap Jeep Cherokee in 33s
But nothing stock is worth a shit offroad anyway .
Great comparison, just commented on a previous offroad comparison where they actually did not compare the 2 vehicles, it was like 2 separate videos. Don't know which I'd prefer myself, it might depend on the kids!
What TC mode did you have it in on the climb? Would be interesting to see a comparison of the modes on that climb, and on a beach, etc. Anyone fitted a front elocker to a Ranger Raptor?
That's a good question. We had it in 4Low and Grass/Gravel/Snow because of how slippery the hill was. There was no point using rock mode because the surface, while lumpy, was too think with dirt/dust.
I love jeep but can't afford to buy one.
Nice video, but something went wrong at the mix down.
One mic is left, the other one is right, all the time.
The mic quality is not great as well.
Everything else is good.
Keep improving, nice channel.
I still can't understand why Ford would build such a beautiful looking 4X4 and ruin it by putting a 2 litre milk bottle under the bonnet. They could have at least stuck with the 3.2L diesel or given it a petrol upgrade to a 4 litre Barra turbo 6cyl or small V8.
Honestly would love the engine upgrade, the 3.2L diesel has just a bit more pull in terms of torque but sacrifices in HP as far as I'm aware of after watching a side by side comparison. It's mainly to cater to the SEA markets but the Australian markets are getting some hefty engine upgrades which is well needed. The 2L Bi-Turbo doesn't sit right with me, it's like putting nitrous on a smart car!
Could’ve just used the Gladiator Rubicon instead of the Wrangler, so the comparison is truck vs truck
That 240v outlet will not run a kettle.
Climbing up th mountain, TMS should have been in the Sand mode.... rock mode gives more wheelspins vs the sand mode
Great review
Good video just need a better mic set up.
