Correction the Ford Ranger Raptor comes with a twin-turbo 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel.
Watch our Ute Mega test 11 Utes, 1 winner ruclips.net/video/Ex4KKXnUekE/видео.html
I noticed the petrol and was also surprised
Thanks for the correction
On this video is old Ford, not new Raptor ! :)
That’s ok
Let's hear it for the production guys standing out in the rain all day to grab some superb footage. Great review all round.
For the Raptor to go through the same line 3 times, and recover two other Ute's that got stuck in the same rut is kinda funny.
I LAUGHED when the Ford came to Holdens rescue 🤣 😂
Hahaha yeah thought that was great marketing for ford
I was wondering what all the laughter here was about but finally realised that Ford vs HSV is akin to Audi vs BMW/Mercedes and I've seen those vids where Audi rescues them lol
Nice review Sam. Thoughtful commentary on the three utes and nice footage of them in wet conditions too. Well done and thank you to you and the team that put this together.
It feels like HSV weren't sure what to do with the Colorado and their inexperience with 4wd doesn't help. It's almost as if they wanted to make it for the race track with it's firmer suspension.
Completely agreed.. it was never gonna be a racetrack car so i don't know what they were thinking.
And good to see that rain, given the tragic circumstances. ☔
Good Video - and i totally agree, the Ford Ranger Raptor is the best truck i ever drove. I just had a perfect winter test, riding it on snow and ice. The Raptor pulled through everything perfectly and safe, while we saw many other cars having major problems. Perfect choice - if you can live with the reduced payload and towing capacitiy.
At this point if you really need the payload and towing, the FX4MAX fits that need. The Raptor is a lifestyle truck while the FX4MAX retains the work nature of the pickup truck.
If you want payload then get the F150 Raptor and above.
You can't get a little dinky truck like the Ranger and expect to get big payload.
@@farzana6676 "little dinky" if only. Rangers are too fucking large nowadays. El Camino sized trucks are long gone. Even the Maverick is as large as a Frontier.
@@mangoshake What are you talking about? El Camino is not even a real pickup. It's a modified wagon from decades ago.
F150 is the fastest selling truck in the World for a reason.
@@farzana6676 what are YOU talking about? I wasn't talking about the F150. I'm saying the Ranger has long abandoned its roots. It used to be small-almost as small as the El Camino.
Pick up trucks designed to deliver small items, a job also shared by the El Camino, are gone. The T6 Ranger, not the Raptor model, is 80% the size of the F150 now. It's only a few mm smaller in height and only 3/4 of a wheel arch shorter. The Maverick, which should be even smaller, is only a bumper's length shorter than the Ranger.
I'm not arguing against the marketability of the F150, because its size and capacity are perfect for its use. The Ranger is nowhere near small now. It can barely fit an alley without scraping the body; something the old, "little dinky" model used to be.
The Ranger is way too large for what little it, and especially the Raptor model, is rated to do.
The SportsCat developers have really thought it out in their design. They knew that those recovery hooks will be put to good use and [probably] often to give it a blazing color.
Haha
I think you got it right. Good honest little off-road test. Well done!
Best review to ever have come out of caradvice. Thumbs up.
Thanks for the feedback!
I've owned a raptor for well over a year, and i take it on tougher 4x4 tracks then shown, it never lets me down. Only issue is the side steps, replace them with rock-sliders (and some more underbody protection) and its perfect for really tough tracks
How is stock underbody protection? I just assumed it was extra beefy considering how much they spent on suspension/ brakes/ bodywork
@@wozzgalaxy to protect vs small rocks flying up, it would be enough. For actual landing on rocks (rock crawling of any sort), its inadequate
Apparently rock-sliders hurt the safety rating of the cars in a side on crash
So no manufacture is ever going to bother putting real rock-sliders on.
@@SilverMe2004 You can get approved ones (eg ARB), but they aren't as tough as proper ones. The issue is if they affect functionality of the side airbags. So you have to choose depending on what your going to be using the car for, personally I do a lot of 4x4 over rocks, so stronger the better.
@@b0wen11 Is this ranger raptor better than a Hilux legend 50 or a Fortuner?
Thanks from Spain, good job, the video is really good.
The people are wrong whith the raptor cilindrate. We have to say thanks to ford performance for give the most spectacular pick up in apariance and prestations, and they have maken it with a motor with a really content fuel consumpsion. You can use everyday, everywhere, and every situations. Wonderful !!!!!
I thought the Ranger Raptor is a 2.0 Bi Turbo diesel engine?
It is, it is. Please forgive the typo in the info card! - Mike S
@@Drivecomau accepted. You had me there too, mate.

It‘s a great very good and nice fair test!! I‘m a Ram Rebel owner but I need to downgrade in size!! Thanks to your Test I can sign the contract for the ranger Raptor with no worries. Thank you 🙏🏽👍🏽🙇🏽♂️
The Raptor will feel like a little toy to you. Those Rams are big bastards.
Ford Ranger is truly the saving grace for Ford.
Just another great car made by them really. Just like the FPV F6, focus RS, GT40 etc. When they go all out, they definately know how to build a car.
It's a raptor not a ranger
Not to mention about the new Bronco.
I would take the Bronco over the Ranger Raptor.
@@charlie2king It's a Ranger Raptor.
It's diesel only!!! WTF???
very nice video, bro. congratz from Brazil.
Thank for conduct testing. Amazing video.
Your welcome, apart from getting completely soaked in the rain it was great fun!
Very good test, my favorite is the Raptor. Compared to the other two its in a league of its own. Very informative and unbiased unlike CarWow.
What did Carwow say?
Thanks for your feedback! We're glad you enjoyed the clip!
@@amirhossainzadeh3951 wow car?

Goshhh its always the Ford Ranger Raptor!!!
LOVE IT!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love the Raptor but I’ll buy the Navara N-Trek - better affordability.
I would have bought it but other than offroad design it has fallen behind in other tech safety wise.
Great review. I’d like to see the NP300 with same tyres as the raptor and do some more tracks. No point comparing a leaf sprung Ute as it will never be as capable as a coil sprung Ute.
You would expect the ranger would be the best ute its 20k dearer then the Warrior. The fact the Nissan can almost keep with the best in class just proves the value for money of the warrior.
Hey bru, did you record fuel consumption data during those first two drives ?
Sandy trail
And Obstacle course
Excluding the last challenge.
Some utes aren’t stock built for four wheel driving, because some are nice looking utes that can carry a load from one place to another. However a modified 4wd ute is the same thing but also use for proper 4wd and camping
Wow! Thanks for helping me sealing the deal for the raptor! My dream pick up truck!!
Would you really consider a holden now?
At the last obstacle did you guys turn on the e-locker on the Nissan Navara?
Great review! If only we got the Triton Absolute.
Good review. At the end of last year I was all set to buy the SportsCat. Glad I held off now.
Thanks for your feedback!
I've never seen someone sit so close to the wheel and so upright in a car before.
Would it make you feel better if he had the back of the seat laid halfway back, a cap turned around backwards/to the side of his head, a hand on his crotch and rap noise blasting as loud as the system would go?
Don't forget to use the road modes in the Raptor as well, it has 6, 2 on road, 3 off-road, and BAJA.
Rubber! KO2 is in a different performance class, dominates off road. All contenders would be fine on KO2 but they are equipped differently so it's a valid comparison between OE vehicles
Where did you test them ?
Like the video. I wish if you had time to use the same tyres on all three trucks
Cant wait to pick up a Raptor, never been so excited.
Holden doesn’t get the zr2 with front and rear lockers?
Awesome Review 👌!!
I want a ranger/ raptor !!
I wonder how well Ford’s direct competitor for the Nisan and the Holden will fair once it’s developed? The FX4 Max or what ever they choose to call it?
Would of liked to see the zr2 compared to the ranger raptor but I don’t know if y’all get it in Australia
This guy’s seat set up reminds me of my mom when she drives
How does the Nissan Warrior stack up against the Ford Ranger Raptor with the same BFG tires. I am wondering how much more capable it becomes!
Great video! Just what we want to see. Sad about the Warrior I had high hopes.
Not sure if you caught the summery. The Worrior, while it didn't have the clearance of the ford, did a very credible job. Just looking at what you get for your buck, the Worrier is an excellent buy and very capable ute - just not the clearance for the ford. But that's an easy fix.
BTW, I drive a Patrol and not looking to give it up too soon : ) Point is, if you have a capable 4x4, than go have some fun!
the ground clearance and tire between raptor and warrior makes it different in result, AT3 type tire for warrior doesn't fit with mud slippery track but it went well on sand, asphalt or other track then this. with just 268mm ground clearance AT3 for sure it will stuck there. i own np300 for 4 years and i am proud of it, it brings me anywhere i wanna go without prob.
Raptor by a mile am surprised by the Nissan though looks like they have lifted they game
nice comparison guys!.. Whereabouts are these trails?
What mode are you in the raptor in the last test? Mud with 4L?
Good comparison. Where was this filmed?
You should keep your thumbs outside the steering wheel in case it kicks back in these off road situations. Good to see you giving them a proper 4WD test. It would be interesting to silence the critics if you chucked an 80 series Cruiser or the like in there for the challenges. I think we'd all be surprised that these utes actually do really well. That's from a 105 Cruiser owner.
Good point, and ford has also thought of that with the steering wheel design, got a coupla of thumb points for these exact moment's
Dave D , I don’t think an XF would get up the gully that the Colorado and Navara couldn’t. That video comparison showed the XF driven fairly hard. Remember the dash sticker ‘Remember you have to drive this home’!
The three brands I Like :D Doesn't matter what's what. I would pick any of them.
Where did you take them? Looks like Wombat forest
Great comparison and very interesting seeing the seemingly similar vehicles conquering the same track. One thing - where was that track ? - looks interesting and a nice drive ... VIC or NSW ? Cheers Sam
Very good review - and i agree with you guys 100%. The Ranger Raptor is number one. I drive it since 10 months and i love it. By far the best car/truck i have ever driven!
Where was the testing ?
Top Video, love to see the Jeep Gladiator Rubicon up against the Raptor :)
I would love to see that too!
But let's throw the new Bronco in for good measure.
Nothing beats Raptor knew it before I even clicked the video. Great tests though.
Raptor killed it.. and i am HSV/Holden person.. not that it matters with it all down the toilet.. but if i had the cash.. Raptor
Agree if money was no issue...I got myself a near new 2019 Colorado 20k km for only $28.5k and love it!
Where are these tracks?
You fast forwarded the best part of the track
So what’s happening with HSV now all Holdens are discontinued? GM models still gonna come through?
It's been 6 months since you wrote that and still no one has no idea?
Maybe GM has no idea like everyone else...?
I don't understand why the Holden Colorado HSV Sportscat is not equipped like our (USA) Chevy Colorado ZR2. It has a two inch lift from the base model, 3 inch wider stance, special off road muti matic spool valve shocks, and dual lockers. It also comes standard with the same BF Goodrich tires that were on the Raptor you tested.
Budget cuts & their stupid
8.6L for the raptor? My mate can’t get his below 11L 🤷♀️
I was gunning for the Colorado Had high hopes for the HSV but sadly lowkey I knew the Ranger Raptor was gonna out perform both the Colorado and the Navara 😔 great video tho
Need to be the ZR2 Colorado to properly compare to the Raptor I think.
Youre looking for is @19:25
What about the Amarok 580 V6???
Anyone know where this is?
Gotta love that Raptor 👍😍👍
Raptor is best! 👍🏻
For heavy towing the Colorado. It does this very well. The firmer suspension is what you need. Much better more reliable gearbox as well. Good reliable engine. Mine is rated to carry 1 ton in the rear. This is more than the rest. The HSV has better brakes which it needed.
Let's put the same size tires on all the vehicles and see the Nissan do just as good
Not really, even as simple as the shocks, the raptors are far superior
Hows the Auto in these Rangers the 3.2 used to cook them alot have they improved the trans cooler?
I have the 3.2L as my every day and have a 3.2L as my work vehicle ( company car ) no tranny issues and yet to actually hear one in person. I feel it is a lot of internet talk as the transmission ford has been using for ages across several models, not just the rangers. it is very well built. Any transmission will benefit from higher volume of oil and better cooling obviously.
@@1989cranston Our 3.2 6 speed Ranger had the transmission fail, not from overheating. A seal in the torque converter failed and let the converter drain. Apparently it wasn't exactly uncommon with the earlier ones (ours is a 2013 PX1) and it only seems to happen with the 3.2. Ford warranted it, even though it was six years old.

Raptor recovering a Colorado... Ford vs Holden lol, that's not a good image for Holden on face value. Great video review.
Ford Ranger Raptor and Ranger 2022-2023 V6 turbo diesel or 2.3L Ecoboost petrol
Best comparison yet !
why didnt you guys include the Great Wall Steed? that ute is an offroad beast... Steed anytime, anywhere plus a very good resale...
Raptor is the best....love to have one of this monster truck.
Now if the Raptor had a V6 or larger it would be a beast.
Nebs you better go 150
Perhaps clearance should be equal for all utes on test, for a fairer comparison
After nearly a year of driving it here in Spain, I can only say that it is a great car. And when I went to the dealer to buy one. There was an oficial waiting list of around 8 months. But after some negotiation I got one, non registerd, in 8 days.
I did get an additional piggy-back ECU and throttle control system. With 7+1 maps(last one being by-pass to stock). Which was developed and tested in Germany to pop out 256HP and 656(!)Nm.
Still need to do an app controlled 0-100 timing test to get an indication of the 0-100kph time. But it will be under 10 seconds when Ifeel the difference between standard and max modes. As tyres do sqeek by just flooring the pedal during stepfoot speed of app 5kmh in rear wheel drive.
For a diesel with lower range torque. Paired with a 10-speed gearbox. It does move. And the sensation is also felt as you know your bringin 2500kg plus kg in motion.
Yes, it is more expensive but it comes with nearly all options as standard. Bed cover, towing bar. etc.
Tyres are also great and not extremely expensive as people think. High thread and large rolling distance per revolution make it wear less. And other main price factor is usually the max speed limits in combination with low profile side walls. Which for a Raptor doesn't need to be high speed rated. A second level T-spec tyre for 190kmh max is enough.
For Europe it is great. As we do have a lot of unpaved tracks here. And no real obstacle heavy tracks. For which a G-class with short wheel base would probably be the best option to go for.
Some additional info is that Fox shocks make it drive like a limousine until really pushing it on unpaved roads. As it is rather soft in the normal user range. Andwith it's weight and big balloon tires I can laugh at even the most high specced Range Rover HSE. Several have tried to show me that they are quicker off the line. But that's only short liven satisfaction for them. As they will have to break hard for the first speed bumps due to 1 level suspension and low tyres. So when their wheel reaches the bumps they just find me jumping next to them whil driving in cruise control at 100kmh.
Also your comment about the gear box is no problem. As it shifts faster in SPorts mode and also runs higher revs.
The only thing I plan to add is a front camera as it is difficult to judge distance during parking. But I have bought 25 euros of parts to add a camera to the Sync 3 system. But didn't get around in installing it due to all covid period and efforts to keep my bussineses open. But as a technician I am confident that it will work and isn't even too hard to wire and install. SO I will get it to work first to present my sollution.Best of all. Until now I have only seen Raptors at the dealerships, or driven by test journalists. So after a good clean it will still hold a strong value.
More given the fact that it isn't a newly developed car. But just an improved version of one of the most reliable and sold cars in the world.
I have no regrets at all. And my 8 year old son solves the endless questions from viewers. Who still give both thumbs up when they see me.
It's like a nice south american womans rear. Some look you straight in the face and smile, while others look away and turn their heads after you psass them. LOL.
I hear the Ranger Raptor is very unstable at high speed in the rain. Always wants to lose traction on the road.
@@farzana6676 Haven't noticed. Though I don't drive high speeds ON THE ROADS.
Where did you hear this?
@@henriwolbrink Many owners say it's not good in the wet on the tarmac. The tail wants to slide.
@@farzana6676 All rear wheel driven car tend to slide when driven on wet with off road tyres.
So it is important to be able and compare it with the types of other vehicles.
I noticed that the Raptor has better grip than other rangers, due to its softer suspension.
@@henriwolbrink Yes, I think it is the offroad tires that is causing the issues.
But then if you are using the truck on the road 80% of the time does it make sense to have offroad tires which cause issues in the rain.
Should test the Mitsubishi hunter. I see nz only made 20 of them
that rear on the colorado " i want to be an f150,no one will know in austrailia "
Raptor has the best overall technology. Ideal for any terrains. For the looks I'd go for the navara. Raptor and Navara are my top pick.
Is the Colorado ZR2 not an option over there?
Nope.
And now GM/Holden has pulled out of Australia.
Raptor for me real soon here in the PH!
Awesome Ford Ranger Raptor! New engine this coming 2022-2023 Ford Everest, Ford Ranger and Ford Ranger Raptor. 2.3L petrol and V6 diesel engine from Amarok. Ford and Volkswagen combine engjneering

Awesome Ford Ranger Raptor! New engine this coming 2022-2023 Ford Everest, Ford Ranger and Ford Ranger Raptor. 2.3L petrol and V6 diesel engine from Amarok. Ford and Volkswagen combine engjneering
Price has already told the conclusion
As great as the Raptor is, you can fit remote reservoir shocks to any 4WD and 33" BFGs, its not a new development or a big secret.
but then its a modified vehicle and you face problems with ADR's etc
But why buy a Raptor, Warrior or SportsCat, if you're going to modify it yourself?
Price of the Raptor ?
All of these trucks has its off road capacity. I've seen a lot of videos of Navara not only just in an off road but extreme off road and navara can make it!!! I wonder in your review why the navara have stuck in not so extreme off road situation!!! 😁😁
Navara did well - Raptor just did better.
When it comes to utility vehicles I rather the durability of diesel engine . 300-400 k mileage is a serious plus
what an honest review..
Thanks for your feedback!
The Telegraph Track to Cape York would have these 3 out of their depth without serious modification!
No the Dmax form 4WD 24 7 is basically stock compared to these and has made that trip
The sport cat is the same or the equivalent of the colorado bison?
No way, the Bison has a much better suspension and front and rear selectable lockers.
It's a lot more comparable to the Raptor except probably better because of the front locker.
It doesn't feel right seriously. I've been with my 2016 d23 stx navara everything stock through much harder conditions!!!
While he seems like a good driver, I reckon every car could of pushed through that last section, with the right lines all them cars could of made it easy.
Doesnt wanna break anything maybe?
Value for money at the moment is the Nissan... dealers have new 2019 models for $49k drive away... the money you save on RAPTOR and HSV can be spent on more mods and still have change left over .. and it’s not bad looking but of kit
You can't match the raptor suspension set up for that dollars
To make a fair comparison you needed to run the same tread pattern on all utes. The reason the Raptor made it up the hill and the others didn't at the end was because of the tyres alone. Id say there wouldn't be much in it between the Nissan ane the Raptor if running the same tyres.
But they’re trying showing you what it comes with and how it performs out of the dealer
You are crazy if you think it was only the tires. Better suspension, better gear box for reduction, better engine are just a few reason the raptor is better then the Nissan.
@@AgentJMiB I know right
Nissan! Use the same tire and size as the Ford and you have an extremely capable 4x4 for far less money. Both are amazingly capable trucks!
It’s a Ute
Idiot. Those are stock tires on Raptor.
They are trucks!
Dare i say, i have the ranger raptor for 10months and 25k kms, and its the best truck ive had.
Just use #FordPerformance #RangerRaptor and you’ll see a raptor pulling a hilux at @ 45 degree incline soil.
Surely these types of tests are highly dependent on which line the driver takes?
He drove a different line for the Raptor
