Now it turns over like the battery is going dead without starting. The nearest volvo dealer is 2 hours away, and the non volvo scan read a cam sensor failure. I think its worse. Any ideas?

    I have a 2015.5 S60 T5 single turbo. I never have any issues with oil consumption. I have recently drove it 7k miles due to cross country driving and no oil consumption and the car has 42k on the odometer. I did have a weird whine during cold weather once. I don’t have any clue what it could be. Sounded like a bad bearing in a belt accessory or spring tensioner. It has not done it in a while. What are your thoughts on that?

    Hello, I've been doing some research about Volvos lately and I figured out that 2.5T engine is quite nice with C30, but I'm interested in faster ones so S60 is the one and 300HP+ too. I found some information about the 3.0T but would it be reliable? if they even are, because 4 out of 5 owners, very very roughly speaking, had a positive feedback, some said 3.0T failed on them and it had oil problems and what not so what do you think about used cheaper ones, maybe from a car auction too. 2.0 Twincharged ones 2016+ are quite expensive.

    Can I ask you this question? Yesterday, a Ford mechanic told me that my 2017 VOLVO XC60 T6 R design 2.0 supercharged/turbocharged engine are known to use .5 to 1.0 quarts of oil within the first 1,500 miles. If that’s true then does that indicate the engine would use 2-3 quarts of oil toward the next recommended oil change at 10,000 miles? That would imply the engine would overheat and lock due to not enough engine oil in the system correct? This Ford mechanic has me very concerned. I feel my VOLVO runs cherry. It’s smooth and quiet. More so now that the oil was changed and Liqui Moly CERATEC was added at 55,000 miles. Thank you

    • @TheVolvoGuy
      @TheVolvoGuy  2 года назад

      If you use as little as .5qts every 1k miles that adds up to 5qts and the engine holds 6.25qts so that will most definitely damage the engine, and most certainly it's not okay since the 2017 and on go 10k miles without losing more then 1 qt. I never go 10k on my engine no matter what any ways, I still to 3-5k max.

    Having a factory twin charged engine is my ideal. I presume that the company will have solved a lot of problems that aren't addressed in after market add ons.
    But is it actually any good? Does it have more problems than it's worth? Or is it a good and reliable engine? I think it's been out for more than two years now.

    • @TheVolvoGuy
      @TheVolvoGuy  5 лет назад +4

      Good question. I actually have seen people and talked to people about doing a super charger and a turbo charger back in 2006 but the lack of money and other resources put a huge halt on it. But the main challenge was how to disengage the supercharger after at higher rpms. Volvo used an electrical clutch that is controlled by the ECM. Now is it worth it?
      Yes you have no lack of power at any rpms what so ever from idle to high end no problems at all with engine. Most people do not know that but this engine was used in the pollstar model and it was the 2nd most powerful 4 cylinder was ever made right after the Mercedes 4cylinder AMG engine. No problems with it at all except for early on with piston rings but this problem got fixed very quickly.

    With all the reliable 4 cyl engines out there. why did Volvo make their own?. They could have bought it from someone else or just copied someone elses design. My independent Volvo shop has two right now. They were purchased from Carmax and they are paying for the repairs . Maybe the customer bought an extended warranty. This guy does a lot of repairs for Carmax to make the car salable on or after the sale. I pity the poor folks buying used Volvos thinking they are buying the reliability of Volovs made years ago, maybe before 2013. Still beautiful cars but the quality has gone to pits.
