I've been listening to Deliverance all evening and just happened upon this post. Nice to see they still have some fans, as I feel they have always been one of the best from the 80s and still hold up today. Weapons of our Warfare brought me through some trying times, scripture performed with passion.
Amazing list! Some greats, classic and modern. Didn't see a few of my favorites like Living Sacrifice, Zao, and Saving Grace, but all in all... I think this was a pretty well made list! Surprised me with Impending Doom. I get whiplash every time I hear that one.

So glad to see so many different types of metal. Although, I was missing bands like "Fit for a King", and "Darkness divided". They are some of my all time favorite bands. You should also check out the Australian band "For All Eternity". They are so underrated in my opinion.

yes demon Hunter is my favorite band. my absolute favorite band ever.
I remember that Deliverance video ( ie. Weapons). I haven't seen it in ages. It felt incredibly relevant at the time for a Metallica fan trying to reconcile his faith and music style preferences and being passionate about both.

I have been listening to them since day one. Deliverance, Tourniquet, Bloodgood, Shout, all that stuff. I never gave up on the Metal.. just have to lower the volume a little nowadays.

I am a christian Who has hunted for bands like this and kept falling back into the old ways of listening to secular music...I always had a hard time expressing my feelings through words and just being in spirit listening to music~That being said....I have never heard of any of these bands other then stryper-and their sound was more like Fluff metal to me...something just didn't feel right to me in their message-I won't knock them they tried to get their message out to the masses and if they hadn't done this these other bands might not have gotten out there-personally Thanks for your work...I really needed something like this for my sanity~LOL

I was listening to this top 10 and a few of the bands I have never heard of and I was wondering where in the world was Deliverance and/or Sacred Warrior. Deliverance was #1 wow that was no surprise but where's Sacred Warrior? Either singer is phenomenal.
How did Theocracy not make this list? They are the BEST
But Skillet, P.O.D and Red they are christian rock.

All of them have dabbled in something called "nu metal".
Nu metal, is basically alternative metal, but it takes one or two aspects of a non-metal genre and merges it with metal.
P.O.D being the most notable for doing this kind of metal "fusion", with their reggae-infused songs.
I'm not too sure about Skillet and Red though. Some of Red's earlier stuff (namely their debut album) could be considered nu metal. But Yes, Skillet is more of an Christian alternative rock band nowadays. I guess they "used" to be nu-metal, or they have experimented with that style of writing in the past?
I dunno... But anyway, I hope I could give some context as to why Sanctuary put them on there, and why people would pick those bands.
Signum Regis, Deliverance and Tourniquet are excellent!

Personally I dont think many of these music videos should be in a best of list. If the video isn't actually telling a story is just a video of guys playing a song. Videos like TFK-Falling Apart, Project 86-My Will be a Deadman those are videos that enhance the song or give it deeper meaning that's what makes a video great at least in my perspective.
Project 86's Spy Hunter video is great too. Or Pipe Dream. Or One Armed Man.

While I wish Living Sacrifice's Reject would've made an appearance, overall I can't argue with the list.
Don't get me wrong here, I love stryper and yes I grew up listening to them in the 80s just like everybody else did. Now here's the thing stryper should not be on this list, the reason, they are not a metal band they are a rock band. There's a big difference between hard rock and heavy metal. Still I'm glad they're on the list I guess.

To comply with copyright laws, comments are made over the audio rather than playing the music in its original format. “Also only clips that are 10 seconds or less are used. Bands would much rather you find their music on their own copyrighted pages or even better, purchase them if you want to enjoy the songs without distractions.
Deliverance, Stryper, Red, TFK, For Today, Impending Doom, Signum Regis, Skillet, P.O.D, The Letter Black, Theocracy, Mortification and Disciple were better than hearing Ariana Grande, eh?
