One of the movies in my list is Decline of the Western Civilization: the Metal Years, a documentary. There is a mix of hard metal and glam but that was the first time I had see Lemmy Kilmister. When I saw him there I hadn’t heard his music yet but he was just a chill and positive guy that I became a fan for life. Unbelievable guy. I would have followed him through fire after that movie. Also Ozzy is “normal” and you see the Lord of Darkness in his most normal before their TV show. Megadeth is also there and that is another band I fell in love with that band and have been a fan for life. If anyone missed this documentary movie, then stop and see it.

'Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure' holds a special place in my heart because I first saw it spending the night at a friend's when we were 10 years old and the movie had been out on VHS rental. They had two VCR's so they'd record every movie that they rented-I even remember the FBI warning telling you NOT to do that but everyone did anyway. My friend died a few years later from a really, really bad asthma attack so I always think about him and how we laughed at this movie, excited to stay up all night watching movies and playing Nintendo. I miss you, buddy.

A few others to consider - The Gate, Deathgasm, Almost Famous, Heavy Metal in Baghdad (a documentary), Slumber Party Massacre 2, Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny...

Jazz musicians are the real deal, don't discount them. Jazz is a difficult genre to play! Easy to listen to, but not so easy to play. Case in point, another movie from back in the day was the movie "Crossroads". Ralph Macchio cannot play the instrument, but he sure acts out the part really well. Classical guitar is insane. Also, the fact that Eddie Van Halen asked country star Roy Clark to teach him to play guitar, says a lot. Roy Clark was a master of stringed instruments, particularly the guitar, violin/fiddle, and banjo, highly technical in his mastery of these instruments.
If I remember correctly too, it is a Jazz drummer that holds the "bps" world record according to Guiness World, but it doesn't actully say, but he was just 11 years old when he accomplished this feat. Classical guitarists are some of the fastest and technically sound players in the world. I love my metal music, but facts are facts.

1998’s Still Crazy with Bill Nighy is my ultimate go to movie about hard rock. Fused with humor and things that really happen in the world of music is amazing. My other must is Almost Famous. Some of the lines that were added to that movie just hit me hard and are part of my musical truths. Especially the line about things being raw and natural leading up to a single “woo”. The directors cut is better yet. Both had amazing soundtracks that I still listen to. Honorable mention can go to Singles. Although happening in Seattle at the height of the grunge era, it does delve into some of the misfortunes of people in the music scene. Once again a damn good soundtrack.

    12? How un-metal.
The 13th heavy metal movie would be the following.
What is more metal than a priest breaking Biblical Commandments to summon Satan, all the while listening to the most genuine metal bands. A great movie, "Day of the Dead". Or "El dia de la Bestia" an Italian language movie from 1995.
Why not The Stoned Age? This would be from the era of just before the NWBNH. I think a better representation of what Dazed and Confused attempted to bring shined in The Stoned Age.
Heavy Metal Parking Lot was an accurate depiction of a Judas Priest concert. Seeing activities in the parking lot before a show was a great representation of actual heavy metal fans engaging in real heavy metal antics.
Go ahead and have your barely metal picks for this topic while the real heavy metal movies are out there.
