- Let’s take a road trip to kiwi Classic and customs to get the ford 8.8 Narrowed for the 63 studebaker Lark. It’s been a long time coming. After getting our schedule’s lined up for both of us to be able to do it , it finally happen. I’ve never done one before and wanted to be there to learn how to do it. Kiwi was a great teacher and learned a lot from him. Big thanks to him for taking time out of his busy schedule to do this. Thanks for watching. @kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 @ScottsSpeedShop #nonamenationals #fabrication #automotive #cars #homegarage #roadtrip #kiwiclassicsandcustoms #moparal #studebakerlark #studebaker #hemiswap #youtube #ford8.8rearend #narrowrearend #customcars #automobile #restomod #learningsomthingnew #learning
Thank you for taking us along for this. Very cool and glad to see you two working together.
Thanks.. kiwi has been a great friend.
Always a good day when you learn something new!!
Absolutely!
Thanks Al and Kiwi. Great how to video.
Thanks
Had to watch both, good seeing you two are still tight.
Trash always takes itself out.
Nice work as always Al. Kiwi is a Helluva fabricator as well.
Yes he is.
Glad to see how this is done
Awesome work!👍
I like the internal alignment setup with the heavy tool steel bar going through the bearing centered jigs. Looks like a more positive placement than using external V blocks to line the tube up. With the quality prep and welding I dont believe you will have any trouble with this rearend. Its only a matter of accurately placing your brackets for proper alignment and straight line hits on the track. Kiwi continues to impress. The Lark will be a beast.
Thanks
Nice job! Nice video! Thanks for sharing! That jig kit is pretty cool!
Yes it is.
You're working off the Bearings not so much the housing, you can move the tubes with to much heat .
Kiwi's curtains and cushions is a great channel!👍
That stopped being funny about the third time Tony said it.
@@alantrimble2881 you'll love this one...
"Why did the chicken cross the road?"
It's got a be a fun day with Kiwi!
Always
Excellent video learn alot
So one axle will be shorter and the whole rear-end will slide over towards the right side of the frame? Thanks.
No.. the ford 8.8 is offset to the right or passenger side. By shorting the driver side 2 7/8” it centers the rear end under the car . The axle’s are the same length now.
Only cutting one side???
Yup. The driver side is longer than the passenger side ,this allows the chunk to be center underneath the car. By shorting it 2 7/8” you are able to use the same length axles on both sides.
