Loved Barry Manilow's music back in the 70's-80's even though some people didn't consider it cool. Barry is a great singer songwriter & his music career spans nearly 7 decades. My favorite song by him is "Weekend In New England". But he had so many great songs such as "I Write The Songs", "Could It Be Magic", "Looks Like We Made It", "Can't Smile Without You", "Copacabana (At The Copa)", "Bandstand Boogie", "Tryin' To Get The Feeling Again", "Ready To Take A Chance Again", "Even Now", It's A Miracle" etc.
He is so underrated and not appreciated, I have loved him since the 70's. My kids were made to listen to him because it was my car and I picked the music. Now he's getting the appreciation he deserves, you should react to "Even Now" by him as well.

Barry has written an astounding number of hits for himself and others. He's an incredible talent. It wasn't "cool" growing up to say you were a fan. Luckily I feel there are two types of people - one who love Barry and ones who say they don't, but secretly do.
I don't know if anyone has ever convered "Mandy"..Although he did not write it. But I doubt you heard the original singer/songwriter's version. This IS the version, from 1975 that made it to #1 on the charts. No covers since then.

Nobody thought he was cool, but we all had his CD/cassettes/albums stashed under the car seat. And we ALL sing along when Copacabana comes on.

He was the first to record this song. I think it was his break through, but i don't think he wrote it, although he wrote many others.
