That guitarist was Dimebag Darrell Abbot. He was shot and killed by a guy that blamed him for Pantera breaking up in 2004 at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus Ohio in 2004. The guy shot and killed a total of 4 people that night before he was shot and killed by a police officer. Dimebag's brother Vinnie witnessed his brother's murder as he was playing with Dimebag in their new group Damage Plan. RIP Dime and Vinnie.

The problem with the "official" video is the whole intro is missing. I'll find the link to the one I'm talking about that has the full song.

Phils singing style and attitude came from the New Orleans hardcore scene. For a concert like this you need to go to a hardcore concert. Check out Imposter, a rising hardcore band from Boston.
Pantera was what happened when a power metal band from Texas met a hardcore singer from New Orleans.

I'm not sure if someone has already mentioned this, but Pantera is from Arlington, TX. They were huge fans of the Dallas Stars hockey team. They wrote and recorded a song for the team that the Stars played every time they entered the rink. It sounded like music that a wrestler had playing when entering the ring. It had to be intimidating to the other team!
Pantera is as metal as metal f#%king gets!! The energy is just off the charts. Sadly tho they broke up in the early 2000s and guitarist Dimebag Darrell and Drummer Vinnie Paul (they're real life brothers) started a new band called Damageplan. While playing at a club in Columbus Ohio on December 8th 2004 some psycho nutcase got on stage and shot and killed Dimebag. To this day it still brings a tear to my eye. He was such a great guy and loved life and everyone he ever met. Watch the VH1 Behind The Music on Pantera (you'll find it on youtube). You'll laugh, you'll cry, you will buy a Pantera shirt and wear that shit with PRIDE!

One of the best guitar work i know of is from an 11 year-old boy from Austrailia named Taj Farrant. His rendition of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" will leave you, haha, comfortably numb. He is a RUclipsr, and had played on stage with Carlos Santana and ZZ Top. He was On Austrailia's got Tallent with the SICKEST version of "Prince's Purple Rain", which he did right as he turned 10. He is awesome!!!
Good shit bro! Metal will hook you deep over time. The complexity of the instrumentation and energy it brings is in a league of its own. That guitar that’s hooking you is played by Dimebag himself, arguably one of the best guitarist in the history of music. If you’re looking for another band that has absolutely ripping guitars, check out Unleash the Archers - Awakening. It’s a female fronted metal band from Canada and one of the best technical bands I’ve seen in a long time. Keep it up man! Metal heads are some of the most open minded and accepting music fans you will ever meet.

The lead singer Phil Anselmo literally concreted the sound. Now their has been other vocalists that has that kind of rasp and singing style. Some have to scream or growl to get it, he did not. Him, and the rest of the band changed metal music forever and their influence still lasts to this day and probably will never go away. Just like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin changed metal and hard rock music, Panteras stamp is just as equal now at this point.

okay crash course here: screamo is it's own thing and own genre entirely coming off of the post-hardcore and emo movements, in metal it's divided into 1. clean vocals- classic singing with no distortion 2. dirty vocals - adding grit or gravel to your voice to create a distorted but easy to understand sound 3. death growls - the highest distortion one can muster and is often completely unintelligible by outsiders and some insiders it can range from low growls (i.e. Ivan Terrible of Slaughter To Prevail) to high pitched goat-like bleating (Chris Barnes of Six Feet Under), I say this just to educate you, it's not like I knew what "bars" and "flow" was when I first started listening to hip hop either, also these styles can blend and make it hard to categorize
