    I have auto project turned off and would use project intersect for this. But, I like how you do this stuff live so we can see how you approach things if they don't work how you initially thought they would. It helps us to understand how and WHY certain things are done. Keep them coming they are great man!

      Hi jeevesme Thank you for watching! Project intersect would have been a better option. I got too excited about showing how you can re-order things in the history tree.

    Thank you Lars. its very informative especially for someone that used R12 back in early 90s. I'm trying to go back to CAD or mechanical drafting which ive learned back in grade school through HS. hoping and praying that this first passion can spark new interest in my career from my current IT career.

    Perfect, awesome, fantastic, bravo Lars the great.
    I used the profile dimensions of your draft and implemented it for myself but the profile's curvature could not be created exactly the same. Anyway, it was doable and ended up to extrusion. Definitely, as you kindly mentioned in the video, a machine handbook may help in detail for drafting such gears.

    Great one again Lars.
    Maybe this wouldn't work for this design but in playing around recently I found I had to break the projection link and then re-define the line to get what I wanted.

  • @jasonfurr2272
    @jasonfurr2272 Год назад

    As for the issue with the over cut because of the projection, you could either use parameters to define the sprocket overall diameter and use that dimension divided by two for the construction line. Or, don’t cut what is already cut and define the spline to cut only the surface and not over the edge.

    Lars in inventor you can cut the gear in half through the tooth. Then you could mirror from one side to the other.

    This is just a suggestion for placing the construction plane at 9:46, you could simply use mid plane between faces on both sides of a teeth.

    Instead of doing the split body to fix the project-error, why not use the intersect function to project the top of the tooth?

    • @GeryS.
      @GeryS. 6 лет назад

      Elias Johan Liavaag That would be the "right" solution 😉

      You are totally right! I forgot about that function in my excitement of getting to show how to re-order things in the history tree. That would have made things a lot easier.

    actually, you can make razor sharp keyways with a shaper operation (not cnc mill oriented)

    Just like in video #104, creating the notch in this sprocket doesn't work for me either. I'm beginning to wonder if I have a different version of Fusion 360 because it doesn't quite behave the same way. I can follow along and draw all the lines but dimensioning doesn't work the same way when I hit the D key. That's ok because I can work around that by right-clicking and using the menu. But after you created the dimensions, your surface is able to be extruded. I can't replicate that process. How are able to get the shape defined by the created lines and arc? It's as if it's created by the intersection of the lines and arc but I can't make that happen.

    so we could avoid all those sprocket tapering issues by using revolve to start with? spin the profile first, then cut out the teeth? thank you!!

    You could use a Key Slot Broach in order to achieve 90 degree corners.

      Yes! In the past I would have used a WEDM, that still leaves a radius though. Thank you for watching!!

      Hi Dom Logan Thank you for watching! It is a Haas Simulator, mostly used in education. You can upload your code from the CAM withiun Fusion 360 and test that the code will work on the CNC machine

    Would it also work if you had constructed the Plane at Angle from the tooth's corner instead of it's middle? I *think* that might have solved the unwanted step problem.

      Hi Dave Skowron Thank you for watching!
      Hit "D" For dimensions, then click the straight line and angular line.
      Clicking two lines will give you a degree dimension
      Hope this is helpful.

    Hi Lars, is it possible in Fusion 360 to model this cascade lift (ruclips.net/video/diXEm9aw1Dc/видео.html) to study the motion of chain and sprockets? I found a video on chain but it wasn't helpful on the motion front.

    Ahh... why Fusion don't have feature to make sprocket, gear? just put pitch and roller diameter. it's make easy to draw....
