North Carolina is an absolute blast, there is just so much good stuff to ride, you can spend months there and not hit all the good trails. Thanks Kyle!
@@BlindstuffMTB Yep, I've ridden Moab, Fruita, Crested Butte, Durango, etc and except for the exceptional scenery out there, Pisgah is my favorite place to ride. It's crazy how much amazing trail is there.
@@jodylowe8476 if only we had access to the stuff above the parkway for mtb we wouldn't even have the scenery difference. Hiking black balsam knob feels like the high alpine of CO (kinda)
@@BlindstuffMTB As soon as the NF campgrounds open, i am planning a week trip out to Pisgah to start making up for lost time last year. Vaccinated and ready to roll.
It's really tough to climb it no matter where you go, I've done the route you mentioned and on this video I just went on the north boundary road after wolfbranch, while mellower climb the added distance is significant, in either case, its worth it once you get to the descent.
You really do, and plan to give yourself a couple of days worth of riding, there is just so much to ride close to Asheville, you could spends months there. Graham swamp is open? Nice! Glad to hear there are places with minimal damage from irma going back to normal. We don't think we'll get VK open in at least 1.5 to 2 months.
Just rode this with my SO last week. Great trail. The climb up isn't bad at all. I would recommend climbing up side hill after you descend Green's lick then take little hickory to the top. This will get you back up to the northern boundary road. From there you can take ingles field gap down and then hit a few other trails back to the parking lot or make your way back up northern boundary for some more descents. Pisgah or DuPont are, IMO, better options for riding in the Ashville area. Bent Creek is certainly worth checking out though.
i remember riding this trail the first time, it was so awesome! I miss NC, love the atmosphere and all the friendly people up there mountain biking. and I DEFINITELY remember that ride to the top of the mountain to make the run down! a long ride but well worth it!
It is a black trail, and I would agree with the classification, but not due to the technical aspect alone, I think its the combination of the fact that its a FAST trail and there are many tech options, you can see I skipped at least one big rock jump around 4:58. Ratings are always relative and without a doubt a black trail in Pisgah is a lot harder than one at bent creek, but it still feels like a fair rating. Flowy and fun it definitely is, you'll just find a few sections that'll have you on your toes due to the rockyness.
Thanks Bobo, pretty sure what convinced me to try this one on my last trip to NC was your video on it. And yeah, looking down to see the camera off is a bummer, not to mention its almost always when you pull of the perfect jump or feature lol
Rode it a few months back.. it was sick.. the 5 mile climb sucked but I would do it again and again.. can't wait to get get back to Asheville soon. ( after I heel from broke collar bone) great video bro keep them coming
No. It was the weekend before the Chattanooga trip.. I was testing the new gear I put on the bike. New 11-42 cassette, chain and wider bars.. I'm ready to get the movement back going, sooner I do that sooner I can get back to riding. Hoping maybe by November or December
3 weeks ago. Had surgery 2 weeks ago. They put a rod and 2 screws in it. Going to doctors tomorrow for my post op.. I'm ready to start moving my arm. I'm really ready to get back on the bike. I did it to myself not paying attention to the trail.. it happens
Aw man, on the Chattanooga trip you mentioned to me? I had an AC separation a while ago, not exactly the same, but close, its a pita to work back the strength, but if you keep constant at it its like nothing ever happened.
Hey Francesco, I'm using 5.10 Impact VXI shoes (probably a bit bulkier than most people like - the freerider is another good more common shoe) and RaceFace Aeffect pedals (they're great, but I can't tell the difference between these and the much cheaper chesters, so I don't know if the extra price is worth it)
I think if you adjusted your rebound or high speed compression, it would help your front end and your arm pump. could see it skipping a lot over the chattery stuff and pushing your whole front end a bit. awesome video though man, that black bear 5 minutes in was wild to see haha
Good eye! My setup later in time ended up being a bit slower in rebound and its a lot better. When I filmed this the bike was basically new, so I was still figuring out the setup.
Thanks John. It's a rather long ride to make it to the start of greens lick, not particularly much vert but a lot of miles. I'd say 45 minutes to 1 hour more or less
Thanks Robert, glad you liked it! I forgot to start Strava so I don't know for sure, but a guesstimate would be somewhere between 25 - 30 mph peak. Anyhow, what ever it was, for me it felt crazy fast!
Gonzo Kat lmao. My first few pairs of fox gloves were good, these last ones were absolute shit. Lasted like 2 months. I've since moved over to handup, love them, no flailing velcro ftw.
Black bear at 5:17?
Duuuuude, I hadn't even noticed it, definitely a black bear, great eye.
right or left side?
Vincent Smith right
@@BlindstuffMTB You didn't notice while riding? I mean I was looking for it cause I read the comments. Crazy though.
Good eye!
1:38 I cannot stop watching your right glove now. The constant flailing.
That was the last time I bought gloves with velcro. I wear only cuffless gloves now, directly as a consequence of this video lol
Bent Creek has some sick downhills.
2:23 you respond to puddles the same way I do. Lol.
I am not a mudder either. Mud means more maintenance and wear and tear.
North Carolina looks like a must ride. Another great video my friend.

Chest-mounted camera is the way to go! I duct taped mine to my helmet and it was wobble AF. Nice video!
There is literally hundreds of miles of trail like this in Pisgah National Forest. A real mountain biking mecca.
Not to mention that as good as greens lick is, it's probably on the lower end for pisgah awesomeness. So many amazing world class trails in one place

Good stuff man, I rode this back in June and it was awesome. Glad to see your channel growing, keep up the good work!
Thanks Matthew! Appreciate the support, its been an awesome ride.
yup love that trail it never get old! we climbed... hard times - deer lake - wolfbranch - ingles gap to get there!! was brutal but worth it.

I started in Ledford, went down Deer Lake, up Wolf's Branch, up Ingles, then to Green's Lick
I had to come back and reference your vids bro! I'm heading to Bent Creek This Wednesday. Thanks again for uploading this.
Happy to help! Have fun out there, I miss NC so much haha!

Heard it was a black diamond trail.... but it doesn't look as technical as I'd expect. Seems a bit flowy and fun.

How do you like the Jeffsy? is that the 29er or 650? I want to ride one so bad, but you can't really demo them anywhere
Mine is the 650, but having ridden both, you really can't go wrong with it. Absolutely love the Jeffsy, don't know of any better value for the money.
I enjoyed this one too. How long did it take to climb to the top? Looks like it was a nice downhill ride too.

I may have missed something here. Is the YT a new bike for you or a demo? If yours, what bar width and stem size?
+Laurel Williams hey Laurel, the Jeffsy 27 is my own bike. I have the stock bar and stem for the L frame which are 770mm and 60mm respectively.
