I know exactly what you mean about the stiffness. I just drove the 23 X3 M yesterday and I had the same comment. If you have a significant other that rides with you often I highly recommend they go on the test drive with you. On the other hand - it has INCREDIBLE car-like handling dynamics. I made a sharp u-turn and it felt like a sports car more than a SUV.
Yeeeeessssss. These things are rocketships. I can say that the X3 M40i accomplishes 95% of what the M version does with a lower price and better ride. Very interesting color! Edit: the snow/rain falling in the intro shots was strangely comforting.
This. Also the m40i has more low end torque. I have a pre lci and on east coast urban/suburban roads, you have more power than you use most of the time.
I have an X4MC coming from a 440i and have drove the X3 M40i a few times. They are not in the same realm of car. The only benefit to the M40i is a smoother ride. The performance is not comparable.
I drive a 21 X3M and my wife got a 20 M340i. Both with car seats for our one year old. Gotta say these fine vehicles are your perfect daily and at the same time can still give you that extra bit of fun when you feel like it. Before this I used to have an F30 335i and at that time I never liked SUVs and now I'm glad that I was wrong.
One of the best looking SUVs made today & it’ll keep up with a Trackhawk, not to mention it has a very nice interior & has proven reliability. What more could you want.
Own one of these and I agree with all the commentary. It’s very stiff, very fast and very fun. It’s a great family car and a good complement to my E90 ZCP. 😊
Love my 2020 x3m40i every time I drive it. The worse the weather the better. No issues when on i90 coming into Buffalo through a blizzard while towing a full uhaul trailer.
All the different modes aren’t really a big deal. It’s actually the same settings they’ve had since the F chassis M cars except now they’re in a touch menu instead of physical buttons. Once you configure your M buttons to your favorite 2 configurations, you’ll never need to play with the menus again.
I would say to try the X3 M40i as well. The M will be more hardcore, but if you plan on driving this all the time, the only reason to go X3 M would be the outright speed. The M40i is a fun car that is a little more comfortable than the M.

It is very interesting how these Engines are so reliable nowadays thanks to their adaptation of a diesel like construction design and extra stiffening parts in the engine. They only suffer mostly from LSPi where the injection clogs up and potentially reacts to heat like ignition making the piston go to the side of the cylinder whilst not reaching up to the top. So atleast after like 50k km you should use additives for injectors every 5th tank filling. That actually might make this Engine go for 300k km easily.Fun thing is I saw a B58 with 120k km rundown and the connecting rod bearings had 0% degradation.
I got a business idea: retromodding cars! Just ripping all these screens, mood lighting, touch buttons out and replacing it with good old analogue cluster and amber ambient light.
Funny the camera picks up the light coming from the drivers display, like it's not infrared but it is some sort of sensor. Btw what was the leather colour?
