Gary Michael Cappetta being called "The World's Most Dangerous Announcer" is a reference to David Letterman's house band; he's been friends with Jim Cornette for years, and Cornette was the one who coined that nickname.
I worked in Satchmo's nightclub in Stoke-on-Trent in the early 2000's as a student. I was the bar supervisor and I did the cleaning the next day. Believe me, lads. You can't clean it. There is no difference between the paint, the wood and the dirt. It has all become one in the way that Chaos corruption permeates a Space Hulk. Cloths and mopheads become one with the filth on contact. Any application of moisture is instantly absorbed. The saving grace was the sheer amount of cash and drugs that I would find as well as being able to operate my own private cloakroom racket.
I love how earthquake just destroyed the man's willingness to even guess people's ages ever again. I envision him going to school with a construction worker style lunchbox.
As a kid at the time you wanted the Steiner Brothers to kill the Free birds. Sting with the rat tail was definitely a choice. WCW failed to recognize the past and make you care unlike WWE now which can't let go of 20-30 years ago. It was like yeah that guy was something in the territory days 5 years ago but f it if you don't know you don't know why you should care that the Free bird's were a thing and Harley Race was awesome 10-15 years ago but you just started watching. You have to keep reminding people because every event is someone's first or someone coming back. You can't just assume everyone has been there for the whole ride.
If you (like me) grew up in the south, in the 80's NWA vs WWF wasn't ever a contest. When McMahon took over Georgia Championship Wrestling the fans went nuts. We grew up on bloody, violent, personal issues driven, "believable" wrestling...WWF would steal our favorites and make them into cartoonish caricatures of their former selves doing lackluster matches with no bumps.
Earthquake v Hogan was a great matcgh because of the pops they were getting from the crowd but it would have been nice to see some of those better technical matches in tyhe WCW on that summerslam card too, don`t know how the WWF crowd would have responded though, I do remember enjoying summerslam 1990 in any case anyway, I was 14 at the time.
WWF was drawing way more than WCW at that time. I keep saying it, but idiot wrestling fans don't listen. Wrestling matches don't draw money, personalities do.
I remember as a kid, this event felt just as important as Wrestlemania. Sting was being set up to feud with Flair but was injured. So this was Sting finally getting his hands on Flair. For a 6 year old mark that had regular access to both WWF and NWA/WCW, it was a great year for big match moments. Sting vs Flair. Hogan vs Warrior.
I Absolutely Love You Guys & all your videos are so amazingly accurate & funny, I find myself agreeing with So Much of what you say, it’s uncanny. Especially ones like this talking about early 90’s WCW !
even tho wcw was on the cusp of getting really silly the in-ring product was more exciting than the wwf. it stayed that way for a long time until the slow, plodding, cartoony style took over all of mainstream wrestling permanently. despite the modernization of the wwe style, i still hate that new york style.
I never got why JR was obsessed with throwing in their legit sports records etc. Why is that of any benefit? It makes them look bad and like fakes. Even though Jim Ross had a lot of sense when it came to wrestling that however was a total weakness he had that he wasn't able to get it that it doesn't help the talent any. He is killing their gimmick too. Especialy of it's an over the top gimmick alot of fans wanted to believe that's who they actualy were but him telling us all that's not who they always were just kills their gimmick. That's why The Macho Man was seething through his teeth when JR first came to WWF & threatened to beat the sh#t out of him "if he mentions my God damned baseball career one more time i'm gonna kill him!" he apparently said backstage. Can't remember who but somebody in a shoot interview told that, it may have been Lanny. And a lot of other wrestlers were concerned as he had a reputation for telling the world on commentary about their genuine sports credentials but he was told to cut it out by Vince but he would still try & get it in from time to time. JR was really way way overrated in my opinion as a commentator, it's almost like a sacred mantra to just take for granted he was the best but he's really not. He wasn't bad either but just way overated
What I don't like about Jr is he kept taking childish digs at Hulk Hogan all the time, like a typical smart mark. "This is the NWA, where we wrestle, we don't come out to rock n roll music and pose for 20 minutes." You realise Hogan was the biggest draw in wrestling history Jim?
JR has an obsession with peoples college sports careers to this day. Ask him on a podcast about a wrestler and he will rattle off all the sports they participated in before actually getting to the relevant story. He seems to think this gives them "credibility" as athletes but instead you just go "Ah, but they couldn't go pro, so now they are here, eh?" Like wrestling is just the backup plan for failed athletes.
That was always the most annoying thing about J.R. he would never shut up about football. Like to the point if anybody played football before wrestling he would follow them around like a puppy trying to talk about football
Every time you guys do WCW it's my favourite thing. Great work again too, Banya!
There's a million lights hanging from those rafters and somehow that ring is still more dimly lit than my cellar. WCW specialty, there.
I used to really like their look , always gave it a Friday nights at the fights feel

which was dave's way of honoring dick the bruiser, which I found out watching wrestleme

Adoring the volume of content....solid gold the lot of if. Cheers lads.

That is exactly how the older generation acted towards Sting back then I remember it thoroughly
"Yellow blue and black, it's not much of a color scheme"
M8 those are the colors of my ring gear.... 🤣
Speaking of clean rings: Vince would have a clean canvas for every show.
"Is he still with us?" Not any more, Pete.
R.I.P. Richard Simmons.
JR always used to talk about American football in matches.
I remember watching summer slam 99 and the King even mocks him for it.

That was the most I have ever seen of a Richard Simmons work out video.

What a mark

Ironic that, on the day Ricard Simmons passed I watch this video where it's asked "is he still with us?"
I was just thinking that while checking this out. Aw man. Godspeed you magnificent son of a bitch.
“60% of the time, it works every time”
- Harley Race, Great American Bash 1990
YES! These videos always make my day! Thanks Gents! 👊♥️

Fucking hell, the libertines at the barfly takes me back. Working in clubs throughout the 00’s I now feel physically sick whenever I smell Red Bull.

This is when I started watching. I was 5yra old and Z man was my favorite. El egante and abdula were close 2nds
The Cribs B-roll just top notch right there
I like how Lex Luger blew his nose into his hand and proceeded to dispense a series of high fives to the audience.
I’m watching this video on 4th of July, Independence Day here in the U.S. 2023.

JIm Ross used to be in a local territory where he had to hype local talent. It seems to be a habit he never stop doing.
Thanks to both of you bone-heads, I CAN NOT unsee Lex Lugers "Squish-Face" everytime I see him! Lol... bcuz you are SO right!
For the American audience. Playing football at whatever college or pro team is a big deal.
Richard Simmons was missing at one point.
He was wrestling for New Japan there for a bit.
Hilarious guys as ever 😁
Nature Boy Paul Lee is actually the least successful Nature Boy out of the 4 of Nature Boys.
It wasn't a perm; Harley Race had naturally curly hair.
Sting was always Warrior Lite
You're high as fuck, buddy. Your ignorance is only overshadowed by your audacity. It's almost admirable how absolutely wrong you are.
WCW outta business so, yes?
Ask UK fan nwa great wcw was loud noisey mess of a show. I would love to watch nwa again

😂😂😂😂😂
Sting was never a good World Champion. He never needed the title with his "popularity" and reigns were brief. He didnt draw any money.
The stereotyping of people from the southern US is a bit much. Asside from that great channel
You should hear them talk about England.
