You’re correct and I would like to add the field had been rained on that week and been used for local high school championships and was in extremely poor condition. When it happened it was a combination of already being injured and his cleat sticking leading to the horrific leg snap.
It wasn't a "freak" injury, it was an MCL sprain, followed by an ACL(/MCL) tear.. Nothing you cannot come back from, especially with today's medicine, as a top tier professional athlete. However, the style of play that made him successful was dependent on a certain level of athleticism he didn't trust to have after coming back from the injury. It’s funny how recently QBs taken 2nd overall have had huge fall outs with their teams even though they showed flashes of solidity (Mitch and Wentz) and then two defensive pass rushers are taken and they honestly seem like they could be HoF-bound if they keep up their production
As a Jets fan, seeing as how the last 3 #2 picks were Barkley, Bosa, and Young, that gives me confidence that hopefully we won’t fall victim to the curse.
I remember watching that Redskins vs Seahawks game and seeing RGIII blow out his knee, it's just one of those images you can't get out of your head. He had such a great season up to that point, real sad that a shitty field and team cost the guy a potentially amazing career.
Leaf is the biggest example of this. Manderich is one of the biggest players part of this curse. I mean the remaining players drafted in the top 5 were ALL hall of famers in Aikman, Barry Sanders, Thomas, and Primetime. People thought that Manderich would have been the best of the five.
Ryan Leaf, for as bad as he was, earned his own definition I decided. There are players out there that have obtained pure bust status and obtained the definition "Ryan Leaf." That one belongs to Johnny Football
5:37 Mariota looks so clean in Silver & Black. It's fitting he's a Raiders for more than one reasons, but mention one as a quick fidbit: Las Vegas has a good rate of Hawaiians living in the city
People need to give Carson a second chance with an actual coach and a competent GM. Everyone today is too quick to react and need immediate results. I guarantee that he will have a great year, and the colts might even go to the AFC championship. It would be fitting for a Philly team for something like that to happen
I think in more recent years the mental aspect of being in second in the draft has waned on some guys. With pick #1 always being a qb nowadays, the #2 like Bosa or Young basically have the confidence of being a stalwart player without the what could have been part since teams will always burn that pick on a qb (although it might affect other qbs taken at 2)
Well technically the curse kinda hit Nick Bosa and Saquon Barkley in 2020. Bosa only played 2 games in 2020. And Saquon Barkley only played 3 games in 2020. And missed 3 games in 2019.
You should do this for the NBA also. I can think of a very polarizing list at the moment for #2 picks...Darko, KD, Michael Beasley, Hasheem Thabeet, MJ, just to name a few. Excellent video, again. Thank you again, for the lack of ball hair trimming product commercial.
Another quarterback who could have been in this video is Rick Mirer. He was taken by the Seahawks #2 overall in 1993, after the Patriots took Drew Bledsoe #1 overall. At best he was a journeyman QB. In an 80 game career over 10 years he was 24-44 with 50 touchdown passes and 76 interceptions.

@@Rysofly Yeah, adding Wentz to the list comes off as biased on Five Point's part.
@@Phinal_Flash It's five points I have come to expect his opinion is right and nobody else's matters. 🤷🏾♂️
Yeah, Wentz only had a bad/terrible season last year every other season has been good or great
Love the Lance Stroll cameo 3:44 lol that gave me a laugh #F1
God. . . that made me nostalgic for those days of Stafford throwing to Johnson. *sigh* *drinks heavily*
great video but Justin Fields at the end? its gonna be Zach Wilson lol
It’s funny how recently QBs taken 2nd overall have had huge fall outs with their teams even though they showed flashes of solidity (Mitch and Wentz) and then two defensive pass rushers are taken and they honestly seem like they could be HoF-bound if they keep up their production
You made this for us Jets fans didn't you...
Well of course. We are the butt fumble of all jokes.
2:31 the OU dude has a Logies hat on. Still the most popular bar for college kids/ high schoolers in Norman lol
That was me in the Pennington jersey at 7:04!!! Glad to be (an incredibly small) part of the joke that is the jets organization 🤙
3:32 were not gonna talk about this? 😂😂😂
Haha I didn’t notice at first
You said being picked 3rd is better than being picked 2nd psychologically, how would you say being picked 199th feels?
its ok
Honestly Wentz pretty much gave Philly a superbowl and only had one bad season that even if terrible it was seen as worse because of wentz standards
As a Jets fan, seeing as how the last 3 #2 picks were Barkley, Bosa, and Young, that gives me confidence that hopefully we won’t fall victim to the curse.
Did you hear what he said about the Jets in the video? They only make good moves by accident
Last 3 years it’s looked fine
2018: Saquon Barkley
2019: Nick Bosa
2020: Chase Young
Let’s see if Zach Wilson will make it 4 years
Boss and Barkley got injured already
@@spidamitchell8311 they’re still among the best at their positions after a short amount of time
@@rmichels05 agreed although the curse still got them
A Lawrence stroll reference!?.......... does this mean we could get fivepoints F1 vids!?
I love your editing when I high lmao, only reason I find it funny.
You can add Jets’ QB Zach Wilson to this list now too after the recent loss to Patriots’ Mac Jones.
While I agree with Washington changing their name, the Washington (Redacted) joke will never not be funny
I love this guys videos
Wentz isn't that bad, he just had a bad year, he makes amazing throws all the time
He was good every year until this year, I think he has a very good chance to turn things around in a competent franchise like Indy
Choked to the Jaguars with the playoffs on the line...
@@rmichels05 He literally held that team back this year & did worse than Philip Rivers the year before.
I remember watching that Redskins vs Seahawks game and seeing RGIII blow out his knee, it's just one of those images you can't get out of your head. He had such a great season up to that point, real sad that a shitty field and team cost the guy a potentially amazing career.
I was at the game where David Johnson broke his wrist and became the "injury prone" rb. It's actually pretty wild seeing it happen in person
It wasn't just this moment or injury that actually "ended" his career but it sure was a big first domino to fall in the wrong direction
Megatron's curse was signing with the Lions, not winning a SB and retiring at his prime
Or retiring before brain injuries made retirement a living hell.
Aleast he got in the hall of fame and thats a curse a lot of players would take over anything
damn wentz slander is real
Leaf is the biggest example of this. Manderich is one of the biggest players part of this curse. I mean the remaining players drafted in the top 5 were ALL hall of famers in Aikman, Barry Sanders, Thomas, and Primetime. People thought that Manderich would have been the best of the five.
One injury completely derailing RGIII is a total myth. Like many young QBs the league figured him out and he could not adjust.
Real talk what is that song at the start before the ad? I legit want to hear more of that.
Washington redacted sounds better than Washington football team
been playing madden 04 a lot as of late so it reminded me, but a bit surprised to see no one has mentioned charles rogers. sad story, rip.
All phill had to do was draft Wentz help like the team needed but they drafted his replacement instead & expected him not to feel a way about it.
Yeah lmao in 2019 he carried that team into the playoffs with a practice squad around him
Five Points with the fire lately
People need to give Carson a second chance with an actual coach and a competent GM. Everyone today is too quick to react and need immediate results. I guarantee that he will have a great year, and the colts might even go to the AFC championship. It would be fitting for a Philly team for something like that to happen
Feel like this is inevitable for WIlson
Check out the typo by the NFL graphics people at 9:38. Overall with triple L (overalll).
Here after zack Wilson’s 4 int game
This is gonna be zach wilson in a few years
When five points posts, Its a great day!
I think in more recent years the mental aspect of being in second in the draft has waned on some guys. With pick #1 always being a qb nowadays, the #2 like Bosa or Young basically have the confidence of being a stalwart player without the what could have been part since teams will always burn that pick on a qb (although it might affect other qbs taken at 2)
3:44 Wait a minute. Racing point aka aston martin finished 4th last season in F1. 😂
Trubisky 😟
A moment of silence for Zach Wilson’s career please 😞
moment of silence for his mom
I mean Saquan is good
Chase young
Nick Bosa
Saquon Barkley
Been pretty good for a while
Well technically the curse kinda hit Nick Bosa and Saquon Barkley in 2020. Bosa only played 2 games in 2020. And Saquon Barkley only played 3 games in 2020. And missed 3 games in 2019.
Aiden Hutchison, is the curse killer! Lol the killer of the #2 pick curse and the curse that’s over our lions!
If you see that draft where mariota was drafted in that draft both 1 and 2 picks in the 1 round are backups now
You should do this for the NBA also. I can think of a very polarizing list at the moment for #2 picks...Darko, KD, Michael Beasley, Hasheem Thabeet, MJ, just to name a few. Excellent video, again. Thank you again, for the lack of ball hair trimming product commercial.
Zach Wilson: *chuckles* I'm in danger
Why you gotta do this to me?
Ryan Leaf, RG3, Rick Mirer
Another quarterback who could have been in this video is Rick Mirer. He was taken by the Seahawks #2 overall in 1993, after the Patriots took Drew Bledsoe #1 overall. At best he was a journeyman QB. In an 80 game career over 10 years he was 24-44 with 50 touchdown passes and 76 interceptions.
