Welcome back to China. I appreciate your courage to try all kinds of Chinese food. Enjoy your journey and I wish you many wonderful memories of your trip to China!
@@Alan_and_Shannon You guys should check out the vlogger called Yan on 'Little Chinese Everywhere' to see the beauty of China outside of the Tier 1 cities.
that noodle is call Lu Mian. It is unique meal in kunming only, and it is the most popular meal for local people. You guys are really tasting the real China, the normal Chinese would have eaten. I am local and i m telling you the other part of China doesn't have this, and the other Chinese will love this. You guys are really going deep into Chinese daily life. Well done! By the way, the chicken pot you had before, doesn't have particular English name for it, it is mixture of many ingredients cooked in the local way. That is supposed to eat with rice. Pour the broth onto the rice and it is delicious
There are many scenic spots in Yunnan, such as stone forests(石林), the ancient city of Lijiang(丽江古城) , The Tiger Leaping Gorge(虎跳峡) and XiShuangBanNa(西双版纳).
I traveled to Yunnan in 2016. I highly recommend the Yak Meat Hot Pot in Shangri-La, the Wild Mushroom Hot Pot in Lijiang, and visiting Lugu Lake in the summer when it's warm and beautiful.
Let me summarize and analyze it for you. 1. Barbecue: The first skewer you ate was the green onion in the large intestine. I didn't want to tell you at first, but then I thought you've already eaten it, so it's okay to tell you. 2. Chicken: What you ate was braised chicken, and that chicken looks very similar to black-bone chicken. This kind of chicken is different from ordinary chicken, the bones and skin are black, and it tastes similar to ordinary chicken, but Chinese people think that this kind of chicken has higher nutritional value. Chinese people usually eat braised chicken with rice. 3. Noodles: The noodles you ate were not the kind that is unique to Yunnan. The kind that is unique to Yunnan is called cross-bridge rice noodles, which are made of rice and then boiled with very hot soup. What you ate was just ordinary braised noodles that are available all over China. 4. Oysters: The price of that oyster is indeed very cheap, at least cheaper than in Guangdong. 5. Potatoes: The boss should have added houttuynia cordata. Not everyone can accept the taste of houttuynia cordata, but people in southwestern China like to eat it very much, including Yunnan and Guizhou. 6. Mixue: You can ask the staff not to add those small particles and just give you juice.
I'm so glad we are finding out what the barbecue skewer was after we ate it haha, it wasn't our favourite but we are always up for trying new food at least once. Thanks for the tips
"Back in Scotland at the chippy", words I have never heard as an American but understand perfectly. Bonus points for having a few pints before visiting the chippy or a wee dram.
When ordering two of something we use 兩, or "liang". We use that to count. 二, ("er") is more to used like the English word "second", more for the order of things.
Loved your video. I do hope that you can add the hotel name you use or where you are (night market name) etc so it's easier to find for us when we visit, thanks
Alan, thanks for your honest comment on the drink, I myself also don’t like those bits & pieces in a drink. China has such a huge food culture, no one will like everything.
I am from London. I visited China with my Chinese partner. A friend introduced us to Chagee. I recommend you guys to try it. Amazing tea house. Their Jasmine milk tea, Osmanthus milk tea, or standard black milk teas are lovely. Make sure you try it iced! My favourite drink in China!
Go to a place called Jianshui(Thousand of year's town . Two hours from Kunming )to relax.Try some traditional Yunnan style BBQ tofu and rice noodles and Yunnan buns (破酥包),Have a local roasted duck there .The sauce is amazing. Different from anywhere else.
Great stuff guys, hope you are having a Bonnie time and enjoy all the sights and smells. The people were so friendly and helpful it was incredible. To people thinking of visiting, watch all these vids and all the other fab vids about China and go and visit, you will not regret it! Your eyes will open up to an amazing place we have been brainwashed that it’s unsafe etc etc etc, all BS! We been 4 times now and back again in September when the kids go back to school here as cheaper flights. What gets me after all the buzz of travelling to China, I returned back to Ullapool to visit my mother and my mind was frazzled lol 👍🍻
The cuisine of Yunnan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Hunan, Shaanxi, Shanxi, and Xinjiang provinces in China is quite spicy, while Guangdong and Fujian provinces, as well as Jiangsu, Shanghai, and Anhui provinces, prefer light and slightly sweet dishes. Forget Beijing, it's a food desert. The three northeastern provinces are famous in China for their large quantity. The above is a machine translation, I'm not sure if you can understand it.
@@Alan_and_Shannon one tea flavor is passion fruit tea, no boba, and add lychee bits. 🙂. Flavors can vary from green teas to blk tea base, fruit or no fruit. ( just always say no boba🤣).soursop fruit is interesting too. - ( oh sugar levels can (or not) be altered from 100/75/50/(30)/25 or none(depends on which tea mixture/ place.

Eggplants and green peppers are my must-have vegetables in barbecue, as you already tried the green pepper and thought highly of it, pls try the eggplant out next time. It can't go wrong.
@@Alan_and_Shannon Smaller shrimps have thinner shells and are easier to chew it. I didn't think it is possible to eat the shells too until I tried it. I would eat a few shells a day just to get some of the GAG (glycosamino glycan) from it. But if you eat a lot of shrimps, then it may not be as feasible with all the chewing to eat too many shells.
